Extraction camping in ARC Raiders is not a bug you can solve with one magic distance. Main extraction points are deliberately high-attention locations: they attract ARC machines and rival Raiders, while the call and countdown create a noisy, predictable exposure window. The safest approach is to choose a short route, scout the final approach, clear nearby ARC, keep cover and an escape line, and test suspicious hiding places with smoke or a Heavy Fuze Grenade before committing.

There is no authoritative published number for an ARC aggro radius or a player-hearing radius. Treat “aggro range” as a set of conditions—distance, line of sight, movement, combat state and sound—rather than a fixed circle. Raider Hatches can reduce exposure, but keys and squad-extraction limits make them a situational alternative, not a universal answer.

Why extraction points become camps

Embark Studios describes normal extraction points as risk-and-reward locations: they have no direct cost, but they “draw a lot of attention from both ARC and other players.” That design creates a predictable convergence point. Anyone carrying valuable loot has a reason to arrive there, and anyone looking for a fight can watch the same approach lanes.

The danger is therefore layered. ARC machines may already occupy the area or join a fight after you begin the extraction sequence. Other Raiders can hear or observe activity, hold a sightline, and wait for a team that has committed to the countdown. A route that is safe while you are looting can become dangerous when it ends at a known extraction.

Calling an elevator also creates commitment. You must remain close enough to use the extraction when it arrives, yet you cannot know whether another squad has reached the surrounding cover first. The practical goal is not to make the point safe; it is to reduce the time, noise and angles through which threats can reach you.

What “aggro range” really means

No authoritative source currently publishes a single numerical ARC aggro radius or a player-hearing radius. Any exact number presented without a patch, map, test method and version is speculation. Plan around observable conditions instead.

Distance is only one input

Distance affects whether a machine or player can detect you, but the same distance can produce different results depending on what is between you and the observer. A direct line of sight, an exposed crossing or an active fight makes detection more likely than a quiet movement behind solid cover. A player who has already heard a call may also watch a much wider area than someone simply passing through.

Line of sight and movement

Crossing open ground near an extraction gives an observer a clean visual cue and limits your options. Slow, covered movement can preserve an escape route, while sprinting into the zone advertises your position and consumes the stamina needed for the final move. These are tactical relationships, not published meter values.

Combat state changes the problem

An ARC machine that is already engaged, alerted or firing is a different threat from one that has not noticed you. Gunfire and a prolonged fight can pull additional attention toward the point, leaving you to deal with both the original target and the players who heard the encounter. Clearing nearby machines before starting the countdown is recommended because it removes one source of compound pressure.

Sound can reach farther than a visual check

Calling an elevator, fighting ARC, moving through the area and using other sound-producing actions can reveal that an extraction is active even when no one has seen you. A quiet final approach does not make the call quiet. Assume that the call creates an audible, predictable period during which a rival can reposition.

How the extraction noise window works

The Epic Games Store’s extraction guidance emphasizes learning point locations, planning routes and recognizing that extraction activity makes noise. A community wiki reports that an elevator takes about 45 seconds to arrive after it is called and that its noise can attract predators, ARC and players. That timing is a community report, not an official specification; it can vary by extraction type, map, update or the point’s actual interaction state.

Use the reported delay as a planning model rather than a stopwatch. Once you call, assume that anyone already nearby has time to investigate, take cover or wait for the final interaction. Keep a usable escape angle during the countdown instead of standing in the most obvious spot beside the control. Preserve enough stamina to make the final move only after you have checked the approach.

A safer extraction procedure

Use this sequence whenever the backpack is valuable or the final area feels uncertain.

  1. Choose the point that ends your route. Select the extraction nearest the end of your planned loot path. Crossing the whole map late in a raid adds travel time and creates more opportunities to arrive during someone else’s contested window.
  2. Scout before interacting. Stop short of the final approach and inspect likely sightlines, hard cover, entrances and exits. Look for positions from which a waiting Raider could watch the elevator or the last few metres of the route.
  3. Clear nearby ARC machines. Eliminate or otherwise deal with machines that can join the fight before you start the countdown. This is specifically recommended in an extraction guide updated 7 October 2026 because an additional ARC threat can turn a player engagement into a compound fight.
  4. Call from a position you can leave. Do not choose the most exposed interaction angle merely because it is closest. Keep cover nearby, an escape direction and enough stamina for the final move. The call is an exposure event, so your position must support a change of plan.
  5. Probe suspicious cover. If a rock, doorway, roofline or other likely hiding place looks occupied, throw a Smoke Grenade or Heavy Fuze Grenade into the zone before entering it. These tools can check a suspected camp and force a hidden player to react; they do not prove that every angle is clear.
  6. Re-evaluate alternatives. If a Raider Hatch is available, compare its key requirement, squad capacity and travel distance with the normal point. A hatch is useful only if the detour and access limits do not create a worse risk.
  7. Leave when the loot justifies it. Extract early when the backpack is valuable. Continuing to search for one more item increases the chance that you reach an extraction during a contested window or arrive with too little stamina and too few options.

Raider Hatches versus normal extraction points

Raider Hatches are presented as a safer alternative, but they trade exposure for restrictions. They require keys and have squad-extraction limitations. A normal point has no direct cost, yet its visibility and popularity attract both ARC and other players. Decide based on the whole route, not on the label “safe.”

Factor Normal extraction point Raider Hatch
Access No direct cost is identified in Embark’s risk-and-reward description. Requires a key.
Player attention Designed to draw attention from ARC and other Raiders; activity is noisy and predictable. Described as safer, but its actual exposure still depends on approach, timing and nearby players.
ARC pressure Nearby machines can join the countdown fight unless you clear them first. No source establishes that a hatch is free of ARC; scout and clear the approach as you would any other point.
Squad use Use the normal point when its capacity and route fit your group. Has squad-extraction limitations, so confirm that the whole squad can use it before detouring.
Travel cost Often the practical choice when it is nearest the end of the loot route. A key-secured point can be worse if reaching it requires a long, exposed crossing.
Fallback planning Choose cover and an alternate direction before calling. Still needs scouting, cover and a fallback; “safer” is not the same as guaranteed.

Because no source establishes a universal safest extraction, compare the hatch and the normal point on key availability, squad capacity, distance, sightlines, noise and fallback cover for that particular raid.

How to compare two possible routes

When the map offers more than one viable exit, score each route against the same questions. A route with a shorter walk can be better than a theoretically quieter route if the quiet route forces an exposed crossing at the end.

Playbooks for common situations

You suspect a camper but have not called yet

Do not walk directly into the interaction area. Stop at the edge of the final approach, identify likely sightlines, and use smoke or a Heavy Fuze Grenade to probe the most plausible cover. Keep your movement option open while you wait for a reaction. If the area remains uncertain and a hatch is practical for the squad, compare that route rather than treating the original point as mandatory.

You have already called the elevator

Use the countdown to hold a defensible position rather than staring at the arrival point. Watch the approach that gives an enemy the easiest shot, listen for movement and preserve stamina. If ARC arrives, avoid letting the fight pull you into open ground; clear the immediate machine threat while retaining a path away from the point.

Your squad is carrying an unusually valuable backpack

Value changes the risk calculation. Extra looting may produce a small gain but forces another trip through the map and a later extraction. Pick the closest viable point, clear its nearby ARC, and leave once the current haul justifies the risk instead of waiting for a perfect, empty window.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

You are deciding between a key hatch and a normal point

First verify that the key is available and that the hatch can take the entire squad. Then compare the detour with the normal point’s sightlines and expected noise. A hatch that requires a long exposed route can erase the benefit of reduced attention; a nearby hatch with valid squad access can be a sensible trade.

Why you keep dying at extraction—and the correction

  • You arrive without scouting. The correction is to stop short, inspect sightlines and identify cover before interacting.
  • You assume the call is private. Treat the call as an audible announcement and hold a position that can change during the countdown.
  • You leave ARC alive beside the point. Clear nearby machines first so they cannot join a player fight.
  • You enter the same obvious cover every time. Probe likely hiding places with smoke or a Heavy Fuze Grenade and approach from a less predictable angle when possible.
  • You spend all stamina reaching the point. Shorten the route by choosing an extraction near the end of the loot path and reserve stamina for the final move.
  • You overstay for marginal loot. Extract when the backpack is valuable; every extra stop raises the chance of a contested arrival.
  • You treat a Raider Hatch as automatic safety. Check the key, squad limits, travel distance and surrounding ARC before choosing it.

What is—and is not—known about aggro distances

The available guidance supports a conditional model, not a published radius. Distance, line of sight, movement, combat state and sound-producing actions all affect whether ARC or a player notices you. There is no publisher-owned statistic for extraction-camping frequency, aggro distance or sound distance in the material available for this topic.

If you measure your own route, record the game version, map, extraction type, starting position, whether line of sight was blocked, the action that produced sound and the result. A player test can be useful for that specific patch and setup, but it should not be presented as a permanent meter value. Updates can change machine behavior, audio cues, point layouts or timing.

Bottom line for safer extractions

Plan extraction as a deliberate exposure phase, not as a final button press. Main points are contested because they attract ARC and Raiders; the call creates noise and a predictable countdown. Finish the loot route near the point, scout the last approach, clear nearby ARC, keep cover and an escape angle, and probe suspicious positions with smoke or a Heavy Fuze Grenade. Use a Raider Hatch when its key, squad capacity and travel distance make the trade worthwhile. No fixed aggro number can replace those checks.
