Some Fallout Power Fist replicas are wearable, but “wearable” is not a universal specification. A high-density-foam and cast-resin build is advertised for cosplay and weighs less than 4 pounds. A licensed Chronicle Collectibles version is an 18-inch (45.72 cm) plastic display prop; its retailer listing does not document a hand strap, cuff, or other ergonomic mounting system. Treat that model as a collectible until the seller confirms how it attaches to your arm.
Before buying or taking one to an event, verify the actual replica’s mass, dimensions, attachment hardware, sharp or projecting parts, and the venue’s prop policy. Measurements from one listing do not define every Power Fist build.
What “wearable” should mean for a Power Fist
A wearable prop should stay attached to your arm without being continuously held, leave enough clearance for your hand and forearm, and remain manageable while you walk, sit, turn, and use your other hand. It also needs an attachment method that does not rely on a fragile decorative panel or a loose friction fit.
That definition is stricter than a seller saying a prop is suitable for cosplay. “Wearable” describes the intended use, not a guarantee that the prop will be comfortable for hours, survive impacts, or pass a convention inspection. Ask for photographs of the inside, the strap or cuff, and the contact points before ordering.

Will an 18-inch Power Fist fit on your arm?
An 18-inch external length is a prop measurement, not an arm-size measurement. It may describe the complete shell from the rear housing to the fist or another longest dimension. It does not tell you the internal opening, the distance from your wrist to your elbow, or how far the fist projects beyond your hand.
To check fit, request or measure four things:
- Internal hand opening: Measure around the widest part of your hand, including the thumb, with your hand in the position used to enter the prop.
- Forearm clearance: Measure the circumference of your forearm at the point where the cuff or strap will sit. Add room for clothing and padding.
- Wearable length: Compare the prop’s inside length with the distance from your wrist to the point where the rear housing would stop. A long shell can collide with your elbow when you bend your arm.
- Projection and balance: Ask how far the fist extends in front of your knuckles and where the center of mass sits. A large forward projection creates leverage even when the scale weight seems modest.
Do not infer any of these dimensions from the 18-inch exterior figure. If a seller cannot provide internal measurements or clear photos, assume that fitting will require modification and that long-duration wear is uncertain.
How heavy is a Power Fist prop?
The documented examples range from a 3-pound marketplace listing to a handmade build advertised at less than 4 pounds. Those numbers are not interchangeable: the 3-pound figure belongs to a specific Night Moth Creations listing and option, while “less than 4 pounds” is the AlexanderTitanium seller’s description. Neither number proves that another build, colorway, or hardware package weighs the same.
Material changes how that weight feels. High-density foam can reduce the mass of a large shell, while cast-resin details add stiffness and surface detail. Plastic can provide a hard, consistent exterior suited to display, but a hard shell concentrates pressure at straps, edges, and your wrist. A lightweight prop can still become tiring if its mass is far in front of your hand or if a narrow strap cuts into your skin.

Ask whether the stated weight includes batteries, decorative parts, straps, paint, and packaging. For a custom build, request the finished, assembled weight rather than the weight of an empty shell. If you plan to wear it for several hours, test a similarly positioned load on your arm before committing to a purchase.
Plastic versus foam and resin
Licensed plastic collectible
The Chronicle Collectibles version listed by BigBadToyStore is an officially licensed, 18-inch plastic prop created from Bethesda’s 3D assets. That supports its value as a display piece and as a faithful licensed design. The retailer page is marked sold out, and it does not document a wearable cuff, hand strap, or other mounting system. Unless the seller confirms otherwise, plan to display it or carry it rather than wear it continuously.

The retailer’s warnings identify sharp points, small parts, and choking hazards. Those warnings are consistent with treating the item as a collectible prop, not as protective equipment or a striking tool.
Foam with cast-resin details
The AlexanderTitanium listing combines high-density foam and cast-resin pieces and explicitly describes the result as wearable for conventions, films, haunted attractions, and cosplay. Its stated mass is less than 4 pounds. Foam can make a large prop easier to carry, while resin details preserve a harder, more finished appearance.
Wearability still depends on the particular strap, cuff, seams, and finish. Inspect the foam for compression, the resin for cracks, and every fastener for pull-out or loosening. A seller’s wearable description should prompt questions about construction; it should not replace an inspection.

DIY and assembled marketplace options
The Night Moth Creations TikTok Shop listing gives 15 × 8 × 8 inches and 3 pounds and offers painted, DIY, and assembled choices. A DIY kit may require you to install or reinforce the attachment system, while an assembled option may have different hardware or final weight. Treat the published dimensions as listing-specific and confirm which option the measurements describe.
Attachment systems: the detail that decides real wearability
A convincing exterior can hide an unsuitable interior. Ask for a view of the attachment system and check whether it has:
- A broad cuff, padded strap, or harness that spreads pressure instead of a single narrow cord.
- Adjustability for bare arms, sleeves, and seasonal clothing.
- Fasteners anchored to a load-bearing frame rather than thin decorative foam or a removable panel.
- Enough room to release the prop quickly if your hand, wrist, or fingers become trapped.
- No exposed screw ends, rough resin, sharp trim, or hot glue that can abrade skin.
Try the prop with your elbow bent and your hand relaxed. If the shell rotates, blocks your fingers, or forces your wrist into an unnatural angle, it is not practically wearable for extended periods without modification. Do not drill or cut a licensed collectible until you have confirmed that the alteration will not damage a returnable item or compromise its structure.
Safety checks before wearing one
Inspect the prop
- Run a gloved hand over edges and points, then inspect the same areas without the glove only if they feel smooth.
- Look for loose resin parts, cracked plastic, split foam, peeling paint, and fasteners that move under light pressure.
- Confirm that the hand can exit without force and that no strap can tighten unexpectedly.
- Check the floor clearance around the fist and rear housing while walking, turning, and sitting.
Use it as a prop, never as a weapon
Do not swing, strike, shove, or use a Power Fist to move objects. Keep the fist away from faces, children, pets, displays, and crowded doorways. Hard plastic and resin can injure someone even when the prop is light. Remove it before driving, climbing stairs where it obstructs your view, or performing any task that needs both hands.
Watch for fatigue and pressure
Stop wearing it if you develop numbness, tingling, wrist pain, skin discoloration, or shoulder strain. A break in wear time is safer than tightening a strap to keep a tired prop from rotating. Carry a separate bag or case so you can remove the prop without setting it on a dirty or wet floor.

Can you bring a Power Fist to a convention?
There is no universal convention rule. LuxCon’s published Cosplay & Prop Safety Policy says cosplay props are allowed when they are safe and clearly non-functional. Its requirements include being lightweight, having no sharp edges, being unable to launch projectiles, and passing inspection when requested. The convention may issue a safety tag and reserves the right to prohibit or remove a prop judged unsafe.
That policy is one event’s rule, not a guarantee of admission elsewhere. Before traveling:
- Read the exact event’s current weapons and prop policy, including size, material, inspection, and storage requirements.
- Email the convention with photographs, external dimensions, weight, and the attachment method. Ask for a written answer.
- Bring the prop unloaded and clearly non-functional. Do not add springs, launchers, pyrotechnics, lasers, or any mechanism that could project an object.
- Plan for inspection and carry a compliant alternative if staff reject the Power Fist.
- Follow staff instructions immediately; a seller’s “wearable” label cannot override venue safety rules.
Buying checklist
Use this checklist before paying for a replica:
- Exact version: Identify whether you are buying the licensed plastic prop, a foam/resin handmade build, a DIY kit, or an assembled marketplace option.
- Finished weight: Request the assembled weight with straps, resin parts, paint, and any included hardware.
- Internal measurements: Get hand opening, forearm clearance, and wearable length—not only the longest exterior dimension.
- Attachment: Confirm strap width, adjustability, padding, anchor points, and emergency release.
- Surface safety: Ask about sharp points, exposed fasteners, brittle details, and small detachable parts.
- Stock and returns: Verify current availability and whether modifications void a return. The cited BigBadToyStore licensed listing is currently sold out.
- Event compatibility: Send the specifications to the convention before ordering if attendance is the main reason for purchase.
Storage, transport, and maintenance
Support a large prop at its frame or cuff rather than lifting it by a decorative finger, blade, or antenna. Use padding around hard plastic and resin surfaces during transport, and keep foam away from heat that can deform it. After each wear session, inspect attachment points and allow any perspiration or moisture to dry before storing. Keep small detached parts away from children; the licensed listing specifically warns about small parts and choking hazards.
For a custom or modified build, record the original weight and dimensions, photograph the attachment points, and keep spare fasteners or straps that match the installed hardware. These records make it easier to explain the prop during inspection and to identify changes after repairs.

Are Fallout Power Fist replicas wearable?

Is a foam Power Fist automatically safe?
No. Foam can lower mass, but straps, resin details, edges, fasteners, and the prop’s balance still determine comfort and risk. Inspect the finished item and follow the venue’s rules.
