It also supports H.265, H.264, VP9, and AV1 video formats. These features only help when the streaming content, app, and television support the relevant resolution or format.

4K and HDR support for compatible TVs
The 2026 model supports 4K output up to 60 fps and HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG. That is a useful spread for a standard 4K streamer, but it does not guarantee that every title will be available in 4K or HDR: the service, specific program, subscription, and display must also support the format.

Current wireless and video-format specifications
Amazon lists Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, Bluetooth Low Energy, and AV1 support alongside H.265, H.264, and VP9. Those are specifications, not a promise that every home will see faster streaming or better picture quality. Wi-Fi performance also depends on the router, signal, internet connection, and surroundings.
Wi-Fi 6 is not Wi-Fi 6E: Amazon specifies Wi-Fi 6 for this stick and does not claim 6 GHz-band support.
A redesigned remote with TV controls
The included remote has dedicated power, volume, and mute controls for the television, plus a customizable shortcut button. Amazon describes its controls as tactile and shaped. These additions can reduce the need to juggle remotes, though the available evidence does not establish a controlled usability result for this design.

Potentially simpler power cabling
Amazon says the included cable allows the stick to draw power directly from a TV USB port. That may reduce cable clutter, but whether it works in a particular setup depends on the television and the package instructions; do not assume every TV USB port is suitable.
A broad app selection, with a platform caveat
Amazon lists Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, Prime Video, HBO Max, Peacock, Tubi, and Pluto among prominent apps. It also says more than 2,000 apps have been added since its first Vega OS device, including Spotify, Xbox, VLC, and various VPN apps. Those examples and the count are Amazon-provided platform information, not an independently audited availability total; apps can vary by country and change over time.

No announced Dolby Vision or Dolby Atmos on the standard 4K tier
Amazon lists Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos with the higher-tier Fire TV Stick 4K Max, not the announced standard 4K model. If your television supports Dolby Vision or your audio system uses Dolby Atmos, compare the 4K Max or another compatible streamer before choosing. Check the specifications for your exact TV and audio equipment: support varies, and some televisions do not support Dolby Vision. The official storage figure is 8 GB. The cited specifications do not establish how much is available for user-installed apps, how many apps will fit, or what storage effect a particular user will notice. Amazon describes the 4K Max as having more storage.

The stick ships with Vega OS, Alexa+, and the new Fire TV experience, according to Amazon. Those are included platform features, not evidence of a guaranteed future app, feature, privacy behavior, or length of software support. Consider whether the apps and functions you need are available for your region and setup.
Speed claims are from Amazon, not an independent test of this model
Amazon says this stick provides “nearly 20–40% faster” access to content than a similarly priced 4K streaming stick from another leading brand; it also claims apps launch over 35% faster and content starts nearly 20% faster. Amazon’s 2026 announcement does not name the rival model. These are manufacturer-reported comparisons, not independent benchmark results for this article, so they should not be treated as a guarantee of the difference you will see.

What does it cost, and are discounts worth considering?
Amazon announced a US list price of $59.99 and a limited-time $29.99 Prime Big Deal Days price for the 2026 model. A Tom’s Guide deal report dated October 6, 2026, separately reported a $29 deal; that is a dated deal report, not a standing price. Check the current Amazon listing in your country before buying, since prices and offers vary by market and date. A discount can improve the value, but compare the live price of the 4K Max too if Dolby formats or extra storage matter to you.
Who should buy the Fire TV Stick 4K (3rd Gen, 2026)?
- Consider it if you want a current Fire TV stick with 4K and HDR10/HDR10+/HLG support, and those formats match your TV and services.
