What “Amazon Alexa tablets” means in this comparison
Amazon announced a new 2026 tablet family on October 9: the Alexa Tablet 8, Alexa Tablet 11, and Alexa Tablet 12 Pro. Amazon says these tablets run Android, include Google Play Store access, and have Alexa+ built in. The Apple comparison is the M5 iPad Pro, available in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes. This is a specifications-based comparison, not a report from hands-on testing.
Amazon’s separate support FAQ discusses Alexa on certain Fire tablets. Its instructions should not be treated as confirmation that the new Alexa Tablet line has the same hands-free behavior or privacy settings. How the operating systems and apps differ
Amazon Alexa Tablets: Android, Google Play, and Alexa+
Amazon says the new tablets include Google Play Store access, with apps such as YouTube, Netflix, Gmail, and Google Docs, alongside Amazon services including Prime Video, Kindle, Audible, Amazon Music, and Amazon Luna. Alexa+ is built in and can be used by voice or a screen button. Amazon describes smart-home control and on-screen context features; it says On-Screen Intelligence is off by default, requires opt-in, and displays an indicator when Alexa can see the screen.

iPad Pro: iPadOS, Siri, and Apple Intelligence
The iPad Pro runs iPadOS. Apple lists Siri voice activation and Apple Intelligence support for the M5 model. If a particular work, creative, accessibility, or entertainment app is essential, check its availability and requirements on your intended platform rather than assuming it works identically across Android and iPadOS.
Amazon’s FAQ says certain Fire tablets support hands-free Alexa under specified conditions; it also describes audio streaming to Amazon’s cloud after wake-word detection. That information is specific to certain Fire tablets and does not establish the exact behavior of every new Alexa Tablet model. Amazon’s Alexa and Fire tablet FAQ

Which models and screens are you comparing?
| Model | Display and hardware | Manufacturer-stated battery life |
|---|---|---|
| Alexa Tablet 8 | 8.7-inch display; 329 g | Up to 14 hours of video playback |
| Alexa Tablet 11 | 11-inch, 2560 × 1600 IPS display at 276 ppi; 8 GB RAM; 64 GB or 128 GB storage; MediaTek MT8189; Wi-Fi 6; 8 MP front and rear cameras | Up to 15 hours of video playback |
| Alexa Tablet 12 Pro | 11.95-inch, 2800 × 1840 IPS display at 280 ppi; 8 GB or 16 GB RAM; 128 GB or 256 GB storage; Wi-Fi 6E; Amazon also describes a 120 Hz display, a 4 nm eight-core chip, and four Dolby Atmos speakers | Up to 16 hours of video playback; up to 20 hours of reading in the Kindle environment |
| iPad Pro (M5) | 11-inch or 13-inch Tandem OLED Ultra Retina XDR display; ProMotion adaptive refresh from 10 Hz to 120 Hz; 1,000 nits maximum SDR brightness and 1,600 nits peak HDR brightness. M5 chip; 12 GB unified memory in 256 GB and 512 GB models, 16 GB in 1 TB and 2 TB models. | Up to 10 hours of Wi-Fi web surfing or video playback; up to 9 hours of web surfing on cellular models |
Amazon provides specifications for the Alexa Tablet 11 and Alexa Tablet 12 Pro. Apple’s iPad Pro technical specifications cover the M5 sizes and configurations. The battery figures above are vendor-stated maxima, not results from a standardized head-to-head test; the stated use cases also differ, so they do not establish which tablet lasts longer in comparable real-world use.
For portability and everyday media
The 8.7-inch Alexa Tablet 8 is the smallest listed option and weighs 329 g, making it the lineup’s portability-focused choice. Amazon positions the 11-inch model for browsing, reading, streaming, and gaming. If screen quality and size matter more than a smaller form factor, compare the 11-inch options directly rather than relying on diagonal measurements alone: the Alexa Tablet 11 is IPS, while the iPad Pro uses Tandem OLED.

For a premium-size comparison
The Alexa Tablet 12 Pro is Amazon’s closest lineup match for a larger, productivity-oriented comparison, but it is not a like-for-like substitute for either iPad Pro size. Its 11.95-inch IPS screen differs in panel technology and size from Apple’s 11-inch and 13-inch Tandem OLED displays. Amazon’s chip and battery descriptions are manufacturer claims, not evidence that the tablet performs faster or lasts longer than an iPad Pro in use.
Do you need a keyboard or stylus?
Alexa Tablet 12 Pro accessories
Amazon says the 12 Pro supports an optional Pro Pen and Pro Keyboard. The Pro Pen is described as USI 2.0, with pressure sensitivity, tilt detection, magnetic docking, and wireless charging. The keyboard attaches magnetically without Bluetooth pairing and supports side-by-side windows. These are Amazon’s feature descriptions; comparative typing, drawing, and multitasking quality has not been independently established here. Amazon announced a US price of $89.99 for the Pro Pen and $149.99 for the keyboard.

Which tablet should you choose?
- Choose an Alexa Tablet 8 if a smaller screen and the lowest announced entry price in this Amazon lineup matter most.
- Choose an Alexa Tablet 11 if you want an 11-inch Android tablet with Google Play access and Amazon’s services, without stepping up to the 12 Pro tier.
- Choose an Alexa Tablet 12 Pro if you want the largest Amazon option, Alexa+ features, and Amazon’s optional pen and keyboard pathway. Include those accessories in your budget if you need them.
- Choose an M5 iPad Pro if iPadOS, Apple Pencil support, Apple Intelligence, Thunderbolt/USB 4, or Apple’s Tandem OLED display is central to your workflow. Select 11-inch or 13-inch based on workspace and portability, then price the needed storage and accessories.
Before buying, check the apps you depend on, how the tablet fits with your existing services and smart-home devices, and the complete cost for your chosen size, storage, keyboard, and stylus. Treat the battery figures as manufacturers’ stated maxima rather than a direct comparison.
