Neither Anker nor UGREEN is a universal winner. Choose the exact charger whose single-port wattage, multi-port power allocation, USB charging protocols, cable requirements, plug format and local support match your devices. A 100W three-port charger and a 30W one-port phone charger solve different problems, even when they carry the same brand name.

The examples available for comparison are not a like-for-like performance test: Anker’s Prime A2688 is a 100W model, while the surfaced UGREEN Nexode example is 65W. The specifications below come from the manufacturers, not independent laboratory testing, so they establish what each listing claims rather than proving that one brand charges faster, runs cooler or lasts longer.

The short answer

Buy by model, not by logo. For a laptop plus phone or several devices, compare a charger’s per-port output and its behavior when ports are occupied simultaneously. For a phone or small tablet, a compact 30W-class unit may be more practical than either high-wattage example. If you need four ports and a 100W ceiling, UGREEN’s UK-listed Nexode model is a different design from its 65W three-port model and must be evaluated separately.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Choose Anker Prime A2688 when you specifically need its documented 100W single-port USB-C capacity, three-port layout and compact wall-charger dimensions, and you are prepared to supply a suitably rated cable.
  • Choose the UGREEN Nexode 65W three-port model when your devices fit within a 65W maximum and you want two USB-C ports plus USB-A. Confirm the exact multi-port allocation before buying because the surfaced listing does not show a complete sharing table.
  • Choose a smaller class altogether when the requirement is only phone or tablet charging. Anker’s Nano example is a one-port 30W charger, not a laptop-class alternative.

Check local price, warranty, returns and plug type in your country. The available examples are from US, EU and UK listings, so they cannot establish which brand is cheaper worldwide.

What is—and is not—being compared

“Anker charger” and “UGREEN charger” describe large product families. Each includes different wattage tiers, port combinations, regional versions and physical designs. Comparing a brand’s reputation with another brand’s logo can hide the decisions that determine whether your laptop actually charges.

Exact models in the available evidence

Model and listing region Maximum output Ports Protocols or features stated by manufacturer Dimensions and weight Important qualification
Anker Prime A2688 (US) 100W total; top USB-C up to 100W alone; up to 89W with all three ports in use 2 × USB-C, 1 × USB-A Manufacturer recommends an E-Marker cable for optimal 100W charging 43.5 × 29 × 67.8 mm; 170 g Cables are not included. Figures are manufacturer specifications, not independent tests.
UGREEN Nexode SKU 10335 (EU) 65W maximum 2 × USB-C, 1 × USB-A USB Power Delivery 3.0 and PPS Approximately 66 × 40 × 31 mm The surfaced listing does not provide a complete simultaneous-output allocation table. Verify the exact listing or manual.
Anker Nano (model identified on the product page) 30W maximum 1 × USB-C Not stated in the supplied product details 1.12 × 1.12 × 1.39 in Phone/tablet class; not presented as a laptop-class replacement.
UGREEN Nexode SKU 40749 (UK) 100W maximum 3 × USB-C, 1 × USB-A Not fully stated in the supplied product details 70 × 50 × 50 mm UK-specific listing. Confirm the plug, regional availability and exact model before use elsewhere.

The table shows why a brand-wide verdict would be misleading. Even within one family, a 30W one-port charger, a 65W three-port charger and a 100W four-port charger target different users.

How to read charger wattage

Single-port output comes first

Start with the device’s charger requirement, then compare it with the output of the particular port you will use. A charger advertised as “100W” may deliver that figure only from one USB-C port when the others are idle. If a laptop requires a high-power USB-C input, plugging another device into the charger can change the available power.

Total wattage is not a promise to every port

Total capacity describes the charger’s ceiling across its ports, not an equal share. The Anker A2688 listing explicitly states up to 100W from its top USB-C port alone and up to 89W when all three ports are occupied. The UGREEN 65W listing states a 65W maximum but does not expose a complete allocation table in the available details; consult the exact product page or manual before planning a laptop-plus-phone setup.

Leave headroom for real use

A device may accept less than the charger’s maximum because of its own charging design, temperature, battery level or software limits. Buying a higher ceiling does not force extra power into a device; the device and charger negotiate an allowed profile. It does, however, give you room for a second device or for a laptop that needs more power than a phone.

Match the charger to your devices

Phone-only charging

For a phone, a compact one-port charger can reduce bulk and unused ports. The Anker Nano example is rated up to 30W and measures 1.12 × 1.12 × 1.39 inches. Treat it as a phone/tablet-class option, not as evidence that every small charger can power a laptop.

Phone and tablet together

Two USB-C ports are useful when both devices charge over USB-C. Check whether the tablet’s required profile is supported and whether plugging in the phone reduces the tablet’s available output. A USB-A port can be valuable for an older cable, but it does not make the charger faster if the connected device cannot use the required protocol.

USB-C laptop plus accessories

Compare the laptop’s stated USB-C input requirement with the charger’s output from the intended port while other ports are occupied. The A2688 is the surfaced Anker example with a documented 100W single-port ceiling. The UGREEN 65W model may suit laptops designed for 65W or less, but its missing allocation table makes verification essential before relying on it as a multi-device laptop charger.

Several laptops or a laptop plus many accessories

Look for a model whose port count and sharing behavior fit the actual combination. UGREEN’s UK-listed SKU 40749 has three USB-C ports and one USB-A port with a 100W maximum, while the Anker A2688 has two USB-C and one USB-A. Those port layouts are not interchangeable: a fourth port may matter more than a small difference in physical size, while two USB-C ports may be enough for a laptop and phone.

Protocols and cables determine practical compatibility

USB Power Delivery and PPS

USB Power Delivery (USB PD) is the negotiation system commonly used by USB-C chargers and devices. PPS, or Programmable Power Supply, allows finer-grained voltage adjustment for devices that support it. The UGREEN EU listing for SKU 10335 explicitly names USB PD 3.0 and PPS. Do not assume that every Nexode model, regional SKU or port has the same profiles.

The cable is part of the charging system

A high-output charger cannot deliver its advertised result through an unsuitable cable. Anker says an E-Marker cable is recommended for optimal 100W operation with the Prime A2688, and the charger listing says cables are sold separately. An E-Marker is an electronic identification chip in the cable that communicates its capability to the USB-C system. Check the cable’s stated wattage rating and connector type rather than judging by appearance.

USB-A needs its own cable

If you use the USB-A port for an older accessory, you need the appropriate USB-A cable and must follow the port’s specified output. The presence of USB-A does not guarantee USB-C-level PD or PPS behavior.

Port layout and physical design

Compare the actual mix

Need More suitable layout Why
One USB-C phone One USB-C port Smallest design can be sufficient; extra ports add no charging benefit for a single device.
USB-C laptop and USB-C phone At least two USB-C ports Both devices can use modern USB-C cables without occupying USB-A.
USB-C devices plus an older accessory Two USB-C plus one USB-A Supports a mixed cable collection, subject to the charger’s allocation rules.
Several USB-C devices and one USB-A accessory Three USB-C plus one USB-A Provides a fourth connection, but total and per-port limits still apply.

Size is not the same as capability

The Anker A2688 is listed at 43.5 × 29 × 67.8 mm and 170 g. UGREEN’s 65W SKU 10335 is approximately 66 × 40 × 31 mm. These dimensions use different shapes, so compare the measurement that matters in your outlet and travel case. A charger that is shorter but wider may block an adjacent socket; a taller design may fit better behind furniture.

Plug and region matter

Wall chargers are sold with region-specific plug formats and electrical approvals. The UGREEN SKU 40749 example is from a UK listing; do not assume its plug or availability applies in the US, EU or another market. Confirm the regional product page, input specification and return policy before ordering. A travel adapter can change physical fit but does not turn every charger into a locally certified product.

How to choose between Anker and UGREEN without guessing

  1. List every device. Write down the laptop, phone, tablet, headphones, watch or other accessories you expect to charge at the same time.
  2. Record each device’s requirement. Use the device maker’s charger label or manual. Note the required wattage, USB-C or USB-A connector and any stated PD or PPS support.
  3. Set the single-port target. Identify the highest-demand device and make sure the intended charger port can meet it when used alone.
  4. Check simultaneous allocation. Find the manufacturer’s table for the exact model. Do not infer the split from the headline wattage. For A2688, the listed all-port ceiling is 89W; for UGREEN SKU 10335, obtain the missing table before making a multi-device plan.
  5. Audit cables. Confirm that every cable is rated for the power you intend to draw. For A2688’s optimal 100W operation, Anker recommends an E-Marker cable, and the charger does not include cables.
  6. Check the ports. Count USB-C and USB-A connections separately. Decide whether an older USB-A accessory is a permanent requirement or can be replaced with a USB-C cable.
  7. Check the physical fit. Compare dimensions, weight, plug orientation and whether the charger blocks neighboring outlets.
  8. Verify your market. Select the correct regional listing and confirm plug type, warranty coverage, returns and current price. Do not compare a US price with an EU or UK listing as if they were the same offer.
  9. Save the documentation. Keep the model number and its port-allocation table. Different revisions can share a family name while changing ports or profiles.

Recommendations by buying situation

You need 100W for one USB-C laptop

The Anker Prime A2688 is the clearest fit among the documented examples because its top USB-C port is specified for up to 100W when used alone. Buy it only with a cable suited to that output; the listing says cables are separate and recommends E-Marker for optimal 100W charging. If you will connect other devices at the same time, plan around the stated 89W all-port maximum rather than the 100W headline.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

You need a 65W ceiling and mixed ports

The UGREEN Nexode SKU 10335 is the relevant example when 65W is enough and two USB-C plus one USB-A ports match your cables. Its EU listing names USB PD 3.0 and PPS. Before using it for a laptop and phone simultaneously, obtain the exact output-sharing table because the surfaced specification does not provide one.

You want the smallest phone charger

The Anker Nano 30W example is designed for a single USB-C connection and has a compact 1.12 × 1.12 × 1.39-inch body. It is a sensible class for a phone or small tablet when you do not need multiple ports. Its existence does not make it a substitute for a higher-output multi-port charger.

You need four ports

UGREEN’s UK-listed Nexode SKU 40749 provides three USB-C and one USB-A port with a 100W maximum. Confirm the UK plug, local version, per-port limits and warranty before buying outside the UK. Its four-port layout may be more useful than a three-port model for a desk with several USB-C devices, but the 100W total still has to be shared.

You are choosing on price alone

Do not declare a winner from the available listings. They cover different regions, wattage classes and port counts, and current prices, warranties and return terms were not matched on a single market basis. Compare equivalent models in your country at the same wattage and port class.

Setup and troubleshooting

The laptop says “slow charger”

  • Move the laptop to the charger’s highest-rated USB-C port.
  • Disconnect other devices and test the laptop alone; multi-port use may reduce available output.
  • Check the cable’s wattage rating and, for a 100W A2688 setup, use the recommended E-Marker cable.
  • Confirm that the laptop’s requirement is within the charger’s negotiated profile. A 65W charger cannot be treated as a 100W source.

The phone charges but the tablet does not

  • Try another USB-C port and check whether the port supports the required PD or PPS profile.
  • Test with a known suitable cable; a cable can be the limiting component.
  • Remove the second device to see whether power sharing is the cause.
  • Read the exact model manual rather than assuming all ports in a product family behave identically.

One port appears inactive

  • Verify that the port is intended for charging and that the cable is fully seated.
  • Check whether the charger has a minimum-load or sharing rule described in its documentation.
  • Test the device and cable on a different port to isolate a cable, device or charger issue.
  • If the behavior persists, stop using the unit if it becomes unusually hot, smells abnormal or shows physical damage, and use the seller’s warranty or return process.

Safety and evidence limits

The reviewed product pages include protocol information and manufacturer protection claims, but they do not provide independent comparative safety certification or laboratory testing between the brands. It is therefore not justified to call Anker safer, cooler or more reliable than UGREEN—or the reverse—on this evidence.

  • Use an undamaged charger, plug and cable with the correct regional electrical connection.
  • Keep ventilation openings clear and avoid covering a charger during high-load use.
  • Do not force a connector or use a cable with frayed insulation.
  • Unplug and replace a charger that shows heat damage, arcing, cracking or a persistent burning odor.
  • Check current manufacturer documentation for the exact model, especially after a regional purchase or product revision.

Bottom line

Pick the charger that matches your highest-demand device after accounting for simultaneous use, cable capability, port type and regional support. Anker’s Prime A2688 is the documented 100W single-port option in this comparison; UGREEN’s Nexode 65W model is a lower-output, mixed-port choice with PD 3.0 and PPS; and both brands also offer models that fall outside those examples. The right purchase is the exact model whose specifications fit your charging routine—not a blanket victory for either brand.
