There is no universal winner between Amazon Basics and VIVO. The right arm is the exact model that safely supports your monitor, matches its VESA holes, fits your desk, and provides the movement your workspace requires. In the available documentation, VIVO publishes detailed specifications for several current models, while the Amazon Basics information is a 2017 manual for one dual-monitor arm. That makes a model-by-model fit check more reliable than a brand-wide verdict.
Before ordering, record your monitor’s weight (including its stand adapter or other accessories), screen type and size, VESA pattern, desk thickness, and whether you need one screen, two screens, portrait rotation, or a laptop tray. Then compare those measurements with the exact arm’s limits and installation method.
What the comparison can—and cannot—prove
Monitor-arm brands sell multiple designs with different load ratings, clamp ranges, joints, and mounting hardware. A specification from one product cannot be transferred to every arm carrying the same brand name. This is especially important here: the Amazon Basics document available for comparison is an Amazon-hosted manual titled for a dual-monitor display mounting arm. It is not documentation for a confirmed current single-monitor model.
The manual states a maximum load capacity of 10 kg and warns that the desk or mounting surface must support the combined weight of the mount and displays. It also tells owners to check joint screws periodically and directs them to Amazon for warranty information. Its 2017 imprint means it should be treated as older, model-specific evidence. It does not establish current Amazon Basics stock, price, warranty terms, a current single-arm lineup, or whether the 10 kg figure is intended per screen. Do not use that number as a per-monitor rating unless the manual for your exact product says so.

We only recommend installing it on a wooden desk, preferably with no crossbeam blocking the underside.
VIVO’s official pages provide model-level details for three useful reference points: a heavy-duty single-monitor arm, a monitor-and-laptop mount, and a standard single-monitor arm. Those figures are also subject to change by region, revision, inventory, and date, so verify the listing and manual for the precise SKU before purchase.

The table shows why “which brand is better?” is the wrong first question. For example, STAND-V101BB has different flat- and curved-screen limits, while STAND-V002O-L is designed around a laptop tray rather than a second monitor. STAND-V101 and STAND-V101BB have similar names but materially different size, load, and desk-thickness specifications.
How to choose by monitor and desk fit
1. Weigh the complete monitor setup
Use the monitor’s actual weight without its factory stand, then add any accessory that will hang from the arm or VESA plate. A monitor listed at the upper edge of an arm’s range leaves little margin for an adapter, webcam, light, or other attached hardware. Stay inside both the minimum and maximum values; an arm that is too lightly loaded may not hold position correctly, while one that is overloaded can sag or become unsafe.
For a curved screen, use the curved-screen limit when the manufacturer gives separate figures. STAND-V101BB is rated for 4.4–26.4 lb with flat screens but 4.4–24.2 lb with curved screens. That difference is small enough to matter when a display is near the limit. Never substitute the larger flat-screen number for a curved monitor.
2. Confirm the VESA hole pattern
Remove the stand or inspect the rear mounting area and measure the distance between holes horizontally and vertically. The VIVO models listed here accept 75×75 mm or 100×100 mm patterns. A monitor with a different pattern needs a compatible adapter, and an adapter changes the weight and clearance calculation. The available Amazon Basics manual summary does not establish a VESA pattern, so obtain the exact manual or listing before assuming compatibility.
3. Measure the desk, edge, and grommet
Measure the desktop thickness at the point where the arm will be installed, not only at the front edge. Check for a reinforcing bar, rear lip, cable tray, or wall that could prevent the clamp from seating fully. Also measure the distance from the desk edge to the monitor’s intended center position; an arm’s maximum extension does not guarantee that every screen can reach that point.

We offer two desk mounting options: C-clamp mounting for desks 0.39″–2.56″ thick, or grommet base mounting for desks 0.39″–2.95″ thick.
Clamp and grommet ranges can differ on the same product. STAND-V002O-L accepts 0.4–3.1-inch desktops with its C-clamp but only 0.4–1.9 inches through a grommet. STAND-V101BB accepts 0.4–2 inches. STAND-V101 lists a maximum desktop thickness of 3.25 inches. A desk that fits one mounting method may not fit the other.

If the desk has no suitable hole, use the clamp only within its published range; do not drill through a glass, hollow-core, or structurally uncertain surface without confirming that the material can carry the load.
4. Define the movement you actually need
Write down the positions you use rather than selecting an arm by screen size alone. Portrait work, a standing desk, a deep desktop, or a monitor shared between two seats can require different ranges.
- Height: STAND-V101BB publishes 9.6 inches of height adjustment. STAND-V002O-L publishes a 6.25–16-inch height-positioning range.
- Extension: STAND-V101BB reaches up to 18.7 inches; STAND-V002O-L lists a 33-inch arm span.
- Tilt: Both models publish +90° to −90° tilt.
- Swivel: Both publish 180° swivel.
- Rotation: STAND-V101BB lists 180° rotation, while STAND-V002O-L lists 360° rotation. STAND-V101 supports portrait or landscape orientation.
These are ranges, not guarantees about how effortless or stable an adjustment will feel. A mechanical-spring label describes the mechanism; it does not establish long-term durability or adjustment smoothness. Those qualities require evidence for the exact model and should not be inferred from the brand.
Which VIVO model fits common desk setups?
Choose STAND-V101BB for a larger single monitor within its limits
STAND-V101BB is the clearest match when you have one 17–40-inch display and need a broader extension and movement range than a basic compact arm. Its flat-screen capacity is 4.4–26.4 lb and its curved-screen capacity is 4.4–24.2 lb. The arm supports either a 75×75 mm or 100×100 mm VESA pattern and accepts a 0.4–2-inch desktop through a clamp or grommet.

- Great Adaptability: This HUANUO single monitor arm fits 13-32 inch monitors, holds 4.4-19.8 lbs, suitable for VESA patterns of 75x75mm & 100x100mm. This monitor mount is specially designed for ergonomics, aiming to help people work comfortably, and to help people have a better viewing experience.
- Full Adjustable: This PC monitor stand can remain completely stable at any angle without any extra work. Compared with other single monitor arm adjustment methods, huanuo can make you adjust screws repeatedly, this monitor arm is easy to use and has a tilt range from -50°to +85°, ±90 ° swivel, and 360°rotation, so your screen can be lifted up to 39.6cm from desktop with one hand.
- 80% Sturdier Than Others: At HUANUO, we focus on improving the strength and stability of our single monitor stand. The single desk monitor mount uses automotive-grade components and has undergone 20,000 motion tests, which means it can be used continuously for more than 5 years without issue.
- Installed In 3 Minutes: The 1-piece design monitor arm simplifies the installation, so all necessary hardware is included; The setup can be completed in 3 minutes. Step 1: Affix the bracket to your table; Step 2: Attach your monitor to the VESA plate; Step 3: Adjust tension according to your monitor weight.
- Two mounting options : You may choose to use either a C-clamp or grommet mount. For best results, make sure your table meets the following criteria: wood tabletop is recommended; the underside of the tabletop should ideally be free of any beams or panels that may interfere with the installation; the tabletop thickness and grommet mounting can support 0.59"-3.54”.
Choose STAND-V002O-L when a laptop belongs in the setup
STAND-V002O-L is not an apples-to-apples replacement for a single-monitor arm because it combines a monitor mount with a laptop tray. It supports a 17–32-inch monitor weighing 4.4–19.8 lb and a 10–15.6-inch laptop tray rated to 9.9 lb. Both the monitor and the tray have separate capacity considerations; do not add the two values and treat the result as a single-monitor rating.
The model accepts 75×75 mm or 100×100 mm VESA patterns. Its C-clamp covers 0.4–3.1-inch desktops, while the grommet range is 0.4–1.9 inches. The listed movement includes ±90° tilt, 180° swivel, 360° rotation, 6.25–16-inch height positioning, and a 33-inch arm span. Select it when the laptop tray is a deliberate part of the workspace, not simply because its arm span is longer. A three-year warranty is listed, subject to current regional terms.
Choose STAND-V101 for a standard single-monitor installation
STAND-V101 supports 13–32-inch displays up to 17.6 lb per monitor, with 75×75 mm or 100×100 mm VESA compatibility. It supports clamp or grommet mounting and lists a maximum desktop thickness of 3.25 inches. Cable management and portrait or landscape orientation are included in the product description, along with tilt, swivel, rotation, and height adjustment.
Check the suffix carefully. STAND-V101 is not the same product as STAND-V101BB: the latter covers larger screens and has different load and desk-thickness limits. A listing that omits the suffix is not precise enough for a safe purchase decision.
Where the documented Amazon Basics arm may fit
The Amazon Basics documentation is relevant if you are evaluating a dual-monitor arm that you already own or have identified by its exact manual. Its stated maximum load is 10 kg, and the manual emphasizes that the mounting surface must bear the combined weight of the mount and displays. That warning applies to the desk as a structure, not only to the clamp hardware.
Because the available document does not establish a per-screen rating, VESA pattern, desk-thickness range, movement limits, current warranty, or current seller availability, it cannot support a fair specification match against any one VIVO model. Find the product’s exact model number on the arm, packaging, or listing and obtain its current manual. If the seller cannot provide those details, treat compatibility as unverified rather than assuming that a similarly named Amazon Basics arm has the same limits.

- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Second, desk thickness range: 0.59" - 3.54". Third, the bottom of the desk should not have any cross beams or panels, as this will interfere with installation. We recommend carefully checking that your desk and monitors meets all above conditions before purchasing.
- Dual C-Clamp Hold - Worried your dual monitors might wobble or slip? Our upgraded base uses a larger platform plus a dual C-clamp structure to lock the dual monitor arm firmly to your desk. Each arm safely keeps your screens steady while you type, click and game—no shaking, no sliding, just a clean and secure setup you can trust every day. It also provides Grommet Mounting installation choice, both options ensure stable and secure fixation for your 0.59" - 3.54" desk.
- Full-Motion Adjustment For Comfortable View - Pull the screen closer when you’re deep in a spreadsheet, push it back to watch videos, or rotate to portrait for coding — moving everything smoothly with just one hand. The monitor stand offers +85°/-50° tilt, ±90° swivel and 360° rotation. Raise your monitor up to 15.75″ to support a healthy sitting posture. Whether you’re working from home, gaming through the night, or switching between video calls and documents, getting the screens to your natural line of sight helps relieve neck, shoulder and back strain so you can stay focused longer with less fatigue.
- Keep Your Desk Organized: By lifting both screens off the desktop, this dual monitor stand opens up valuable space for your keyboard, notebook, docking station or a simple, clutter-free work area. Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
The manual also instructs owners to check joint screws periodically. Include that inspection in routine maintenance, particularly after moving the desk or changing displays. Stop using the arm if a joint, clamp, bolt, or plate shows bending, stripped threads, or cracking.

Clamp versus grommet: selecting the safer installation
Use a clamp when the rear edge is accessible
A clamp is usually the simpler option when the desk has a solid rear edge within the stated thickness range. Before tightening, center the clamp pad on a structurally sound section, keep the arm base fully seated, and make sure the pad is not resting on a cable tray or unsupported overhang. Tighten the hardware evenly; excessive force can damage a thin or soft desktop.
Use a grommet when the desk has a suitable through-hole
A grommet can free the arm from a crowded rear edge, but it needs a correctly sized hole and clear space below the desk. Confirm the model’s grommet thickness range separately from its clamp range. Route cables only after the plate and bolt are secure so that cable tension does not pull the arm sideways.
Check the desk before either method
- Confirm the surface is solid enough to carry the arm, monitor, and any tray or accessories.
- Keep the base away from damaged edges, seams, and unsupported cutouts.
- Allow clearance for the arm to move without striking a wall, shelf, or neighboring display.
- Use a reinforcing plate only when it is compatible with the manufacturer’s hardware and does not hide a structural weakness.
A practical ordering and installation checklist
- Identify the exact SKU. Record every suffix, such as STAND-V101 versus STAND-V101BB. For Amazon Basics, locate the model number rather than relying on a generic brand search.
- Record monitor weight and shape. Use the display-only weight, add attached accessories, and apply the curved-screen limit when one is listed.
- Measure VESA holes. Confirm 75×75 mm or 100×100 mm compatibility for the VIVO models, or obtain the Amazon Basics model’s specification.
- Measure the desk. Record thickness at the mounting point, inspect edge clearance, and measure any grommet hole.
- Choose clamp or grommet. Compare the selected method’s thickness range, not just the product’s headline range.
- Map the desired positions. Check whether the published height, extension, tilt, swivel, and rotation can place the screen where you sit and where you stand.
- Verify the desk’s total load. The surface must support the mount plus every display and tray, not only the monitor’s weight.
- Install according to the exact manual. Attach the base first, secure the VESA plate to the monitor, and tighten joints only as specified. Do not improvise missing bolts.
- Balance and test gradually. Set spring tension or joint resistance with the monitor attached, move it through its range slowly, and confirm that it holds position before adding accessories.
- Recheck after use. Inspect screws and the mounting surface after installation and periodically thereafter, following the Amazon Basics manual’s joint-screw warning.
Common failure modes and fixes
The arm sags after installation
First compare the complete load with the exact model’s range. Remove accessories temporarily and check whether the monitor is curved, since some models have a lower curved-screen limit. If the load is within range, follow the manual’s tension-adjustment procedure; do not compensate by overtightening unrelated joints or bolts.
The clamp will not open far enough
Measure the desktop again at the actual mounting point. STAND-V101BB stops at 2 inches, while STAND-V002O-L’s C-clamp reaches 3.1 inches and its grommet fitting reaches only 1.9 inches. A different mounting method or model may be required; forcing the clamp can damage the desk or hardware.
Recommended Free Tools
The monitor cannot rotate or sit level
Confirm that the VESA plate is centered and that cables are not pulling against the screen. Check the model’s published rotation range—180° on STAND-V101BB versus 360° on STAND-V002O-L—and allow physical clearance around the display. Rotation capability does not mean every monitor can turn without hitting the desk or wall.
Best Value
- Check Desk & Monitor Compatibility: To ensure a proper fit, your monitor must meet these 3 conditions at the same time: First, screen size ranges 13"–32". Second, monitor weight must be between 4.4–15.4 lbs. Third, supports VESA 75×75mm or 100×100mm. Meanwhile, we recommend mounting this arm only on wood desks 0.59"–3.54" thick (other desk types not recommended). Note: If your desk has irregular edges, please choose this monitor arm carefully.
- MechaSpring Arm — Built for 2× Longer Life: Featuring the MechaSpring arm, this VESA monitor mount delivers consistent support over time for dependable performance that lasts. Unlike gas-based designs that may lose pressure, this monitor desk mount helps keep your monitor steady through everyday adjustments, offering up to 2× the service life of conventional mounts. Moreover, with 90% professional-grade metal construction, the single monitor arm delivers strong reliability, day after day.
- LockSteady System — Adjust with Ease, Hold with Strength: With the upgraded system, the monitor mount helps resist screen droop and moves smoothly with just one finger if you adjust screens often. For set-and-forget setups or deep focus work—like designing, coding and data analysis—where the monitor stays in place most of the time, it holds steady right where you leave it for reliable viewing. This monitor stand is also TÜV Rheinland certified and tested at 3x its load for added safety.
- ACA-Endorsed Design for Ergonomic Comfort — Backed by the American Chiropractic Association (ACA), the desk monitor mount helps reduce neck & back strain by raising your monitor to eye level and fine-tuning it. It transitions smoothly between focused coding, intense gaming and screen sharing during meetings, creating a more comfortable setup for both work and play. Not only does it transform your desk into a professional workstation, but it also supports your health as much as your productivity.
- PrecisionView Window — Tension Adjustment Made Visible: Stop guessing. Start seeing. Unlike a traditional monitor mount where tension is adjusted by feel alone, our integrated PrecisionView window provides instant visual feedback through the yellow indicator movement. You'll know exactly when the tension is perfectly calibrated for your monitor's weight — no more over-tightening or endless trial and error. This professional-grade precision puts you in full control from the first turn.
The monitor does not attach
Re-measure the VESA pattern and inspect the supplied screw length. A 75×75 mm or 100×100 mm plate will not directly fit every display pattern. Do not use a screw that bottoms out in the monitor or leaves the plate loose; obtain the correct hardware or an explicitly compatible adapter.
The desk flexes or begins to crack
Unload the arm immediately and inspect the clamp or grommet area. The desk must support the combined mount-and-display weight. A thicker clamp range does not make a weak or hollow surface structurally suitable.
Price, availability, and warranty checks
No current prices or stock figures are established for the products discussed here. VIVO’s pages list three-year warranties for the cited models, but warranty coverage and terms can vary by region and revision. The Amazon Basics manual directs owners to Amazon for warranty information and is dated 2017; it does not prove the terms of a currently sold product.

Decision guide: which one is right for your desk?
- One large flat or curved display: Start with STAND-V101BB if the screen, weight, VESA pattern, and 0.4–2-inch desk all fit. Apply the lower curved-screen limit where relevant.
- One monitor plus a laptop: STAND-V002O-L is the purpose-built option, provided the monitor and laptop each stay within their separate limits and the desk fits the selected clamp or grommet range.
- One conventional 13–32-inch monitor: STAND-V101 covers this size range up to 17.6 lb per monitor and supports portrait or landscape positioning. Confirm the suffix and desk thickness.
- Two monitors and an Amazon Basics arm: Use the exact Amazon Basics manual and model number. The documented 10 kg maximum is for the mount as described, not a confirmed per-screen allowance, so do not compare it directly with a VIVO single-arm rating.
- Unusual desk or unknown monitor: Delay the purchase until you have verified weight, VESA, desktop thickness, mounting method, and the manufacturer’s current manual. Those measurements matter more than the brand name.
The defensible choice is therefore model-specific: match the load first, then mounting compatibility, screen arrangement, movement range, and finally current support and purchase terms. Neither brand can be declared categorically stronger, smoother, more durable, easier to install, or better value from the documented specifications alone.
