For a large emergency or area light, the Costco Infinity X1 7,000L flashlight may be worth the money; for everyday carry or long-distance spotting, its size and broad beam may be a poor fit. Owners in a November 2024 discussion praised its brightness and usefulness during outages, while also mentioning weight, heat, limited reach and individual charging or battery problems. Those are anecdotal reports, not a reliability study or an independent test of the flashlight’s advertised performance.
Which Costco Infinity flashlight are owners discussing?

What do owners say about brightness and everyday usefulness?
In a November 7, 2024 r/Costco discussion, owners described the light as “super bright” and a “great emergency light.” Examples included using it during power outages, on dog walks, to illuminate a driveway or yard, and for broad indoor lighting. What are the main drawbacks owners mention?
It can feel bulky for carrying
Some commenters found the flashlight too large or heavy for their needs. One owner called it “too heavy” and “too big/long” for dog walks. That trade-off matters more for a light you carry regularly than one kept for outages or occasional use around a property.
The beam may not reach as far as expected
A commenter said “the beam is pretty wide even at the narrowest setting.” That is an owner impression, not a measured beam test, but it highlights a practical distinction: broad coverage can be useful for lighting a room or yard while being less satisfying for someone who wants a narrow hotspot to illuminate a distant target.

Owners report heat during longer use
One commenter wrote, “It gets fairly warm after a long use.” Infinity X1 says the 7,000L model has thermal heat sensing and automatic dimming, but the available owner comments do not quantify temperatures or establish how often dimming occurs. A maximum-lumen claim should not be read as a promise that maximum output is sustained indefinitely.
Battery and charging experiences vary
Some owners said the battery performed well or held charge during light use; others described disappointing endurance at high settings. The discussion also includes individual reports of a corroded charging port, a rechargeable pack that stopped charging, or a unit that would not stay charged. There is no verified diagnosis or total number of units behind these reports, so they do not establish a failure rate or prove a design defect.

What the available evidence can—and cannot—tell you
The owner discussion is self-selected and anecdotal. It offers useful examples of what people liked and what bothered them, but it cannot show how common charging or battery problems are. The manufacturer publishes the 7,000L model’s lumen, beam-distance and runtime figures, but no independent controlled test of that model is established by the available sources. A separate manual for a different 5,000L flashlight lists mode-specific output and runtime figures; those values do not apply to the 7,000L model.
