A Spotify playlist-order problem has been reported in Android Auto, but the available evidence does not confirm that a recent Android Auto update fixed it. A Spotify Community discussion describes car displays showing a different playlist order from the one selected on the phone; it does not identify a fix, software version, or rollout date.
What Android Auto playlist problem are users reporting?
In a Spotify Community discussion opened on April 20, 2026, users said playlists appeared in Android Auto in an order that differed from the sort selected in Spotify on their phones. Some described tracks appearing oldest first even when the phone was set to “Recently Added (newest first).” Others said changing the phone’s sort option did not change the car display. Read the Spotify Community discussion.
The reports mention Pixel and Samsung phones and vehicles including a 2025 Mazda CX-50, a 2024 Subaru Forester, a 2024 Toyota RAV4, and a 2025 Honda Accord. These are individual accounts, not a measured survey, so they show that people have encountered the behavior but do not establish how common it is or what causes it.

Did an Android Auto update fix playlist sorting?
That is not confirmed by the available source. The discussion does not name an Android Auto or Spotify update, provide a version number or release date, or report an official resolution. A moderator asked whether sorting by Artist on the phone would carry over, but the discussion does not establish that this worked.

Accordingly, there is no supported basis here to say the issue is fixed, identify which versions were affected, or claim that a fix has reached all users. The title’s update-and-fix claim remains unverified.
How to check whether your playlist order is affected
- Check the playlist sort on your phone. Note the selected order, such as “Recently Added (newest first)” or “Custom Order.”
- Open that playlist in Spotify through Android Auto. Compare the order shown on the car display with the phone’s selected sort.
- Record what you see and the versions in use. If you seek help, include your phone model, vehicle, Android Auto and Spotify versions, the playlist sort selected on the phone, and the order shown in the car. This makes it easier to distinguish a sorting mismatch from a broader connection or playback problem.
The community discussion does not establish a workaround that reliably changes the Android Auto display order. Changing the phone’s sort is worth checking, but users in the thread said that doing so did not always carry over.
