Short answer: For the lowest official U.S. starting price, a smaller tablet and an included year of Amazon Kids+, choose the Amazon Kids Tablet 8. For an 11-inch Galaxy tablet with 128 GB of storage and a case, stylus and other accessories in the box, consider the Samsung Galaxy Tab A11+ Kids Edition. Amazon’s new Kids Tablets are Android devices with parent-managed Google Play access, so they should not be confused with older Fire Kids models.
This comparison covers the current U.S. products as of October 9, 2026. Prices, stock, subscriptions and availability can change. The listed specifications and battery figures come from the manufacturers; they are not independent test results.
Which tablets are being compared?
Amazon’s new Kids Tablet family has two models: an 8.7-inch version for ages 3+ and an 11-inch version for ages 6+. Samsung’s current U.S. kids bundle is the 11-inch Galaxy Tab A11+ Kids Edition. The products differ in size, bundled services, hardware and parental-control setup—not simply in whether they offer child controls.
The new Amazon models run Android and offer parent-managed Google Play access, with parental approval required for each download, according to Amazon’s announcement. That is an important distinction from assumptions based on older Amazon Fire Kids tablets.

Battery estimates are not a head-to-head test
Amazon claims up to 14 hours of video playback for the 8.7-inch model. Samsung’s up-to-15-hour estimate for its Kids Edition is based on local 720p playback in the default player, full screen, at 162-nit brightness, with earbuds at volume 7 and Wi-Fi and mobile network off. Samsung says actual results vary. Because the manufacturers’ figures are not results from a shared test, they do not establish which tablet lasts longer in a family’s day-to-day use.

Amazon: manage the child’s tablet through Parent Dashboard
Amazon says Parent Dashboard is preinstalled and is also available as an iOS and Android app. Its listed controls include remote screen-time limits, content filters, activity monitoring, Learn First goals, web-browsing controls, and the ability to pause or resume a child’s device. Amazon says parents can create profiles for up to four children. On the new tablets, parents manage Google Play access and approve each download.
Samsung: use Samsung Kids and set a PIN
Samsung Kids comes preloaded. Samsung lists controls for screen time, apps, contacts and content, and says a PIN must be set manually for parental controls. Samsung’s support instructions describe child profiles, activity monitoring, schedules and bedtime, allowed content and app controls. Samsung notes that app and content availability can vary by country, model and operating-system version. See the product page and Samsung’s setup instructions.
These are different management workflows, not evidence that one tablet lacks parental controls. Consider whether you prefer Amazon’s Parent Dashboard and Google Play approval flow or Samsung Kids’ PIN-protected child mode and its controls.
What content or subscriptions come with each tablet?
Amazon includes one year of Kids+
Amazon says each new Kids Tablet includes one year of Kids+, with age-curated books, videos, apps, games and audiobooks. Its October 9, 2026 announcement lists ongoing U.S. pricing of $7.99 per month for Prime members and $8.99 per month for non-Prime customers. Check the current terms before subscribing. Amazon’s separate help page distinguishes a free Amazon Kids child profile from paid Kids+ content, but that page specifically describes Fire tablets; its details should not automatically be assumed to apply to the new Android models.
Samsung advertises a six-week ABCmouse offer
Samsung’s U.S. product page advertises six weeks of ABCmouse with the Kids Edition. Samsung says the service’s monthly and annual memberships renew unless canceled, but the page does not establish the post-trial price. Check the offer and renewal terms before activating it.

Choose Amazon Kids Tablet 8 for a smaller, lower-priced bundle
The 8.7-inch model is the lowest-priced option among these three at Amazon’s stated U.S. starting price of $229.99. Its smaller screen, age-3+ positioning, 64 GB storage, included case and year of Kids+ make it the clearest fit when those are the priorities.
Compare Amazon Kids Tablet 11 and Samsung for an 11-inch screen
Amazon’s 11-inch model starts at $329.99 and lists a 2.5K display, 8 GB RAM, stylus support, case and one year of Kids+. Samsung lists 128 GB storage, microSD expansion up to 2 TB, and a bundle that includes a case, Crayo-Pen, tether and stickers. Samsung’s $349.99 list price is before trade-in. The available specifications do not prove which device performs faster; choose based on the features, software and bundle that matter to you.
Let the family’s software preferences break a tie
- Consider Amazon if you want its Kids+ content bundle or specifically value parent-managed Google Play access on these new models.
- Consider Samsung if your household already uses Galaxy devices or prefers Samsung Kids and the Galaxy tablet environment.
- Check your child’s practical needs for screen size, storage, expandable storage, a stylus and a headphone jack before deciding.
When do the tablets ship or become available?
Amazon announced U.S., Mexico, Canada and Japan shipping for October 14, 2026, with selected European markets scheduled from October 19. The announcement described the tablets as available for preorder. Samsung’s U.S. product page lists the Kids Edition through Samsung and Best Buy; Samsung said Amazon.com availability began April 23, 2026. Availability, stock and local product names vary, so check the relevant retailer in your country.
Quick Recap
What should you verify before buying?
- Compare the current transaction price, not only the manufacturer’s listed starting or pre-trade-in price.
- Review the subscription renewal price and cancellation terms for Kids+ or ABCmouse before the included year or promotional trial ends.
- Check that the apps and content your child needs are available in your country and on the model’s software version.
- Choose by size, storage and accessory needs; do not treat manufacturer battery estimates as an independent comparison.
