No verified evidence currently establishes that two Bethesda games are free for 24 hours. As of October 13, 2026, the game titles, storefront, start and end time, regions, eligibility rules and license terms behind the headline “Two Bethesda Games Free for Some for 24 Hours” remain unconfirmed. Treat the offer as a claim to verify, not as an established giveaway.
What is—and is not—confirmed
Bethesda’s official sites are the appropriate places to look for a publisher announcement: Bethesda Game Studios and Bethesda.net. The current pages available from those sources do not substantiate a specific two-game, 24-hour promotion. They do not identify the games, platform, deadline, geographic scope or the type of access being offered.
That means readers should not assume the headline refers to PC, Xbox, PlayStation, a Bethesda.net account or any particular store. “For some” could describe a regional restriction, an account requirement, a subscription tier or another eligibility condition, but no condition has been established for this offer.
Details you must confirm before claiming anything
| Question | Current status |
|---|---|
| Which two games? | Not stated in a verified announcement. |
| Which platform or storefront? | Not stated. |
| When does the 24-hour period start and end? | Not stated; the time zone is unknown. |
| Which countries or regions qualify? | Not stated. |
| Is an account, subscription or membership required? | Not stated. |
| Does a claim provide permanent ownership or temporary play? | Not stated. |
Do not enter payment details or download an unfamiliar installer solely because a social post repeats the headline. Wait for an official store listing or publisher notice that answers each question.

How to verify the promotion safely
- Identify the original announcement. Follow the link from Bethesda’s official site or the relevant platform’s verified store page, rather than relying on a repost.
- Record the exact game names and edition. Deluxe, remastered and downloadable-content versions can have different listings and entitlements.
- Check the timer and time zone. A “24-hour” window may be shown in UTC or a local storefront time; note both the opening and closing timestamp.
- Read eligibility text. Look for country restrictions, account age rules, membership requirements, platform ownership and limits on new or existing users.
- Confirm the license language. The checkout page or promotion terms should say whether the game is added to your library permanently or playable only during the event.
- Claim through the official store. Sign in at the store named in the announcement and verify that the title appears in your library or order history before closing the page.
Permanent giveaway versus free trial
Steam’s documentation distinguishes two commonly confused promotions. A Free to Keep event uses a 100% discount and grants a permanent license when the player claims the game during the promotion. Steam says these promotions must run for at least 24 hours to accommodate time zones. A Free Weekend, by contrast, grants temporary access and ends when the event closes. These are general Steam rules, not proof that the Bethesda offer is on Steam or that it is a Free to Keep event. The terminology is documented at Steamworks’ Free to Keep guidance.
Do not confuse it with Xbox’s October promotion
Xbox Wire separately announced Free Play Days for Far Cry 6, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Skull and Bones and The Crew Motorfest from October 1 through October 4, 2026. That announcement said Xbox members could participate without a Game Pass membership. It names Ubisoft games and is unrelated to the unverified Bethesda headline; it cannot be used to infer Bethesda’s games, dates or requirements. See the original notice at Xbox Wire.

What to do if a listing appears
- Compare the platform, region and deadline against the official announcement.
- Check the final price at checkout: it should show the advertised discount before you confirm.
- Capture the entitlement wording and confirmation page for your records.
- If the offer disappears early, contact the storefront’s support team with the listing URL and your account region; do not repeatedly purchase a title while the terms are unclear.
Until an official listing supplies those missing details, there is no reliable basis to say that two Bethesda games are free for 24 hours or that claiming them would provide permanent ownership.
