Amazon Luna has two access levels: Luna Standard, included with an eligible Amazon Prime membership, and Luna Premium, a paid subscription listed at $9.99 per month in the United States. Standard provides a changing, curated selection of cloud games, including GameNight; Premium adds a larger library. The right choice depends on the games you want now, your Prime status, and whether your devices are compatible.
Amazon Luna plans at a glance
Luna is Amazon’s cloud-gaming service. Games run on remote servers and stream to a compatible computer, mobile device, smart TV or streaming media player, so you do not need to buy a dedicated Luna console. Amazon describes Standard as a Prime benefit and Premium as a separate paid subscription.

Amazon’s “What is Amazon Luna?” overview, updated September 21, 2026, gives the $9.99 U.S. figure and warns that prices can differ by territory. Amazon’s Luna Terms of Use, last updated June 10, 2026, also say that Amazon may offer one or more Premium billing plans. Check the offer displayed on your local Amazon account before subscribing.
What Luna Standard includes
Prime membership is the access requirement
Standard is not a separately priced Luna plan in Amazon’s overview. It is a benefit for eligible Prime members. You need an active, eligible Prime membership and must accept Luna’s Terms to use the Standard access that Amazon offers with that membership. If Prime ends or your account is not eligible in your territory, Standard access may no longer be available.

A rotating catalog rather than a permanent library
Standard provides a curated selection of games, and the selection changes over time. Amazon’s overview has used Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Hogwarts Legacy as examples associated with Standard. Those examples should not be read as a permanent promise: Amazon says game selections and availability can change by time and location.
Before deciding that Prime makes Luna worthwhile, open the current Luna game list while signed in to your account. Look for the titles you actually intend to play, rather than judging the plan by a single launch-day list or an example in an article. A rotating catalog can be excellent value for someone who enjoys trying different games, but less useful if you need one particular title to remain available for months.
What Luna Premium adds
A larger library for a monthly fee
Premium includes everything in Standard and expands the available game library. Amazon’s U.S. overview lists Premium at $9.99 per month. The amount is a recurring subscription price, not a one-time purchase, and Amazon cautions that territorial pricing can differ. Your account’s checkout or subscription page is the authoritative price for your market.

Examples of Premium games
Amazon has named Sonic Superstars, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Batman: Arkham Knight as Premium examples. These examples illustrate the type of additional content Premium can provide; they do not establish that each title will remain included indefinitely. Catalog content and territorial availability can change.

The practical upgrade test is simple: compare the current Standard and Premium lists, identify the specific games you would play during the next few months, and decide whether access to those additional games justifies $9.99 per month in the U.S. If the expanded list does not contain anything you want, Premium does not provide a reason to pay merely for the label.
GameNight: what it is and which plan gets it
GameNight is a local multiplayer collection within Luna, designed for friends and family playing together in the living room. It is not described as a third subscription tier. Amazon’s service overview includes examples such as Angry Birds Flock Party, Draw & Guess, Ticket to Ride, Exploding Kittens 2, Clue and Courtroom Chaos: Starring Snoop Dogg.
Amazon presents GameNight as part of the Luna experience rather than as a separately priced add-on. Check the current listing for the games and supported devices available to your account, because Amazon can change selections and availability. If your main use is couch multiplayer, the presence and quality of the current GameNight lineup matter more than the headline size of the broader catalog.
How much does Amazon Luna cost?
Standard: no separate Luna line item for eligible Prime members
For an eligible Prime member, Standard is included as a Prime benefit rather than billed as its own Luna subscription. That does not make Luna universally free: Prime itself is a paid membership, eligibility varies by territory, and access depends on maintaining the required membership and accepting Luna’s terms.

Premium: U.S. price and automatic renewal
Amazon’s overview lists Premium at $9.99 per month in the U.S. Amazon’s Terms say Premium renews automatically unless you cancel before the next charge. The Terms also allow Amazon to change Premium plan prices; unless Amazon states otherwise, a change generally applies from the next subscription period. Review the renewal date, price and cancellation terms shown on your account before confirming.
Territory and account differences
Do not convert the U.S. amount into a global promise. Amazon explicitly says prices may vary by territory, and the Terms allow different Premium billing plans. Your local Amazon offer may also show different tax treatment, currency or availability. The account-specific offer is the one to use when calculating your cost.
Compatible devices and what you need
Amazon’s Terms identify compatible personal computers, streaming media players, smart TVs and mobile devices. An AWS for Games article published September 2, 2026, describes Luna access through a Fire TV Stick, a compatible smart TV or a web browser. A Fire TV Stick is an optional way to run Luna on a television, not a requirement for the service.

- Personal computers: use a supported browser or other Amazon-supported access method on a compatible computer.
- Smart TVs: verify that your specific television model and region are supported before subscribing.
- Streaming media players: a compatible device such as a Fire TV Stick can provide TV access when the television itself is not supported.
- Mobile devices: check the current compatibility information for your phone or tablet model and territory.
Compatibility requirements can change. Amazon recommends checking the device information for your location before you pay for Premium. Because Luna is cloud gaming, you also need a reliable internet connection capable of streaming interactive video; the exact requirements depend on the supported device, network and current service guidance.

How to start using Luna
- Confirm your Amazon account and region. Sign in to the Amazon account you intend to use and check which Luna plans and games are offered in your territory.
- Check Prime eligibility. If you plan to use Standard, verify that the account has an active, eligible Prime membership and that Luna access is included for your location.
- Review the current catalog. Separate the games currently available through Standard from those shown as part of Premium. Treat every catalog as changeable.
- Verify the device. Check whether your computer, browser, mobile device, smart TV or streaming media player is compatible. If you want to play on a television, decide whether you will use the TV’s native support or an optional streaming device.
- Open Luna on the supported device. Use Amazon’s current Luna app or web access method for that device, then sign in with the same Amazon account.
- Accept the Luna Terms. Standard access requires acceptance of the applicable terms, and the same terms govern Premium.
- Choose Premium only after comparing the lists. If you upgrade, record the renewal date and price displayed at checkout so you know when the next charge is scheduled.
- Test the experience before relying on it. Start a game on your intended device and network, then check controller pairing, display behavior and local multiplayer controls before planning a group session.
Which plan should you choose?

Catalog changes and other limitations to understand
Availability is not a permanent ownership right
A Luna subscription provides access to included cloud games while they are offered under the applicable plan. It is not the same as buying a perpetual license or owning a physical copy. Amazon can change subscription content and availability, and the change may differ by territory.
Examples are snapshots, not guarantees
Names such as Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Hogwarts Legacy, Sonic Superstars, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Batman: Arkham Knight show how Amazon has described the tiers. They should be checked against the current Luna listing before you subscribe or tell someone that a game is included.
Prime and Premium solve different problems
Prime determines whether you can receive the Standard benefit. Premium determines whether you pay for access to a broader Luna library. Buying Premium does not remove the need to use a compatible device, and having Prime does not guarantee that every Luna game is included.

A Standard game is not visible
Confirm that you are signed in to the Prime account that has eligibility, that the membership is active, and that the title is currently listed for your territory. Catalog rotation or regional availability may explain why a previously seen game is absent.

Premium shows a different price
Use the amount shown in your local Amazon account. The $9.99 figure is the U.S. amount listed in Amazon’s September 21, 2026 overview, and Amazon says prices may vary by territory. Also check whether taxes or a different billing period are displayed.
Luna will not run on your television
Check the exact TV model and region against Amazon’s current compatibility information. If the television is unsupported, an optional compatible streaming media player may be another access route. A Fire TV Stick is one example described by AWS for Games, but it is not the only possible device.
You were charged after intending to stop Premium
Premium auto-renews unless cancelled before the charge. Review the subscription’s renewal date and cancellation status in your Amazon account, and cancel before the next billing event if you no longer want the recurring service.
Bottom line
Luna Standard is the low-risk starting point for eligible Prime members: it provides a changing selection of cloud games and GameNight without a separate Luna line item. Luna Premium is the paid upgrade, listed at $9.99 per month in the U.S., for people who want the larger current library and accept automatic renewal and catalog changes. Compare the live game lists, confirm your territory and device, and subscribe based on the titles you can play now—not on a promise that any example will remain included.
