Yes—many Casio Pro Trek watches can handle swimming and daily use, but only when the exact model carries a 5-bar, 10-bar or 20-bar water-resistance marking. Casio does not give the entire Pro Trek family one universal rating. Check the watch’s caseback and module manual before swimming; never use it for scuba diving or press buttons while it is underwater.
Start with the exact water-resistance marking
“Pro Trek” is a product family, not a single water-resistance specification. Casio’s operating guidance for water-resistant watches identifies swimming as acceptable for models marked 5BAR, 10BAR or 20BAR. The marking normally appears on the caseback, packaging or the technical section of the model’s manual. Use the rating printed for your watch rather than assuming another Pro Trek model has the same protection.
Casio’s operating precautions for module 3513 are useful as a safety baseline, but an older watch, a watch with a different module, or one that has been opened for repair still requires its own manual and condition check.

Water resistance is not a promise that every seal will remain perfect indefinitely. Gaskets age, a cracked crystal or case can compromise protection, and a repair can change the watch’s condition. If the watch has visible damage, has been opened by an unauthorised repairer, or has not been maintained for years, treat the rating cautiously and have it inspected before swimming.

Pro Trek models with documented swimming-suitable ratings
Casio’s product pages provide several concrete examples. They show why model-level checking matters: these watches have different ratings, sizes, weights and band constructions even though all are in the Pro Trek range.

These specifications are useful comparison points, not a laboratory comfort test. A 103-gram watch with a 16.8 mm-thick case will feel different from a 59-gram watch with a soft urethane band, and wrist shape, strap adjustment and personal tolerance determine whether either feels comfortable.

- Verify the watch before leaving home. Read the caseback marking and the exact module manual. Check that the crystal, bezel, caseback and buttons show no cracks, gaps or unusual looseness. Do not swim with a damaged or recently opened watch until it has been checked.
- Secure the band, but do not overtighten it. The watch should not slide around during a stroke, yet pressure from an excessively tight band is uncomfortable and can stress the strap. A soft urethane band, such as the one listed for the PRG-601-1, is a practical swimming-oriented material; never assume a leather replacement is equivalent.
- Leave the controls alone in the water. Do not press buttons, turn a crown or operate another control while the watch is submerged or wet. Set alarms, timers and other functions before entering the pool or sea.
- Avoid hot and chemically harsh environments. Casio specifically cautions against heated swimming pools, saunas and high-temperature or high-humidity conditions. Soap and detergents can also affect materials and seals, so do not use the watch as a scrub-resistant bath accessory.
- Rinse after salt water. After sea swimming, rinse the watch with plain fresh water to remove salt and dirt. Wipe it dry with a soft cloth and allow the band and case to dry before storing it.
- Inspect it afterward. Look for trapped grit, a loose band pin, a damaged crystal or controls that feel abnormal. Stop using it in water if anything has changed and arrange service.
Activities Casio does not consider covered by ordinary water resistance
Scuba and air-tank diving
Casio advises against using a water-resistant watch for scuba diving or other diving that requires an air tank. A 20-bar marking on the PRT-B70T-7 therefore should not be presented as a scuba rating. The same restriction applies to 10-bar and 5-bar models.
Operating buttons underwater
Water resistance assumes the watch remains closed. Pressing a button or operating the crown while submerged or wet can defeat that protection. Configure the watch before swimming and wait until it is dry before changing settings.
Heated pools, saunas and extreme humidity
Casio’s precautions specifically call out heated pools and saunas. High temperature and humidity can affect seals, lubricants and materials even when ordinary pool swimming is allowed.

Soap, detergent and contaminated water
Casio cautions against exposure to soap and detergents. Rinse plain salt water and dirt away with fresh water rather than adding household cleaners. If the watch has been exposed to chemicals, follow the exact module’s cleaning instructions or ask an authorised service centre for advice.
Is a Pro Trek practical for everyday wear?
Yes, provided the case size, thickness, weight and band suit your wrist and routine. Casio’s product descriptions present the cited models for outdoor or daily use, but “comfortable” is subjective. Use the published dimensions as a fit filter rather than as a guarantee.
Compare size and weight before buying
- PRT-B70T-7: At 57.5 × 50.8 × 16.8 mm and 103 g, it is the largest and heaviest example in this comparison. It may suit someone who likes a substantial watch, while a smaller wrist may find the height or weight intrusive under a sleeve.
- PRW-B1000-1: Its 50.8 × 45.8 × 14.9 mm case and 79 g weight sit between the other two documented examples. The bio-based resin and stainless-steel construction offer a different material balance from a full titanium-band model.
- PRG-601-1: At 51.6 × 51.5 × 14.8 mm and 59 g, it is the lightest example listed. Its soft urethane band can be easier to live with during active use, but the large, nearly square footprint still needs to fit the wearer’s wrist.
Measure your wrist and compare the listed length, width and height with a watch you already wear successfully. Case width alone does not describe how a watch sits: lug shape, bezel profile and band articulation also affect overhang and movement, so try the exact model when possible.

Choose the band for the way you wear it
Band material matters for both comfort and water use. The PRG-601-1 listing specifies soft urethane, while the PRT-B70T-7 uses a titanium band. Casio’s guidance cautions against swimming with leather bands, so a leather replacement should not be treated as a universal upgrade for pool or sea use. Replacement bands must match the exact model; Pro Trek bands are not automatically interchangeable.
Think about work, travel and clothing
A thick outdoor watch can catch on cuffs, gloves or backpack straps. A heavier metal band may feel secure but can add noticeable weight during all-day typing or travel. Conversely, a light resin or urethane band may be easier for exercise and humid weather. These are fit and preference decisions, not claims that one model is objectively more comfortable than another.
Maintenance that preserves water resistance
Replace aging gaskets
Casio recommends replacing gaskets about every two or three years. The interval is a maintenance guideline, not a guarantee that a watch remains safe until the exact day it expires. Arrange service sooner if the watch has been opened, exposed to impact, or shows condensation beneath the crystal.

Use the right service channel
Casio says battery replacement should be handled by the original retailer or an authorised Casio service centre. The same approach is sensible for pressure testing, gasket replacement and repairs that require opening the case. After any case-opening service, ask whether water-resistance testing was performed and keep the service record.
Clean without stressing the seals
- Rinse salt and dirt with plain water after seawater exposure.
- Dry the case, buttons and band with a soft cloth.
- Do not use household detergent, solvents or abrasive tools.
- Do not insert objects around buttons, the bezel or the caseback.
- Store the watch dry and away from sustained heat and humidity.
A decision checklist for your specific Pro Trek
- Find the model and module number. Record the full designation, not just “Pro Trek.”
- Confirm the water marking. Accept swimming only when the watch is marked 5BAR, 10BAR or 20BAR and the model manual agrees.
- Check condition and service history. Reject water use for cracked parts, condensation, loose controls or an unknown recent repair until inspected.
- Match the band to the activity. Prefer the manufacturer-specified water-appropriate band; do not swim in a leather band.
- Compare fit data. Use case dimensions, thickness and weight to decide whether the watch will work with your wrist, clothing and daily tasks.
- Plan maintenance. Track the roughly two-to-three-year gasket guidance and use an authorised Casio channel for batteries and sealing work.
If all six checks pass, a properly maintained, correctly rated Pro Trek can be a practical swimming and everyday-wear watch. If any check fails—especially an unknown rating, visible damage or overdue sealing service—keep it out of the water until the exact manual or an authorised technician resolves the uncertainty.
