“Miyoo” is not a universal process covering every model. The concrete example here is the Miyoo Mini Plus running Onion. The Anbernic example is the RG35XX 2024; other Anbernic models can use different images, card layouts, and instructions.

- Back up anything you need from the card. Formatting or replacing the card can remove existing files.
- Format the card as FAT32. This is the format recommended by the Onion guide for the fresh-install workflow. Do not infer a universal maximum capacity or compatibility rule from that recommendation alone.
- Obtain the current Onion installation package from the guide. Copy the installation files to the SD card exactly as the guide specifies; do not rename folders or place them inside an extra parent directory.
- Eject the card safely and insert it into the powered-off Miyoo Mini Plus.
- Boot the handheld with the card inserted. Onion’s installer runs from the card. Follow the options shown by the current guide and allow the installation to finish before removing power or the card.
This is the one substantial preparation stage in the Miyoo workflow. Once Onion is installed and the card’s folder structure exists, adding another game generally does not mean reinstalling the frontend.
Copy ROMs to the correct folders

If a system’s folder name is not obvious, use the folder structure created by the installed Onion version rather than inventing a new name. The folder is the connection between the file and the emulator that should display it.

- Back up the card first. Formatting and image writing can erase its contents.

- Confirm that the ROM is inside the appropriate system folder under
Roms, not merely somewhere on the card. - Boot the handheld and run the Games-menu option to refresh all ROMs.
- Check the file extension and the emulator/system folder you selected.
- If the game launches but reports a missing BIOS, consult the emulator’s requirement and place only the required BIOS file in
BIOS.
Miyoo: Onion does not install
- Verify that the card uses FAT32 and that the installation files are at the location specified by the current Onion guide.
- Make sure the card was safely ejected and inserted before booting.
