In ARC Raiders, Outpost progression begins with a project rather than an immediately available upgrade screen. You must complete the project’s opening photography task, then the unlocked Outpost can be expanded with modules. The official Frozen Trail 2.0 notes confirm access to a research station and 22 furniture designs tied to Outpost upgrades, but they do not publish module names, material costs, tiers, or individual effects.
How Outpost progression works
The Outpost arrived in the Frozen Trail 2.0 update published on October 8, 2026. Its progression has two separate stages: unlocking the feature through a project and expanding the unlocked space with modules. Treating those as different stages matters because the project is the documented entry requirement, while the details of later module upgrades remain unpublished.
The official description is brief: “Outpost can be expanded with different modules.” That confirms modular growth, but it does not identify a fixed upgrade tree, a preferred order, resource requirements, or a best module. Any guide that lists exact module costs or ranks one module above another is adding information not contained in the published update notes.
Requirements to unlock the Outpost
Begin the Outpost project
The first requirement is to complete the Outpost project. The project is the gate that makes the feature available; the update does not describe an alternate shortcut or a separate purchase requirement.

Complete “Research Topside Living Conditions”
The project’s initial step is named “Research Topside Living Conditions.” It requires a photograph of a farmland house. The wording identifies the target as a farmland house, so photographing another type of building should not be assumed to satisfy the objective.
Obtain the Camera quest item
You need the in-game Camera to carry out the photography objective. The update lists three acquisition routes:
- Buy it from Shani. This is an in-game vendor route.
- Craft it at the Workbench. The notes confirm crafting is possible, but do not publish the recipe or required materials.
- Find it Topside. The Camera can also appear as a Topside find.
These are alternatives, not a sequence. You do not need a real-world camera, a gaming accessory, or a paid add-on to satisfy the quest. The Camera is a quest item inside ARC Raiders.
Take the required photograph
With the Camera obtained, complete the project step by photographing a farmland house. The official notes establish the required subject but do not state a particular map route, distance, angle, or weather condition. Follow the objective text shown in your current project interface if it asks for any additional positioning detail.

What unlocking gives you
Research-station access
Unlocking the Outpost also unlocks access to the research station. The update confirms the access itself; it does not define a separate research-station level, list its projects, or attach a separate fee to entering it. Do not confuse access with a published upgrade schedule: no research tiers are documented in the Outpost section.
Modular expansion
Once unlocked, the Outpost can be expanded with different modules. A module is therefore an expansion component, not merely a furniture item. The official notes do not say how many modules exist, whether they are mutually exclusive, or whether every player receives the same sequence. They also do not state whether modules affect combat preparation, storage, crafting, research speed, appearance, or another system.
Furniture-design rewards
Outpost upgrades are associated with 22 furniture designs. The notes do not map a particular design to a named module or to a specific upgrade level, so the documented benefit is the overall design count rather than a module-by-module reward chart.

These are collection-level figures from the official update summary, not an inventory of named objects. The notes do not identify which 22 designs belong to which module or tier. They also do not say whether a design found Topside can later be obtained through another route, so the categories should not be treated as a guaranteed one-to-one ownership chart.
Information the official notes do not provide
Several details players commonly look for are absent from the published Outpost description:
- Module names or a complete module list.
- Material requirements, currency costs, or crafting recipes for upgrades.
- Upgrade tiers, prerequisites between modules, or a maximum Outpost level.
- Individual benefits for each module.
- A list assigning each of the 22 upgrade-unlocked furniture designs to a module or level.
- A comparison showing which module is most efficient or should be built first.
Because those values are not stated, avoid farming a specific resource on the assumption that it is an Outpost currency, and avoid choosing a module based on an unofficial cost table presented as confirmed. The only documented Camera crafting fact is that the Workbench is one acquisition route; its recipe is not published in the update information.

- Open the Outpost project. Use the project entry as the authoritative checklist for your current character.
- Read the first objective exactly. The documented opening task is “Research Topside Living Conditions.”
- Secure a Camera by the route available to you. Buy it from Shani, craft it at the Workbench, or search for it Topside.
- Photograph a farmland house. Make the photograph required by the project rather than substituting another building type.
- Finish the project and enter the unlocked Outpost. The reward is access to the feature and its research-station entry point.
- Inspect the available expansion interface. The Outpost is documented as modular, but the update does not publish a universal order or price list. Use the costs and effects shown in your live game rather than relying on an unverified chart.
This approach separates confirmed requirements from information that may only appear in the game client or in a later official announcement.

The Frozen Trail 2.0 notes list several Outpost-specific issues. They are important when an upgrade appears to behave incorrectly because the problem may be a known bug rather than a missing requirement.
Furniture clipping through the structure
Furniture can clip through the Outpost structure. If an object appears partly inside a wall, floor, or another structural element, try removing it and placing it in a different position or orientation. That is a practical placement workaround, not a confirmed permanent fix.

A slot can become unselectable when furniture blocks it. Clear the obstructing object before concluding that the slot or upgrade is permanently unavailable. The update identifies this as an issue affecting selection.

Camera obstruction from furniture or the character model
From some angles, furniture or the player character can obstruct the camera view. Repositioning the character or changing the viewing angle may make placement and inspection easier, but the notes do not promise that every angle will remain unobstructed.
Corrupted lighting with Shadow quality set to Low
The main building can show corrupted lighting when Shadow quality is set to Low. Raising Shadow quality is a reasonable temporary troubleshooting step if your hardware allows it, although the update does not describe that setting change as an official fix.
The update says most of these fixes were in the works for a future Live Update. No release date is given for those Outpost fixes in the published section, so there is no documented patch deadline to use when planning around the issues.

When the live interface supplies module-specific information, compare options using four questions rather than a presumed universal ranking:
- Requirements: What materials, currency, project stage, or other prerequisite does the module show?
- Utility: What direct function does it add or improve?
- Design reward: Does the interface identify a furniture design or another cosmetic reward?
- Opportunity cost: Does selecting it prevent, delay, or replace another expansion?
This framework is useful because the official update confirms modular expansion but does not establish that every player faces identical choices. Record the values displayed in your own version and region, especially if a later Live Update changes costs or unlock conditions.
What counts as a confirmed benefit
Three benefits are currently established by the October 8 update: access to the research station after the Outpost project is unlocked, the ability to expand the Outpost with modules, and 22 furniture designs associated with Outpost upgrades. The update also records the wider furniture pool and its Topside, Frozen Trail Pass, and DLC categories, but it does not connect those categories to specific module choices.
That distinction keeps expectations realistic. The published material supports the existence of the feature and its collection rewards; it does not support claims about faster research, extra storage, improved defenses, resource generation, or a best upgrade path.
