Yes, you can monetize an Arma Reforger server, but only within a narrow framework. The server must be registered, approved and listed on Bohemia Interactive’s official server page. You may charge for access, accept donations, sell cosmetic benefits, and carry advertising or sponsorship, provided that nothing sold changes gameplay. You also need permission for every third-party mod you run; a mod license can prohibit monetization even after Bohemia approves your server. Check the official server-monetization policy immediately before launch because policy and mod licenses can change independently.
The short version of the policy
Bohemia Interactive treats monetization as a permission-based exception, not an automatic right for every community server. The practical test has three parts:

- Your server is registered, approved and visible on Bohemia’s official server list.
- Every paid feature is optional or access-related and has no effect on gameplay balance, capability or progression.
- You have the legal right to monetize every mod, asset and licensed package used by the server.
Failing any one of those tests creates a compliance problem. Approval does not cure a restrictive mod license, and a permissive mod license does not replace Bohemia’s approval process.
What you are allowed to charge for

Bohemia states that none of the income from a monetized server goes to Bohemia. The policy does not state an application fee, a required revenue share or a standard price for access; server owners set their own commercial terms within the rules.

How to tell whether a perk changes gameplay
“Cosmetic” is narrower than simply “not a weapon.” A paid feature is risky if it changes what a player can do, how quickly the player can do it, how difficult the player is to detect, or how much equipment the player can use. Evaluate the feature’s effect in an actual match rather than its marketing name.
Usually defensible examples
- A visual clothing patch, emblem or other identification mark with no armor, concealment or equipment effect.
- A supporter role in a Discord server or website that does not alter in-game rules.
- Access to a server that is otherwise the same for every admitted player.
- Optional sponsorship messages or branded scenery that do not block required game information.
Examples that cross the line
- A weapon, attachment or ammunition option sold only to supporters.
- A ghillie suit or camouflage item that makes a paying player harder to see.
- Extra health, armor, stamina, inventory capacity, faster respawn or privileged spawn locations.
- Priority queue treatment that becomes a combat or progression advantage rather than a simple connection convenience.
- Paid access to missions, objectives, vehicles or areas that non-paying players cannot use.
If a reasonable player could describe the purchase as “an advantage,” treat it as gameplay-affecting and do not sell it. A free, server-wide rule change is a different question from a benefit reserved for paying players; document that distinction before launch.

The policy requires an application through Bohemia’s website. Do not begin collecting money and assume approval will follow. Prepare the server’s commercial and technical details first, then apply and wait for the server to appear on the official list.

- Define the offer. Write down the access price, donation wording, cosmetic perks, advertising placements and any supporter privileges. Remove anything that affects equipment, combat, movement, survivability or progression.
- Inventory the server. Record the game version, server identity, administrators, hosting details and every mod, addon and custom asset that will load for players.
- Check each license. Read the current license or EULA for every package. Look specifically for “commercial use,” “monetization,” “donations,” “server,” “sponsorship,” and “permission” clauses.
- Collect permissions. If a license requires authorization, obtain written permission from the copyright holder and keep the message, agreement or ticket in an administrator-controlled archive.
- Apply through Bohemia’s server-monetization page. Submit the server and monetization details requested on the website. Approval is tied to the server and the disclosed arrangement, so material changes should be reviewed rather than silently introduced.
- Wait for official listing. Treat the server as non-monetized until it is approved and listed. A private announcement, a pending application or a community post is not the same as official listing.
- Publish clear terms. State what a payment buys, what it does not buy, whether donations are optional, and how refunds or access removal are handled. Keep the public description consistent with the approved arrangement.
Bohemia can request proof that you are authorized to use a mod. If you cannot produce it, the company may disable the mod on the server or remove the server from the approved list. Keeping a license register and permission archive is therefore an operating requirement, not merely legal housekeeping.
Mod licenses can override your business plan
Bohemia’s approval addresses the game platform’s policy. It does not grant you rights that belong to a mod author. A package can be technically compatible with your server and still forbid monetized use.
RHS: Status Quo
The RHS: Status Quo EULA is an especially important example: it prohibits running the package on servers with any monetization scheme, including systems that reward donations. Approval of your server or addon by Bohemia does not exempt you from that clause. If the package is present, you need a license that permits the proposed commercial model or you must remove the package.

Other restrictive Workshop licenses
Reported Workshop examples include Protocol Delta and Red Hammer Studios packages distributed under NonCommercial Creative Commons terms that bar monetized servers. A Shadow Haven Studios EULA likewise states that Bohemia approval does not override its restrictions. These examples illustrate why checking only the Workshop description is insufficient: the controlling terms may be in a linked EULA, a license file or an author’s published policy.
Workshop terms and exceptions
Workshop terms are reported to require custom mod licenses to prohibit commercial use and monetization. Some individual licenses contain a narrow exception—for example, permission limited to one named community or website. Such an exception does not automatically extend to your server, a sister community or a different payment system. Obtain an explicit, current authorization when the wording is unclear.
Donations: what “optional” really means
Donations are permitted only when donating is never required to access content. A donation page can support hosting costs, but the server should remain usable under the same gameplay rules by players who contribute nothing.

- Describe a payment as a donation only when it is genuinely optional and does not unlock a gameplay entitlement.
- Do not promise a weapon, attachment, ghillie suit, vehicle, mission slot or other in-game advantage in return for a donation.
- Do not hide mandatory access charges behind a “donation” button. If payment is required to join, describe it as an access fee and include it in the approved monetization plan.
- Keep records showing that donated funds are not tied to restricted mod content or unauthorized commercial use.
Advertising, sponsorship and product placement
The policy allows product placement, in-game advertising and sponsorship. Permission to advertise is not permission to alter gameplay. A sponsor logo on a sign, loading-screen message or community webpage is materially different from selling sponsor-branded equipment that changes concealment or combat performance.
Make the placement identifiable, avoid misleading claims about Bohemia’s endorsement, and check whether a mod or asset license restricts commercial branding. Advertising also has practical moderation risks: intrusive overlays, offensive material or links that violate your community rules can still damage the server and trigger complaints even when the monetization category itself is allowed.

Bohemia may remove an approved server if it exploits loopholes or acts against the community’s interests. Once removed, the server must stop monetizing immediately. The policy also references possible legal action, so continuing to sell access or perks after removal is not a safe way to contest the decision.

Removal is not the only exposure. A mod author can enforce a separate license, request that the package be taken down, or refuse future permission. A server that changes its mod list without updating its license review can become non-compliant overnight.
Immediate response to a warning or removal
- Disable payment collection, automatic renewals and donation rewards.
- Remove every paid gameplay feature and any mod for which authorization cannot be shown.
- Preserve approval emails, license files, permissions, payment records and server configuration for review.
- Ask Bohemia which condition must be corrected before reapplying; do not assume that changing the server name solves the issue.
- Notify players accurately about access and refunds without claiming that Bohemia approved a feature it did not approve.
A practical compliance checklist
- Is the exact server registered, approved and listed on Bohemia’s official page?
- Does the public offer match what was submitted for approval?
- Can a non-paying player compete under the same gameplay rules?
- Are all paid items strictly cosmetic, with no effect on visibility, armor, weapons, movement, inventory, spawning or progression?
- Are donations optional, with no required content unlock?
- Are advertising and sponsorship placements permitted by every relevant asset and mod license?
- Do you have written permission for packages whose licenses require it?
- Have you checked license changes since the last server update?
- Can an administrator produce the approval record and permission archive on request?
An important date caveat: expired permissions
One community policy page describes an ArmaConflict monetization permission as pending Bohemia approval and valid through 31 May 2026. That date had passed by 14 October 2026. Treat the page as outdated unless the operator and Bohemia have published a current renewal. It is not evidence that another server, or your own server, is authorized.

How to decide whether your planned model is viable
Use this sequence before spending money on a storefront or advertising deal:
- Strip the plan to its player benefit. If the benefit affects a match outcome, reject it.
- Separate access from advantage. A fee for entry can be allowed; a fee for better equipment cannot.
- Test the donation language. Remove any promise that makes content available only to contributors.
- Audit third-party rights. One restrictive EULA is enough to block the whole monetization plan.
- Obtain approval and listing. Do not treat a pending application, a private server or a past approval as current authorization.
- Monitor after launch. Review policy updates, mod-license changes and every new addon before enabling it on the monetized server.
The safest business model is a listed server funded by access fees or genuinely optional donations, with cosmetic recognition and clearly disclosed sponsorship, while all players receive identical gameplay capability. Anything more advantageous should be assumed prohibited unless Bohemia and every relevant rights holder have expressly authorized it.
