Anthropic announced two new beta features on October 8, 2026: Claude Dashboards, which turns questions about connected company data into dashboards, and Claude Motion, which creates editable animated explainers. At the same time, Claude Docs, Slides, and Design left beta and became available on every Claude plan, including Free. Access to the beta features differs by plan, and the announcement also sets a December 14, 2026, closure date for the standalone Claude Design site.

What Anthropic announced

The announcement combines a beta launch with a wider release. Dashboards and Motion are new beta capabilities; Docs, Slides, and Design are no longer in beta. Anthropic says it has seen more than 45 million docs, decks, and designs created, but it does not specify the period covered by that figure.

Feature What it does Availability at announcement How work can continue
Claude Dashboards Answers questions about connected company data and creates dashboards that update as data changes. Beta on paid Claude plans. Dashboards can be sent to supported analytics and business intelligence tools.
Claude Motion Creates editable, code-based animations from prompts. Beta on Team and Enterprise. Download an MP4 or continue editing with supported video and design tools.
Claude Docs, Slides, and Design Creates and edits documents, decks, and designs. Out of beta on all Claude plans, including Free. Export and sharing options depend on the artifact type and organization settings.

These are capability and access distinctions from Anthropic’s announcement, not independent comparisons of quality.

What Claude Dashboards does—and what it does not replace

Dashboards is aimed at quick, exploratory questions about company data. Anthropic says it can connect to platforms including Amazon Redshift, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks, and Snowflake, as well as other connectors such as Salesforce. A user might ask, “Build a dashboard of this quarter’s revenue by region,” or compare this week’s signups with last month’s.

For displayed figures, users can inspect the query behind a number and see when the chart’s data was last refreshed. That makes it possible to check what a result is based on and how current the chart is. It does not, by itself, establish that an answer is correct: users should still review the query, data source, and refresh timing before relying on a figure.

Anthropic positions Dashboards alongside established analytics and BI workflows rather than as a replacement for them. The announcement names Amplitude, Grafana, Hex, Mixpanel, Omni, Perplexity, PostHog, and Sigma as destinations for further analysis. Looker, monday.com, and Tableau were listed as coming soon at announcement time; that status may change.

How Claude Motion creates animated explainers

Motion turns a prompt into an animation that plays like a short video. Anthropic says it writes code to animate text, charts, shapes, and images, with those elements and their timing editable. Users can make adjustments in an editor, ask Claude for changes, and download the result as an MP4.

Motion is not described as a video-generation model: Anthropic says it produces no generated footage or AI-generated people. Its intended output is a constructed, editable animation—for example, an animated comparison of pricing plans for a sales meeting, a moving chart for a board deck, or an explainer for customer onboarding. These are vendor examples, not evidence of a particular result or performance level.

Anthropic names Adobe, Descript, HeyGen, InVideo, Luma AI, and Runway as next-step editing destinations. Canva and Captions were listed as coming soon in the announcement. The availability of individual handoffs can change.

Which Claude plans include each feature?

At the October 8, 2026, announcement, the new beta features had narrower eligibility than the tools leaving beta:

  • Dashboards: beta on paid Claude plans.
  • Motion: beta on Team and Enterprise.
  • Docs, Slides, and Design: available on every plan, including Free, after leaving beta.

For Enterprise, Dashboards and Motion were off by default. An administrator could enable them in Organization settings > Artifacts. Anthropic said Docs, Slides, and Design would be turned on by default for Enterprise organizations on October 15, 2026, with the option for admins to enable them earlier.

Anthropic says Artifacts support customer-managed encryption keys (CMEK), and administrators can choose which artifact templates their organization uses. Teams and Claude can work on the same doc, deck, design, or dashboard. Whether someone can share an artifact beyond the organization, including through a public link, depends on administrator settings.

Exports, mobile editing, and sharing

Anthropic says PowerPoint and PDF downloads are intended to preserve editor formatting, and decks can be sent to Google Slides as editable files. The announcement also describes mobile editing in the Claude app for docs, decks, and designs. These options are not stated to apply to every artifact type, so check the export or editing controls for the specific item rather than assuming a dashboard or Motion animation has the same options.

What to do if you use the standalone Claude Design site

Claude Design had already been available inside Claude conversations since September 16, 2026, where it can use conversation context, files, and connectors. Anthropic says the standalone claude.ai/design experience will remain available until December 14, 2026, as it is folded into Claude.

Existing standalone projects need no immediate action and are expected to keep working until closure. However, chats and comments from the standalone site will not be available after it closes, and public links to standalone projects will stop working. Teams can use Migrate team design systems from the Artifacts page; Anthropic says the original systems remain unchanged in the standalone version until closure.

  1. Save standalone chats and comments you may need. Anthropic says they will not be available after the standalone site closes.
  2. Plan for public links to stop working. Arrange another way to share work that must remain accessible.
  3. If your team uses a design system, use Migrate team design systems on the Artifacts page. The originals remain in the standalone version until closure.
  4. For migration details, follow Anthropic’s migration guide.
