Before starting in Aniimo, coordinate a server with friends, take your time with appearance, and double-check your character type before confirming: a post-launch guide reports that type cannot be changed later. Most appearance edits are reportedly available after an early-game unlock. Your first stretch of play and early catches come before the Helion-or-Lunara choice; pick Helion for close-range pressure or Lunara for ranged combat with recovery.
Before creating your Pathfinder, coordinate with friends
If you plan to play together, agree on a server before anyone creates a character. A NerdsChalk guide updated August 21, 2026 reports America, Europe, and APAC servers and says friends need characters on the same server. It also says choosing another server means starting a fresh character there, while the original remains on its first server. That guide predates the global launch, so treat the exact server policy as guide-reported and check current official information if playing together depends on it.
The same guide places character creation after server selection. Its account of the name prompt is not enough to establish the exact screen sequence across current versions, so follow the live prompts rather than relying on a fixed step-by-step order.
Which character-creation choices can you change later?
The main choice to treat as fixed is character type. GameWith’s appearance guide, published September 16 and updated September 20, 2026, reports that character type cannot be changed after creation. Check that selection carefully before confirming.

Appearance options
GameWith describes creator areas for face, makeup, hair, and body type, and reports that face and hairstyle edits become available through the Appearance menu after you receive the Institute uniform during Institute Initiation. Clothing and accessories may also be adjustable as the relevant options unlock. Menus and availability can change between builds, so inspect the current game before spending any customization resource.
Vouchers and Face Codes
An Aniimo Wiki page updated September 19, 2026 reports that a customization voucher can reopen the editor, Face Codes can import a look, and a rename voucher is needed to rename the Pathfinder. The page does not establish voucher sources, costs, limits, or Face Code support across platforms as settled facts. It also reports that captured Aniimo cannot be renamed in its current build. Check the live menus and current official guidance before using or seeking a voucher.

When do you name your character in Aniimo?
Secondary guides place Pathfinder naming near the creation flow, but the exact prompt timing is not settled across versions. Enter a name when the current game asks; do not assume a particular screen order or name-availability rule from an older guide. Pathfinder naming is separate from naming a captured Aniimo, and the latter is reported unsupported in the current build by the Aniimo Wiki page linked above.

What happens before the Helion-or-Lunara choice?
A beginner guide from Aniimo.cc describes an opening stretch with catches before players choose Helion or Lunara. It then places Command and Twine instruction and Institute initiation among the early steps. This is a guide-described flow; follow the current game if its sequence differs.
Should you pick Helion or Lunara?
Choose by preferred combat distance and rhythm, not by a claim that one is universally stronger. The Aniimo.cc guide describes both as Holy, but gives them different roles:

These are broad playstyle descriptions, not a guarantee that a particular starter makes the opening easier. Exact skills and balance may change with patches. As you catch more Aniimo, consider adding a different element, a healing or BREAK role, or a useful field skill rather than simply duplicating the starter’s job.

Does your Aniimo account carry progress across platforms?
In its September 16, 2026 launch notice, Aniimo says the game went live on Windows PC, Steam, Epic Games Store, PS5, and Xbox. The notice gives September 23, 2026 as the mobile launch date and says PC and mobile share data when used with the same account. That statement establishes PC-to-mobile data sharing; it does not establish broader console cross-progression in the notice.
