All Ultimate Selection runs on Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge. To host it successfully, install the dedicated server pack that matches the client’s exact pack release, give a small server about 10GB of RAM as a starting point, and keep extra headroom for world generation, automation and additional players. CurseForge lists a separate server-pack download, so do not try to turn the small client ZIP into a server by itself.

The newest release observed on the CurseForge files index is All Ultimate Selection MC 1.21.1-2.0.0, uploaded September 28, 2026, with a corresponding server-pack release. The instructions below cover managed hosting and self-hosting, version checks, memory planning, backups, upgrades and the failure points that commonly prevent players from joining.

What All Ultimate Selection is

All Ultimate Selection is a large Minecraft kitchen-sink modpack for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1. The project owner, TheWizard, describes it as: “450+ mods. Tech, Create, RPG, Magic, Exploration, Dimensions & much more. Everything in one modpack.” That is the author’s project description, not an independently audited count, and the exact mod list can change between releases.

The pack is categorized around exploration, multiplayer, quests, extra-large and vanilla-plus play. In practical terms, a server may combine Create automation, technology trees, RPG progression, magic, combat, building, farming, storage and quality-of-life features with new biomes, structures, dungeons, bosses and dimensions. Those systems make the pack attractive for a group server, but they also create a heavier workload than a lightly modded survival world.

Compatibility rules you must follow

Most installation failures are caused by one side using a different release from the other. Treat the following three values as a single compatibility key:

Item Required value What to check
Minecraft 1.21.1 The client profile and the server installation must both report 1.21.1.
Mod loader NeoForge Do not substitute Fabric, Forge or a different NeoForge line.
Pack release The same All Ultimate Selection version on both sides For example, a 2.0.0 client requires the matching 2.0.0 server pack.

CurseForge showed version 2.0.0 as the latest observed release on September 28, 2026. Release numbers and files can change, so select the version you actually intend to run rather than assuming the newest file is installed everywhere. A 2.0.0 client should not be paired with an older server pack unless the author’s release notes explicitly confirm compatibility.

Choose managed hosting or self-hosting

Both approaches can run the pack. The difference is who performs the operating work.

Decision area Managed hosting Self-hosting
Initial setup The provider’s panel installs the selected pack, Minecraft version and NeoForge configuration. You download and extract the server pack, start the supplied loader files and configure the machine and network.
Version control Usually a version selector or Addons panel; you still need to verify the client and server release match. You choose every file and must keep client, server pack, Minecraft and NeoForge aligned manually.
CPU and RAM headroom Easy plan upgrades, although the advertised allocation is not an independent performance benchmark. You control the hardware and can tune it, but you are responsible for monitoring contention with other services.
Backups and migration Depends on the provider’s backup policy and export tools. You control backup frequency, storage location and restoration tests.
Network and support A data-center location and support team are included in the service level you purchase. You provide the public address, port forwarding, firewall rules and troubleshooting.
Cost Recurring monthly charge; the convenience is part of the price. No hosting subscription is required, but hardware, electricity, storage and administration are your costs.

Choose managed hosting when you want the shortest path to a playable server, a control panel and a simple upgrade path. Choose self-hosting when you already have a suitable machine, need full control over files and backups, or want to avoid a recurring hosting bill.

Managed hosting: installation procedure

Several providers publish pack-specific one-click installation pages. Their labels differ, but the sequence is broadly the same.

  1. Open the provider’s modpack selector. Search for All Ultimate Selection, then select the Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge entry rather than a similarly named pack.
  2. Select the exact pack release. If you are installing 2.0.0, select 2.0.0 on the server as well as in the client launcher. Record the release number for your group.
  3. Choose a plan with enough memory. A 10GB allocation is the common starting recommendation for a small managed server. Treat it as provider guidance, not a guaranteed player capacity.
  4. Review the order or setup summary. Confirm the selected game version, loader, pack version, storage and location before installation. Some panels show the Minecraft plan and version in a cart; others present the choices in a control panel.
  5. Start the installation. The provider may download the server pack, create the NeoForge launch configuration and prepare the first world automatically. Wait for the panel to report that the installation is complete before changing files.
  6. Open the server console once. Check that the log identifies Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge and the intended All Ultimate Selection release. Stop and correct the installation if it reports a different loader or pack.
  7. Configure access and gameplay. Set the server name, difficulty, whitelist and operator permissions in the panel or the generated configuration files. Make a backup before changing large groups of settings.
  8. Connect with a matching client. Every player should install the same pack release, Minecraft version and NeoForge profile. Use the address and port shown by the provider, not an address copied from another server.

How provider workflows differ

BoxToPlay documents selecting the All Ultimate Selection version, reviewing the cart with the Minecraft plan and selected version, and receiving a server with installation performed during setup. VeryGames documents choosing the pack and version in its control panel, creating the installation and applying later updates through its Addons panel. CreeperHost says its system prepares the Minecraft version, modloader and launch setup automatically.

These descriptions explain the interface workflow, not a guarantee of identical performance. Confirm the current pack release, server location, backup terms and upgrade process on the provider’s own page before paying.

Published hosting configurations

Provider example Published pack-specific detail How to interpret it
WinterNode Lists a Minecraft 1.21.1 NeoForge server, one-click installation and a recommended 10GB configuration. The listed starting configuration was $19.90 per month in an October 2026 page state. Price and availability are time-sensitive. Verify the current checkout price and region.
Game Host Bros Advertises one-click installation, a dedicated server pack and at least 10GB RAM. It says 8.7GB is allocated to Java at startup. The 10GB figure is provider guidance, and the Java allocation is that provider’s configuration, not an official benchmark.
Other managed hosts BoxToPlay, VeryGames and CreeperHost describe pack selection or automatic preparation. Check whether the selected product includes backups, a dedicated IP, file access and a clear upgrade path.

The pack author’s project page says TheWizard personally uses BisectHosting to test and host the pack, describes stable performance and one-click installation, and advertises a 25% discount code. That is a first-party promotional statement, not an independent capacity test or service guarantee.

Self-hosting with the official server pack

CurseForge provides a separate dedicated server-pack artifact. Use that artifact instead of copying the client profile. The exact startup files can change between releases, so use the scripts and instructions included in the server-pack archive and the current NeoForge documentation for the release you selected.

  1. Download the matching server pack. In the CurseForge files list, select the server-pack file whose All Ultimate Selection version, Minecraft version and NeoForge combination exactly matches the client you will distribute.
  2. Create a clean server directory. Use a dedicated folder with enough free storage for the archive, extracted libraries, the world, logs, backups and future updates. Do not extract a new release over an important world before making a backup.
  3. Extract the archive without renaming its internal structure. Keep the included mods, configuration folders, libraries and launch scripts together. The archive is the server’s starting point; the small client ZIP is not a substitute.
  4. Read the supplied startup instructions. Start the server with the launch script or command provided in that release. Do not copy Java flags from an unrelated modpack: memory settings, loader arguments and file names can differ.
  5. Complete the first-run prompts. If the server asks you to review or accept Minecraft’s EULA, follow that prompt before starting it again. Let the first startup finish so NeoForge can create its generated files and world folders.
  6. Check the console for a clean load. Look for the expected Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge versions, the intended pack release and a completed server state. Stop for any missing-mod, wrong-loader or dependency error instead of allowing players into a partially loaded world.
  7. Configure the network. Give the host machine a stable local address, allow the server through its operating-system firewall and forward Minecraft’s standard Java server port, 25565, from the router to that machine when players connect from outside your home network. If your provider or network uses another port, use the value shown in the server configuration and share that value with players.
  8. Test locally, then remotely. First connect from the host’s local network. After that succeeds, test from a different network, such as a phone hotspot. A local test can pass even when router forwarding or an external firewall is wrong.
  9. Distribute the client profile. Give every player the same pack release and loader combination. Do not ask players to add individual mods to “make it work”; that can create a different dependency set from the server.

Why the archive size matters

For the 1.4.0 release uploaded August 30, 2026, CurseForge listed a 7.1MB client ZIP and a 1.3GB dedicated server ZIP. The difference is expected: a server pack includes libraries, loader files and server-side structure needed to run independently. Those figures describe 1.4.0 only; the current 2.0.0 archive size was not established here.

RAM, CPU and storage planning

Hosting recommendations cluster around 10GB of RAM for a small All Ultimate Selection server. WinterNode describes 8–12GB as typical depending on player count and view distance, while Game Host Bros recommends at least 10GB and says 14GB or more provides additional headroom for busier groups and automation. These are provider recommendations, not an official benchmark from TheWizard, CurseForge or NeoForge.

Situation Starting allocation to evaluate What can force an increase
Small group, moderate view distance About 10GB Heavy exploration, frequent new chunks, large structures or many entities.
Several active players and Create automation More than the small-server baseline; monitor before choosing a fixed limit Contraptions, farms, item transport, machines and simultaneous chunk loading.
Busier community or long-running world 14GB or more may provide additional headroom according to Game Host Bros Higher concurrency, pre-generation, dimensions, dense bases and sustained entity counts.

RAM alone does not determine tick performance. CPU speed, single-thread behavior, storage latency, view distance, simulation distance, chunk generation and entity counts all matter. A server that starts successfully can still lag when several players explore different directions or activate large automation systems.

How to monitor before upgrading

  • Record the number of concurrent players and the view and simulation distances when lag occurs.
  • Check the server console for repeated tick-delay or out-of-memory errors rather than increasing memory blindly.
  • Note whether the problem appears during fresh world generation, near a large base, in a dimension or during an automated production cycle.
  • Increase the plan or allocation in a controlled step, then repeat the same activity to see whether the symptom changes.

Leave operating-system memory and provider overhead available. A provider’s advertised 10GB plan may not give the Java process a full 10GB; Game Host Bros, for example, says its 10GB configuration allocates 8.7GB to Java at startup.

Backups, updates and migration

Back up before every version change

  1. Stop the server cleanly and wait for the console to confirm shutdown.
  2. Copy the world folders, configuration folders, server properties, whitelist and operator files to storage outside the live server directory.
  3. Label the backup with the Minecraft version, NeoForge version, All Ultimate Selection release and date.
  4. Keep at least one backup that is not mounted on the same machine. A disk failure or accidental deletion should not destroy every copy.
  5. Test a restore on a separate directory before calling an upgrade complete.

Updating an existing world

Read the release notes for the target All Ultimate Selection version first. Install the matching server pack in a separate directory, copy only the data you intentionally migrate, and launch it with a backup available. Do not replace the live pack in place while players are connected. If the new release fails to load, return to the previous directory and restore the matching backup rather than deleting configuration files at random.

Moving between self-hosting and a provider

Export the world and the configuration files that govern player access, then confirm the destination supports the same Minecraft, NeoForge and pack release. Upload the matching server-pack files before placing the world into the destination directory. Test the imported world privately, check player permissions and verify that scheduled backups are running before announcing the new address.

Troubleshooting the most common failures

Players receive a mismatched-version or incompatible-mod error

Compare the three-part compatibility key on both sides: Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge and the exact All Ultimate Selection release. Reinstall the client profile from the same release used by the server. Do not solve the error by adding random mods or downgrading only one side.

The server stops during startup

Read the first meaningful error in the console, not only the final shutdown line. A missing dependency, wrong loader, incomplete extraction or damaged download can stop a large pack before the world opens. Re-download the matching server pack into a clean directory and compare its included files with the launch instructions.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The server starts but players cannot connect

Test from the host machine, then from the same local network, then from an external network. If local connections work but external ones fail, check the operating-system firewall, router forwarding to the correct local address and the port configured by the server. Confirm that players are using the public address supplied for the host, not a private 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x address.

World generation causes severe lag

Reduce simultaneous exploration, lower view or simulation distance and allow new areas to generate before a group adventure. Chunk pre-generation can move the cost to a planned maintenance period, but it also consumes CPU, storage and time; monitor the machine rather than assuming it is free.

Automation causes lag after the server has been running

Inspect dense Create systems, item transport, farms, mobs and chunk-loaded machines. Spread processing across fewer active areas, reduce unnecessary entities and avoid keeping large numbers of chunks loaded. If the workload is legitimate for your group, add CPU and memory headroom after measuring the change.

Pre-launch checklist

  • Client and server use Minecraft 1.21.1.
  • Both sides use NeoForge, not another loader.
  • The pack release is identical on every client and on the server.
  • The official dedicated server-pack archive was used for self-hosting.
  • The machine or plan starts with about 10GB RAM for a small group and has room for overhead.
  • The first startup completed without missing-mod or dependency errors.
  • Firewall and router settings allow the configured server port.
  • A clean backup exists before players create valuable builds.
  • Players know the exact pack release and the correct server address.

Bottom line

For the least administration, select All Ultimate Selection 2.0.0 (or the release you have chosen) in a managed host’s pack selector and verify that the panel installs Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge. For self-hosting, download the matching CurseForge server pack, use its included startup instructions, configure the standard network path and maintain your own backups. Plan around 10GB for a small server, then adjust based on concurrent players, exploration and automation rather than treating any provider’s number as a universal benchmark.
