There are eight sidearms to collect in Mortal Shell II, and the set is tied to the “Guns. Lots of Guns” trophy or achievement. None is reported as missable before New Game+: you can return to free roam after the final boss to collect anything you missed. The routes below follow a practical progression order, not a guaranteed path through the game’s open world.

Before you start: what counts and what can wait

PowerPyx’s August 17, 2026 guide lists eight obtainable sidearms and says collecting them all is required for the “Guns. Lots of Guns” trophy or achievement. Its guide also says you can finish the main story, then return to free roam and collect missing sidearms before choosing New Game+ (PowerPyx’s weapon locations guide).

Merrick in Marrow Keep sells maps that mark approximate overworld locations. The maps are optional; they do not replace the dungeon and encounter directions below. Since Mortal Shell II has an interconnected world, the numbered order here is for convenience rather than a fixed route (Steam’s game listing).

Sidearms in the prologue and early exploration

1. Starting prologue sidearm

You receive the starting sidearm during the prologue. Its name is inconsistent in the consulted guides: PowerPyx spells it “Nayleshotte,” while GameSpot spells it “Naylshotte.” Check the name shown in your inventory rather than relying on either guide’s spelling (GameSpot’s weapons and gear guide).

#1 Best Overall
Mortal Shell II - PlayStation 5
  • THEIR FLESH IS YOUR WEAPON: The corpses of exceptional warriors are scattered throughout Mortal Shell 2’s destroyed world. Once discovered, each warrior can be possessed, awakening their innate strengths and mastered abilities. Evolve your own style of combat by harnessing the unique abilities of each warrior and unlock their secrets through the discovery of lost memories.
  • CLEANSE A RAVAGED WORLD: Mortal Shell 2’s compact open world connects over winding footpaths guarded by desperate and fanatical adversaries. Players who wander are rewarded with new warriors to possess, additional story elements, powerful and strange weaponry, upgrades, curiosities and more. Step through derelict temples of ancient deities, across forbidden forests and icy graves, into citadels carved out of bone. Scattered between these lost landmarks are more than 60 dungeons, each providing a challenging test of the talents and weaponry you have collected on your journey.
  • DETHRONE FALSE GODS: You control the Harbinger, a being that must reclaim the Undermether’s stolen eggs that are now ruthlessly guarded by grotesque, dangerous creatures. Mortal Shell 2’s combat system is agile and expressive. Stamina gauges are removed, and execution options have been enhanced, delivering a kinetic and chaotic dark power fantasy. Precision meets intensity in high-stakes combat.

2. Forgotten Crossbow — Flooded Village

  1. Travel to the Flooded Village dungeon northwest of the Blackridge Pass beacon.
  2. Use the arc to open the boarded doorway, then continue through the underground village.
  3. After the second elevator, take the Damp Key from a box beside a house.
  4. Use the key on the central building and pick up the Forgotten Crossbow from the table inside.

These directions follow PowerPyx’s route listing (PowerPyx’s weapon locations guide).

Sidearms in the middle of the journey

3. Salvaged Trebuchaxe — Ravaged Hideout

Find the Ravaged Hideout south of the Gloomshade Grove beacon. Defeat the nearby Bloodcursed Lithopod to gain access, then follow the dungeon to its final room. The Salvaged Trebuchaxe is on a body there. GameSpot also places this sidearm in the hideout after the boss encounter (GameSpot’s weapons and gear guide).

4. Troubadour’s Lute — One Legged Wolf Tavern

Go to the One Legged Wolf Tavern, southeast of the One Legged Wolf beacon. The Lute is on the stage. GameSpot’s route notes that reaching the tavern from the Mushroom Village area involves clearing enough Ova-related corruption; use that access clue if the direct approach is blocked (GameSpot’s weapons and gear guide).

5. Triarch Repeater — Blackwell Cavern

From Castigator’s Keep, descend to the lower area and take the northward route toward the cavern near the cliff edge. The Triarch Repeater lies on the ground in the first lit area partway through the dungeon. GameSpot describes reaching the cave from the beacon by a cliffside path and wooden lift (PowerPyx’s weapon locations guide; GameSpot’s weapons and gear guide).

Sidearms behind major encounters and hazards

6. Ballistazooka — Sentry’s Grave

From Gate of Mammon, follow the stairs and building route into Sentry’s Grave, inside Lonesome Spire. Defeat the Subjugated Guardian at the end. The Ballistazooka is awarded automatically, so there is no separate pickup to find (PowerPyx’s weapon locations guide).

7. Cursed Child — Revered Beacon dungeon

From Sester’s Gate, reach the ledge near the rolling enemy and enter the Revered Beacon dungeon. Move around the area to reach the tower, then attack its central pillar to stop the damaging light. Once the light is disabled, collect the Cursed Child. GameSpot also describes a route through the lower abbey and warns that the light damages you when it sees you (PowerPyx’s weapon locations guide; GameSpot’s weapons and gear guide).

8. Caged Hystrix — Chamber of Becoming

  1. Travel southeast from the Silent Steps beacon to Sariel’s arena.
  2. After the first fight, follow Sariel into the Chamber of Becoming and defeat him again.
  3. In the final room, break all four tombstones to prevent Sariel’s revival.
  4. Collect the Caged Hystrix near the dungeon exit.

PowerPyx and GameSpot both place the sidearm near the exit after the Sariel encounter and memory sequence (PowerPyx’s weapon locations guide; GameSpot’s weapons and gear guide).

What to do if a sidearm is missing

Use the list above to identify its location and return after the final boss if necessary; the guides say sidearm collection remains possible in post-game free roam before New Game+. If you are unsure which map marker to follow, Merrick’s maps in Marrow Keep can point to approximate overworld locations. The official game site describes sidearms as part of its combat choices and upgrade options, but the location guides do not provide a consistent verified comparison of damage stats, so this list focuses on acquisition rather than ranking the weapons (Mortal Shell II official site).
