You cannot officially download or install the Amazon Appstore on Windows 11 now. Microsoft removed the Amazon Appstore and Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) from the Microsoft Store on March 5, 2025. Amazon also ended support for its Windows 11 Appstore implementation after that date.
The old instructions—open Microsoft Store, search for Amazon Appstore, and select Get—are obsolete. If the app does not appear in Store search, that is expected and is not usually a problem with your PC, region, or Virtual Machine Platform setting.
Can you install Amazon Appstore on Windows 11?
No. The official Windows 11 version has been discontinued. Microsoft’s support page still contains some wording from the former setup process, including instructions to install Amazon Appstore from Microsoft Store, but the product is no longer available there.

Amazon stopped allowing customers to search for the Appstore and related apps in Microsoft Store on March 6, 2024. The wind-down period allowed some existing installations to continue temporarily, but it did not preserve long-term support.

The former installation method
For reference, this was the procedure when the service was available:
- Open Start and select Microsoft Store.
- Search for Amazon Appstore.
- Select the app and choose Get or Install.
- Allow Windows to install the required Windows Subsystem for Android components.
- Open Amazon Appstore from the Start menu.
- Sign in with an Amazon account.
That workflow no longer completes on a current Windows 11 installation because the Store listing and required WSA package are unavailable. A Microsoft Store link that reports “unavailable” or “incompatible” does not necessarily indicate that your hardware failed a compatibility check; the product itself has been withdrawn.
Former system requirements
These were requirements for the discontinued implementation. Meeting them does not restore access to Amazon Appstore:

- Windows 11
- x64 or ARM64 processor
- 16 GB RAM recommended
- SSD recommended
- Virtual Machine Platform enabled in Windows Features
- A supported country or region
Enabling Virtual Machine Platform is therefore not a current installation solution. It was a prerequisite for WSA, but it cannot download a package that Microsoft and Amazon no longer provide.
What to do if the Amazon Appstore is missing from Microsoft Store
Do not spend time changing your region, repeatedly searching the Store, or enabling virtualization in the hope that the listing will return. On current systems, the missing listing is the expected result of the discontinuation.

You can verify that the Microsoft Store itself is present, but these checks will not install Amazon Appstore.
Check Store registration for your account
Open Windows Terminal or PowerShell without choosing “Run as administrator,” then run:
Get-AppxPackage *Microsoft.WindowsStore*If the Store package exists but is not correctly registered for your user, Microsoft documents this registration command:
Add-AppxPackage -RegisterByFamilyName -MainPackage Microsoft.WindowsStore_8wekyb3d8bbweRun it from a non-elevated PowerShell window. Microsoft warns that using an elevated window can register the app for the administrator account rather than the current user.
Check whether the Store package exists for any user
To inspect Store registration across accounts, open an elevated PowerShell window and run:

Get-AppxPackage *Microsoft.WindowsStore* -AllUsersThese commands are useful when Microsoft Store will not open or download any applications. They do not provide a workaround for the discontinued Amazon Appstore.

If Microsoft Store itself is failing, the cause may be separate from Amazon Appstore’s discontinuation. Microsoft identifies several possible causes:
- The Store package is not registered for the current user.
- An administrator has blocked Microsoft Store with policy, including the
RemoveWindowsStorepolicy. - Automatic Store updates have been blocked.
- A firewall or proxy prevents access to required Microsoft Store, Windows Update, or related endpoints.
Fixing these issues can restore ordinary Store downloads, but it will not make Amazon Appstore appear. Similarly, winget can search for and install available applications, but there is no verified current Amazon Appstore package identifier supplied by Microsoft:
winget search <App name>
winget install <App name>Do not trust random commands claiming to install Amazon Appstore by package name. A command may install an unrelated package, an unofficial Android runtime, or potentially unsafe software.
How can you run Android apps on Windows 11 now?
The official Amazon Appstore and WSA route is closed. Your practical options are:

- Use the Android app on an Android phone or tablet.
- Use an Android emulator from a reputable vendor if the app’s terms and your organization’s policies permit it.
- Use a supported alternative platform that provides the application natively.
Unofficial WSA packages, modified system images, and third-party APK installation tools are not the former Microsoft-supported Amazon Appstore. They can introduce security, update, compatibility, and account risks, so they should not be presented as an official download method.
If Amazon Appstore was already installed
Amazon allowed previously installed apps to remain usable during the wind-down period. That did not mean the service would remain supported indefinitely. After March 5, 2025, Amazon Appstore on Windows 11 and apps installed through it are no longer supported.
If the old app still appears in your Start menu, it may launch on some systems, but you should not rely on it for new installations, updates, authentication, or continued operation. Avoid uninstalling it merely to troubleshoot unless you are prepared for the possibility that it cannot be reinstalled.

Why is Amazon Appstore not showing in the Windows 11 Microsoft Store?
Amazon Appstore was removed from Microsoft Store availability. Amazon stopped discovery and new installations on March 6, 2024, and Microsoft states that Amazon Appstore and WSA have not been available in the Store since March 5, 2025.

Can Virtual Machine Platform make Amazon Appstore available again?
No. Virtual Machine Platform was a former requirement for Windows Subsystem for Android, but enabling it does not restore the discontinued Amazon Appstore package.

Can I install Amazon Appstore with WinGet?
There is no verified current Amazon Appstore package identifier provided by Microsoft. Generic commands such as winget search and winget install cannot restore a discontinued Store product.
Is Amazon Appstore still supported if it was installed before March 5, 2025?
No. Previously installed apps could continue during the wind-down period, but Amazon ended support for the Windows 11 implementation after March 5, 2025.
Is the problem caused by using an unsupported country or region?
Region restrictions applied when the service was operating. The current issue is broader: Amazon Appstore for Windows 11 has been discontinued and is unavailable regardless of region.
What should I use instead of Amazon Appstore on Windows 11?
Use a Windows or web version of the service, run the app on an Android device, or consider a reputable Android emulator where appropriate. There is no current official Microsoft-Amazon replacement for WSA and Amazon Appstore.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Amazon Appstore cannot be officially downloaded or installed on Windows 11 today. The Microsoft Store search-and-install instructions belong to the discontinued setup process. Repairing Microsoft Store may fix Store problems generally, but it will not bring back Amazon Appstore or Windows Subsystem for Android.
