Amazon says it plans to begin rolling out Amazon Leo satellite internet to customers in 2026, but that is a company target—not confirmation that the service is generally available. Amazon’s latest mission update covered here, dated July 2, 2026, reported 396 satellites deployed across 14 missions; the satellites from that mission still needed to reach operational altitude and be commissioned. Amazon has not established a confirmed consumer launch date or a country-by-country availability list in the cited updates.

When will Amazon Leo be available?

Amazon’s stated plan is to roll out Leo more widely in 2026 as it launches additional satellites and adds network coverage and capacity. Its FAQ also says a preview for selected enterprise customers began in November 2025 using production hardware and software. That preview is not the same as general consumer availability. The official sources cited here do not confirm whether public service had opened by October 9, 2026, or give a firm date when households can order it. Amazon’s Leo FAQ

What Amazon’s satellite progress does—and doesn’t—show

As of the July 2, 2026 LA-08 mission, Amazon reported a cumulative 396 satellites deployed across 14 missions. The mission update’s headline used “375+,” while its body gave the more specific total of 396. Amazon said the newest satellites had completed initial checks but still needed orbit raising and commissioning before they could provide service. A satellite launch therefore does not mean that the spacecraft is already serving customers. Amazon’s mission update

The reported figure is also far below the planned constellation size: Amazon describes an initial design of more than 3,000 satellites. That is a target for the constellation, not the number currently deployed. Amazon says its full-scale deployment began in April 2025 and that it has secured more than 100 launches. The July 2 mission was the final Atlas V launch in its Atlas campaign; Amazon said its next United Launch Alliance Leo mission would use Vulcan. It has also expanded its Arianespace commitment from 18 to 24 launches by adding six Ariane 6 missions. Contracted launches support the deployment plan, but do not establish when service will be available at a particular address. Amazon’s Arianespace announcement

Where is Amazon Leo expected to launch first?

Amazon describes a phased geographic rollout. It says service will begin at northern and southern latitudes, then expand gradually toward the Equator as the network grows. Its stated intention is to serve most countries, including hard-to-reach locations, but that is not a verified list of launch markets or current availability. The cited official material does not identify which countries can sign up first. Amazon’s rollout update

For a specific location, wait for Amazon to publish an availability checker or country-level ordering details. A broad coverage goal cannot tell you whether a terminal can be ordered, activated, and supported at your address.

Can you sign up or buy a terminal now?

Amazon has announced a separate commercial route for maritime customers: reseller agreements with ELCOME and MTN. The companies are intended to serve vessel and offshore users, including commercial shipping, offshore operations, fishing, ferries, and yachting. Amazon identifies ELCOME’s announced regions as the Middle East, Asia, Europe, Africa, and North America, and describes MTN as serving key maritime industries. These business-to-business agreements do not establish a household offer or a public referral program. Amazon’s maritime reseller announcement

What remains unknown before choosing a satellite service

Amazon’s plan and terminal specifications do not yet answer the practical questions a prospective customer needs for a buying decision. The cited official sources do not establish:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Whether public consumer service has opened, or which countries and addresses are eligible.
  • Monthly service and equipment prices, data limits, or contract terms.
  • Independent real-world download, upload, latency, and reliability results.
  • How Leo compares with other available services on cost, coverage, performance, or installation.

Until Amazon publishes those details, compare only services you can actually order at your location, and distinguish advertised peak speeds from independently measured results.
