The Grappling Hook is a traversal gadget added to ARC Raiders in the Frozen Trail 2.0 update on October 8, 2026. Embark says it can help Raiders climb to hard-to-reach spots, abseil from buildings, and swing across large gaps. Those movement options may create useful combat positioning, but the official descriptions do not establish that the hook damages enemies, guarantees an escape, or works on every surface.
What the Grappling Hook does
Embark describes the gadget as a way to climb hard-to-reach places, descend from buildings by abseiling, and swing over large gaps. These are its documented traversal roles, not a promise that every wall, ledge, or opening has a valid grapple point. See the Frozen Trail 2.0 update notes and the Frozen Trail preview.
The update presents the Grappling Hook as distinct from the Snap Hook rather than as a simple upgrade. The notes’ range, durability-use, and power-cost figures apply to the Snap Hook only; they are not Grappling Hook specifications.
Use it for the route the terrain calls for
Climb to a hard-to-reach spot
When a route requires elevation, the Grappling Hook is intended to help reach places that are otherwise difficult to access. Treat a particular ledge or structure as a possible route, not a confirmed grapple point: the official description does not specify which surfaces accept the hook.

Abseil from a building
Embark specifically identifies abseiling off buildings as a use. This can make a descent route relevant when choosing how to leave an elevated position. The description does not specify how descent is controlled or whether every building supports it.
Swing across a gap
The hook is also intended to help Raiders swing over large gaps. Whether a specific opening can be crossed depends on details the official material does not establish, including anchor restrictions and usable distance. Do not assume every gap is traversable.
What it can—and cannot yet be said to do—in combat
The confirmed combat relevance is indirect: a climb, descent, or gap crossing may change your position or route. That is a tactical possibility inferred from the stated traversal functions, not a verified combat effect.
The official descriptions do not say whether the hook can target enemies, cause damage or interruption, break line of sight, provide protection while moving, or reliably escape an encounter. They also do not establish reuse time, behavior while taking damage, or whether its movement is audible. Avoid relying on any of those outcomes without checking them in the current game.
Controls and Grappling Hook stats
Embark’s cited preview and update notes do not list the keyboard, mouse, or gamepad inputs for firing, attaching, climbing, descending, releasing, or stowing the Grappling Hook. Check the current in-game control settings for your platform rather than assuming the Snap Hook’s inputs apply. Frozen Trail 2.0 also changed default gamepad mapping generally.
