ArchPath is presented by its creator, Orest Klymko, as a free system-design course built around an interactive traffic simulator. You arrange modeled servers, load balancers, caches, queues, and databases, run a workload, then compare simulated latency, errors, utilization, and cost. The key distinction: these are repeatable model outputs, not measurements from real infrastructure.
How the ArchPath simulator works
The course puts an architecture on a canvas. You connect components, apply a workload, and observe how the modeled system responds as demand changes. Because the simulator is described as deterministic and browser-based, the same design and workload are intended to produce the same numbers, making it easier to change one design choice at a time and compare outcomes.
The creator says the simulator models component properties such as capacity, latency, cache hit ratio, and cost. Its cache and queue components are not real Redis or Kafka services running behind the scenes. That makes the exercise useful for exploring cause and effect without provisioning infrastructure, but it also means the outputs should not be treated as production forecasts.
What the output is meant to show
- Latency, including tail-latency examples such as p99.
- Errors under the selected workload.
- Utilization for individual nodes, which can help expose bottlenecks.
- A modeled monthly bill, so capacity and cost trade-offs are visible together.
What the course says it covers
Klymko’s October 5, 2026 DEV Community article describes 52 topics organized into 10 acts, around 200 production-incident scenarios, and a sandbox for shaping a custom workload. Example incident themes include bad deployments, hot keys, retry storms, and a region failure. Those counts and descriptions are the creator’s account of the course; they are not an independent audit of its catalog.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The incident format is a practical way to connect design choices with failure behavior: rather than only drawing a diagram, learners can change demand or conditions and inspect what happens in the model. The article does not establish how closely any particular scenario reproduces the behavior of a real service.
How to read the traffic example
The article illustrates one simulated workload in which traffic doubles. In that scenario, the model shows p99 latency rising above 400 ms and database utilization reaching 86%. After a cache is added, the illustrated output falls to 140 ms latency and 30% database utilization.

Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
These values describe that example inside the simulator. They were not reported as measurements from real services or independently validated results, and they do not establish that adding a cache to a production system would produce the same improvement. Actual results depend on workload, data access patterns, cache behavior, network conditions, implementation, and many other details.
Who may find it useful—and what it cannot replace
ArchPath may suit learners who want to experiment with architecture choices and see modeled consequences rather than study diagrams alone. It can help make questions such as “where is the bottleneck?” or “what trade-off does a cache introduce?” more concrete. System-design interview candidates can use that kind of practice to reason through assumptions and bottlenecks.

- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
It is not evidence of hands-on experience operating Redis, Kafka, databases, or production systems: the article explicitly describes modeled components rather than live services. Nor does it establish that simulator figures predict real-world performance. Treat the results as a learning aid for forming hypotheses, not as capacity-planning numbers or an architecture approval.
Access and practical details
The creator describes the course as free and says no account is needed. Progress remains in the browser unless a learner signs up, and the course works best on a laptop. The article does not specify browser compatibility, privacy or data-retention terms, what signing up changes, or whether access terms may change; check the course itself for current details.

The author specifically invites feedback from people who conduct system-design interviews or operate systems in production, asking whether the numbers seem wrong and which topics are too easy or confusing. That request is a call for evaluation, not proof that the simulator has already been independently validated.
What to check when evaluating a simulator-based course
If you are deciding whether this format fits your learning goals, focus on the questions the course article leaves open as well as the features it describes:
Best Value

- Can you vary the workload and failure conditions, or only inspect fixed diagrams?
- Are latency, errors, utilization, and cost exposed clearly enough to compare design choices?
- Does the course explain the assumptions behind its component models and outputs?
- Do you need modeled practice, or do you also need labs on real infrastructure?
- Are the current access and progress-storage details suitable for your browser and workflow?
