Hellraiser: Revival uses several puzzle families rather than one universal symbol system. You will read distorted rooms and enemy routes, use the Genesis Configuration to move platforms or match shapes, rebuild pictures, follow plaques, connect wires, and solve location-specific locks and safes.
The most reliable rule is to inspect the immediate area before interacting. Photographs, diagrams, papers, plaques, artwork and even repeated room details usually tell you what to do. The examples below combine the official developer preview with clearly attributed walkthrough examples; they are solutions for reported locations, not a complete catalogue of every symbol or a set of reusable codes.
What kinds of puzzles are in Hellraiser: Revival?
The available information supports six broad families. They overlap in practice: a single encounter may require finding an object, changing the Genesis Configuration, and then using a visual clue to choose the correct route. Thinking in families helps you decide what to examine when progress stops.

This is a practical classification, not an official exhaustive glossary. Assistant Game Director Vid Rajin said the Genesis Configuration sits “at the centre of things,” but the developer preview does not publish every symbol, shape or alternate solution.

Environmental perspective puzzles: when the room is the clue
Recognize a loop instead of searching for a key
In an early house sequence described in the official PlayStation Blog preview, crooked photographs and repeating rooms indicate that ordinary forward movement is failing. The solution is to turn around. Reversing direction changes the setting and breaks the apparent loop.
- Stop advancing when rooms, furniture or photographs repeat in an unnatural way.
- Look for visual distortion, especially crooked pictures or details that do not match the previous pass.
- Turn back through the route rather than assuming you missed an item.
- Continue only after the environment changes; the altered layout is the confirmation that the perspective trick worked.
This type of puzzle tests whether you treat scenery as information. A dead end may be a direction problem, not an inventory problem.
Use enemy behavior to find a viable route
The same preview describes escaping Chatterer by discovering a corridor where he does not teleport in front of Aidan. Do not interpret every blocked path as a combat challenge. Watch where the enemy appears, compare corridors, and test a route that changes his behavior. The relevant clue is the route response itself.
- Observe whether the enemy repeatedly materializes at the same points.
- Check side corridors and changes in direction instead of sprinting straight ahead.
- When one passage prevents the teleporting interception, treat that absence as the solution.
Genesis Configuration traversal puzzles
How the box changes the environment
The Genesis Configuration is more than a collectible or a conventional combination lock. In the official preview’s example, manipulating it rotates a large wheel. That movement realigns narrow walkways above a spike-filled room, creating a safe crossing.
- Survey the entire chamber before turning the box. Identify the wheel, suspended walkways, spikes and any reachable landing points.
- Manipulate the Genesis Configuration and watch which mechanical element responds.
- Wait for the moving structure to settle, then trace the new line between safe platforms.
- Cross using the aligned walkways. If the route still ends over spikes, recheck which mechanism moved and whether another position is required.
The important reasoning step is causal: connect the box’s movement to the room’s geometry. The game expects you to notice that a distant platform is the result of your adjustment.
Genesis Configuration as a shape key
Some gates combine object placement with shape matching. A statue may be missing a tongue or hand. Finding that part is only the first requirement; the visible relief or receptacle then tells you which Genesis Configuration shape to create.

- Inspect the statue and identify the missing component.
- Search the nearby area for the tongue, hand or other required object.
- Place the object in the statue so the mechanism is complete.
- Examine the relief, socket or outline on the gate.
- Rotate the Genesis Configuration until its profile matches that visible shape.
- Activate the gate and confirm that the matching form, rather than a guessed symbol name, is what matters.
The preview confirms this general mechanic but does not provide a complete list of shape names or symbols. If a particular gate does not open, compare the physical outline again instead of relying on a remembered icon.

Why these puzzles can feel different
The same device also has combat uses, so its presence does not automatically mean a puzzle is nearby. First identify whether the box is affecting a route, a lock shape or an encounter. For traversal, the tell is a visible change in platforms, wheels or other architecture.
Picture, image and ordering puzzles
Four-block well puzzle
GameSpew’s October 8, 2026 walkthrough reports a well puzzle involving four blocks. A nearby paper shows the target image. Each block can be rotated, and the objective is to reconstruct the reference rather than discover a hidden numerical code.
- Read the paper completely before touching the blocks.
- Note the orientation of distinctive lines, corners and high-contrast features in the reference.
- Rotate one block at a time, using the neighboring edges to maintain continuity.
- Compare the assembled face with the paper from the same viewing angle.
- Make small corrections until the image is continuous; random spinning is slower because each turn changes more than one edge.
The walkthrough is a secondary source, so treat this as the reported solution method for that well, not proof that every four-piece puzzle uses the same image.
Picture lock on a door
Another walkthrough example is a door whose picture pieces must align with artwork beside it. The artwork is the reference. Read the complete composition first, then rotate or move the lock pieces until their edges and major shapes reproduce it.

- Use the adjacent artwork, not a partial glimpse of the lock, as the authoritative pattern.
- Match large shapes and borders before adjusting small details.
- Check the image from the normal interaction viewpoint; perspective can make a correct alignment look wrong from an angle.
Bell ordering from a plaque
GameSpew also describes a bell puzzle whose order is given by a plaque. This is a sequence puzzle, not an image assembly. Read the plaque, identify the order it specifies, and activate the bells in that sequence. If the mechanism resets, reread the plaque rather than assuming the reset changed the answer.

Locks, safes and combinations
Sliding picture safe
The official preview describes a safe with a sliding picture lock. A diagram on a desk provides the clue. This combines a visual arrangement with a conventional safe interaction: copy the diagram’s arrangement into the safe rather than searching for a four-digit number.
- Locate and inspect the desk diagram before operating the safe.
- Determine how the diagram’s sections correspond to the safe’s sliding pieces.
- Reproduce the arrangement, checking the complete picture rather than one tile.
- Open the safe and collect its contents.
The preview says safe rewards can include crafting resources, ammunition, upgrades or a weapon. The exact reward depends on the location; no universal reward table is established.
Location-specific number codes
For one safe, the GameSpew walkthrough says a photograph reveals the code 1952. It also reports an optional cabinet code of 1923, inferred from two numbers printed on figures’ jackets. These numbers belong to those reported locations. They are not a master code for every safe or cabinet in the game.

If a code fails, verify that you are at the same optional container and that you have read both parts of the clue.
Classic lock-picking mechanisms
The developer preview confirms that Hellraiser: Revival includes traditional lock-picking interactions in addition to safes. Approach these as mechanical alignment tasks. Look for the feedback the lock provides, make controlled adjustments, and avoid assuming that a nearby symbol is a numerical combination. The preview does not specify one universal sequence for all lock-picking encounters.

Color-matched fuse box
The walkthrough gives an example in which cables on a fuse box must be connected by color. This is a direct matching task.

- Inspect every cable and socket so you know the available colors before connecting anything.
- Pair each cable with the socket of the same color.
- Confirm that no cable is left unmatched and that the box responds after the final connection.
Color is the supported clue in this example. Do not infer an additional symbol code unless the particular panel displays one.

Wind-up box with a drawer
Another reported interaction involves turning a small box over, winding a handle on its rear, and retrieving an item from a drawer. The sequence matters because the handle is on the back and the reward is concealed in the drawer.
- Rotate the box and inspect all sides.
- Wind the rear handle.
- Return to the drawer and open it to collect the item.
This is an observation-and-manipulation challenge rather than a cipher. Similar objects may reward a full inspection even when no obvious puzzle interface appears.

1. Read before interacting
Inspect desks, walls, plaques, photographs, papers, statues and nearby mechanisms before activating the puzzle. The safe diagram, bell plaque, picture reference and photograph code all depend on local evidence.
2. Record the relationship, not just the clue
Ask what the clue controls. A photo may provide digits; a relief may specify a box shape; a paper may define an image; a plaque may define order. Knowing the relationship prevents entering a valid-looking answer into the wrong mechanism.

Try turning around, changing a corridor, matching colors or aligning a visible image before spending resources or abandoning the area. Environmental puzzles often resolve through movement rather than an item.

4. Recheck orientation and viewpoint
Picture pieces, blocks and shape keys can look correct from one angle and wrong from the intended interaction view. Compare edges, silhouettes and the whole composition.
5. Allow for alternate solutions
The developer has indicated that some puzzles may permit multiple solutions, without publishing all alternatives in the preview. If a route or arrangement works and the game advances, do not assume a walkthrough’s single sequence is the only valid one.
Demo, release and scope notes
The Steam demo introduces the Genesis Configuration and basic puzzle solving. Its store listing distinguishes that introduction from the more complex puzzle solving in the full game, so a demo player should not expect every puzzle family or late-game symbol to appear there.
