Godlike.Host offers hosted ARK: Survival Evolved servers with its own game panel, SFTP access and free DDoS protection, if you would rather not host it yourself.
To change how many points players or dinosaurs gain each level in ARK, edit Game.ini under the ShooterGameMode section. Use PerLevelStatsMultiplier_Player for players, PerLevelStatsMultiplier_DinoTamed for tamed dinosaurs, or PerLevelStatsMultiplier_DinoWild for wild dinosaurs. The number in brackets is the stat index; the number after the equals sign is the multiplier. A value of 1 is the default.
Save the file and restart the server. In ARK: Survival Ascended (ASA), a restart is required before the new values are loaded. Do not put these lines in GameUserSettings.ini; that file is ignored for this setting.

What ARK per-level stat multipliers control
ARK applies a per-level multiplier to the amount a stat increases when a player or dinosaur receives a level. The setting does not select a particular creature or character; it selects a stat category and a target group.
Each entry has three parts:
- Target key: player, tamed dinosaur, or wild dinosaur.
- Stat index: the number inside square brackets.
- Multiplier: the number after
=.
For example:
PerLevelStatsMultiplier_Player[0]=2This targets player Health (index 0) and sets its per-level multiplier to 2. The multiplier is not a percentage. A value of 2 means twice the normal per-level gain, while 0.5 means half the normal gain.

Choose the correct Game.ini location
The file name is the same, but the configuration directory depends on how ARK is running. Make sure the server is stopped before editing so that the game cannot overwrite the file while it is open.
Single-player and non-dedicated sessions
Use the WindowsNoEditor configuration folder and open the Game.ini file inside it. This is the configuration location used by the original ARK: Survival Evolved setup for local and non-dedicated play.
Dedicated servers
Use the WindowsServer configuration folder and open its Game.ini. A hosting control panel may expose this file through a configuration editor instead of a normal file browser; select the Game.ini editor, not the editor for GameUserSettings.ini.
Confirm the game edition first
Guides for ARK: Survival Evolved and ARK: Survival Ascended use similar names but do not always use identical stat labels. Check whether the server is running the original game or ASA before copying a stat index from a guide. If a host offers separate configuration areas for the two editions, edit the one attached to the active server.
Use the ShooterGameMode section and the right key
Place the entries beneath the ShooterGameMode header in Game.ini. These two header spellings appear in working guides:

Use the spelling accepted by your server or hosting panel, and do not create several competing headers just to test capitalization. The important part is that the lines are in Game.ini under the ShooterGameMode section.

A complete example that changes three separate targets looks like this:

PerLevelStatsMultiplier_DinoWild[4]=2In this example, player Health is doubled per level, tamed-dinosaur Weight is doubled per level, and wild-dinosaur Food uses a multiplier of 2. Each line is independent; remove any line you do not want.

The bracketed index belongs to the stat, not to a creature species. For example, PerLevelStatsMultiplier_DinoTamed[7] applies to Weight for every affected tamed dinosaur; it is not a setting for a particular tame.
Stat indexes
The commonly used index list is below. Names for several indexes differ between the original game and ASA, so use the label that matches your edition.

Indexes 0 through 7 are the most consistent across the available guides. Sources disagree about the exact names and support for indexes 6 and 8 through 11; one guide states that some of those base values cannot be raised per level. If a line for one of those indexes has no visible effect, treat that as a compatibility limitation rather than proof that the file syntax is wrong.
How multiplier values behave
Default value: 1
1 preserves the normal per-level gain. You can include an explicit =1 line when you want to document a server’s intended setting, but it does not change the default behavior.

Reduced progression: 0.01
The community wiki describes 0.01 as nearly disabling progression for that stat. It leaves a very small gain rather than removing the stat completely.
Do not use 0 to disable a stat
A value of 0 is not a reliable way to stop gains. The wiki guidance says the game falls back to 1.0 when zero is used, so a line such as PerLevelStatsMultiplier_Player[7]=0 can behave like the default instead of disabling Weight gains.

Values such as 2, 3 or higher increase the normal gain by that factor. The exact result depends on the stat’s normal formula and the game edition. A commonly repeated example says that a Health gain of 2.0 would rise from 10 to 20 per level, but that particular numerical example has not been independently verified for current builds. Use a small test change first if balance matters.
Step-by-step: edit Game.ini
- Stop the game or server. For a dedicated server, use the host’s Stop command and wait until the process is fully offline.
- Back up the existing file. Copy
Game.inibefore changing it so you can restore the previous configuration if another setting is lost. - Open the correct file. Select
Game.iniin theWindowsNoEditorfolder for single-player or non-dedicated play, or in theWindowsServerfolder for a dedicated server. - Find or add the ShooterGameMode header. Use one accepted spelling, such as
[/script/shootergame.shootergamemode]. - Add one line per change. Use the exact key, bracketed index and numeric value. For example:
[/script/shootergame.shootergamemode]
PerLevelStatsMultiplier_Player[7]=1.5
PerLevelStatsMultiplier_DinoTamed[0]=2
PerLevelStatsMultiplier_DinoWild[4]=0.01- Save as plain text. Make sure the editor did not add a second extension such as
.txt, and check that each entry remains on its own line. - Restart ARK. This is required for ASA and is the safest procedure for the original game as well. Saving while the server is running does not reload values already held in memory.
- Test one controlled change. Level a player or dinosaur that uses the selected target and stat, then check whether the displayed increase matches the intended direction. Change only one variable at a time while diagnosing a problem.
ASA-specific behavior
In ASA, the multiplier lines are read from Game.ini, not GameUserSettings.ini. A line placed in the latter file can be syntactically correct yet have no effect. ASA also requires a server restart after saving; closing the editor or saving the file alone does not apply the new values to a running instance.
Do not copy an original-ARK stat name into an ASA explanation without checking the index. In particular, the community index list maps index 1 to Charge Capacity, index 3 to Charge Regeneration, and index 8 to Charge Emission Range in ASA. The numeric index is therefore more stable than the displayed name when comparing editions, but support for every index is not confirmed.
Optional tamed-dinosaur variants
Community documentation also describes tamed-dinosaur variants with _Add and _Affinity suffixes. The _Add form is described as an immediate boost, while _Affinity is associated with affinity-based scaling. These variants are not guaranteed to exist or behave identically in every game version. Confirm that the variant is recognized by your build before using it on a live server.

The standard per-level form remains the safest starting point:
PerLevelStatsMultiplier_DinoTamed[0]=2Only add a suffix when you specifically need that variant’s behavior and have confirmed it for the edition you run.

The line is in the wrong file
The most common configuration mistake is putting the entry in GameUserSettings.ini. Move it to Game.ini under ShooterGameMode, then restart the server.
The server was not restarted
A running server keeps its loaded settings. Stop it completely, save the file, and start it again. This restart requirement is explicit for ASA.

Check that the key matches the object receiving the level: Player, DinoTamed or DinoWild. Then verify the bracketed index. For example, index 7 is Weight, while index 0 is Health.
The header does not match what the server accepts
Try the casing used by the server’s existing configuration or by its provider’s template. The commonly documented forms are [/script/shootergame.shootergamemode] and [/Script/ShooterGame.ShooterGameMode]. Keep the entries under the header rather than placing them at the top of an unrelated section.

The value is zero
Replace 0 with a small positive value such as 0.01 if your goal is to nearly stop progression. Zero can revert to the default multiplier of 1.0.
The file changed or lines disappeared
A Steam community discussion reports cases in which Game.ini lines disappeared after the server started and a player logged in and out, but the cause was not confirmed. If this happens, stop the server, reopen the file, and check whether the edit was actually saved. Restore the backup if necessary, then restart and inspect the file again. Also check whether your host regenerates configuration files or applies a separate override after startup.
The index is not supported for per-level gains
Some guides state that certain base values cannot be raised per level, particularly among the less consistently documented indexes. Test a well-established index such as Health, Stamina or Weight before troubleshooting an unusual stat. If those work and one disputed index does not, the limitation may be built into that stat rather than caused by formatting.
Practical configuration examples
Double player Weight gains
[/script/shootergame.shootergamemode]
PerLevelStatsMultiplier_Player[7]=2This changes only player Weight gains. It does not change tamed or wild dinosaur Weight.
Reduce tamed-dinosaur Health gains
[/script/shootergame.shootergamemode]
PerLevelStatsMultiplier_DinoTamed[0]=0.5The value of 0.5 applies half the normal per-level Health gain to tamed dinosaurs.
Nearly stop wild-dinosaur Food gains
[/script/shootergame.shootergamemode]
PerLevelStatsMultiplier_DinoWild[4]=0.01This uses the community wiki’s nearly-disabled value for wild-dinosaur Food. It does not use zero, which can fall back to the default.

Set several independent rules

PerLevelStatsMultiplier_DinoWild[4]=0.01Every line combines one target and one stat. Leaving out a stat leaves that stat at its normal multiplier.
