Valor Mortis has six obtainable sword and firearm weapons. The Saber starts in Chapter 1, while the Pistol, Rapier, Blunderbuss, Musket and Claymore appear through Chapters 2–6. Most pickups are built into story progression, and missed weapons can be collected after the final boss when previously visited areas reopen.

Chapter-by-chapter weapon locations
Chapter 1: Revival — Saber
The Saber is the only weapon you need to search for in the opening chapter. The game awards it automatically at the start, so there is no hidden room, optional fight or special interaction to trigger.
Chapter 2: Regroup — Pistol
In Valley of Ashes, reach the bridge platforming sequence. As you move across the platforms, check the train car on the left. The Pistol is inside, and collecting it is required to continue, making it difficult to permanently overlook during a normal playthrough.
#1 Best Overall
- HARNESS CORRUPTED POWER - Each death is a chance to grow stronger. Master a combat system of parries, dashes, and visceral finishers across a variety of weapons. Channel your power to enhance attacks and unlock new supernatural abilities to inflict upon your enemies.
- SECRETS LITTER THE BATTLEFIELD - Navigate a 19th-century alternate history where the costs of endless war have corrupted the landscape. - UNCOVER A HORRID CONSPIRACY - Witness a compelling story where historical figures and realities intertwine with elements of horror and the supernatural. Explore beyond the dark corners of the world to discover the truth behind the plague and your unholy resurrection.
Chapter 3: Rendezvous — Rapier
From the Abandoned Church, follow the route toward the Village. A body blocks the way with the Rapier lodged in it. Take the weapon to clear this story path; the pickup is not an optional detour.
Chapter 3: Rendezvous — Blunderbuss
The second Chapter 3 weapon is in the Fallen Village’s Fields area. Find the Volunteer wielding a large sword and defeat it. Behind that enemy is a carriage containing a table with the Blunderbuss. Search the carriage after the fight rather than leaving immediately.
Rank #2
- Item is intended for adults, over the age of 18. This is not a child’s toy.
- Solitaire Play
- 22 x34 Map
- 300+ Counters
- Unit Size: 1 Plane
Chapter 5: Crime — Musket
In Vale of Wrath, Under the Bridge, defeat the dual-sword Volunteer. This enemy drops the Wagon Key. Take the key to the central wagon, enter it and collect the Musket from the table. The weapon is therefore tied to both the combat encounter and the locked-wagon route.
Chapter 6: Punishment — Claymore
At the Village Church, shoot the two weak points on the outside of the building. This opens the front door. Go inside and pull the Claymore from the body to add the final sword in the six-weapon list.
Are any weapons missable?
According to the 100% walkthrough guidance, important items are not permanently missable. After defeating the final boss, you can return to earlier areas and clean up a weapon you skipped. If you are playing normally, still collect each item when first encountered: the Pistol and Rapier are mandatory path pickups, while the Blunderbuss, Musket and Claymore require you to inspect an area after a fight or environmental puzzle.
Recommended cleanup approach
- Finish the story if you have already passed a weapon location.
- After the final boss, revisit the relevant chapter area.
- Use the landmark in the table—train car, body, carriage, central wagon or church—to identify the pickup.
- Confirm the weapon has been added before leaving the area.
Weapons versus Transmutations
The trophy roadmap counts nine total “Weapons and Transmutations,” but only six of those entries are swords or guns. The remaining three are abilities called Transmutations:
Rank #4
- Fire — Chapter 1
- Stasis — Chapter 4
- Shield — Chapter 8
Fire, Stasis and Shield should not be added to a sword-and-gun checklist. They explain why an achievement or roadmap may show nine total entries even after you have collected all six conventional weapons.
What is known about weapon stats?
The published location guides identify where and when each weapon is obtained, but they do not provide a complete authoritative table of damage, upgrade values or other numerical performance statistics. Consequently, there is no evidence-based ranking here claiming that one sword or firearm is universally strongest. Choose equipment based on the encounter and your preferred play style until an in-game or developer-backed stat reference is available.
