Verdict: The Alienware AW3226Q is one of the strongest value-focused 32-inch 4K OLED monitors available in the US at $699.99. Its flat 31.5-inch panel combines a sharp 3840×2160 resolution, 165Hz refresh rate, excellent HDR contrast, Dolby Vision and unusually broad connectivity. The main compromises are a lower refresh rate than 240Hz competitors and limited gamma-adjustment options.
What the AW3226Q is
The AW3226Q uses a 31.5-inch (marketed as 32-inch) 16:9 Tandem RGB Stripe OLED panel. It runs at 3840×2160 and 165Hz, with a quoted 0.03ms GTG response time in Dell’s Extreme mode. Variable-refresh support includes AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and G-SYNC Compatible operation.
The RGB stripe subpixel layout and flat screen are significant for desktop use. At this size, 4K provides 138 pixels per inch, so text and fine interface details look exceptionally sharp. A flat surface also avoids the viewing-angle geometry and reflections that some users find distracting on curved OLEDs. The AW3226Q is therefore suited to a desk shared between gaming, documents and creative applications, not just a dedicated gaming setup.
Image quality and HDR performance
Tom’s Hardware measured approximately 275 nits across a full white screen at its test setting and about 1,000 nits on a 3% HDR window. Those results, together with OLED’s per-pixel black level, produce bright highlights and strong contrast in HDR games and films. The display carries DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification and supports HDR10 and Dolby Vision.

Color coverage is equally strong: testing reached 101% of the DCI-P3 color gamut by volume, while the panel supports 10-bit color. Tom’s Hardware found accurate color both before and after calibration, along with very sharp detail. Dolby Vision support is a useful differentiator for compatible video content, although game and operating-system support varies by title and platform.
The gamma limitation
The principal image-quality caveat is gamma. Out-of-box gamma is relatively light, and the monitor does not provide the practical range of gamma controls found on some competing displays. Calibration can improve accuracy, but users who want to tune midtone brightness precisely may find the on-screen controls restrictive.

Gaming performance: smooth, but not a 240Hz specialist
At 165Hz, motion is smooth for single-player games, action titles and general PC use. The tested input lag was very low; Tom’s Hardware found it low enough to outperform one more expensive 240Hz monitor in its comparison. The 0.03ms response specification also reflects OLED’s ability to change pixels quickly without the conventional LCD ghosting associated with slower transitions.

Competitive esports players who deliberately target the highest possible frame rate should still consider a 240Hz 4K OLED. Reaching 240 frames per second at 4K requires substantially more graphics performance, however, so the AW3226Q’s 165Hz ceiling is a sensible balance for most systems and console-focused setups. It also avoids paying for refresh headroom that a graphics card may rarely use.

Ports, stand and everyday ergonomics
The connection panel is unusually complete for a monitor in this price class:

How it compares with 240Hz 4K OLED monitors
The central decision is whether 165Hz is enough for your games. A 240Hz model can display 75 more frames per second and is the better fit for high-level competitive play when the PC can sustain those frame rates. The AW3226Q counters with a lower direct price, Dolby Vision, a flat RGB-stripe panel, strong measured HDR and extensive ports.
Panel shape also matters. Curved QD-OLED models can feel immersive for games, while the AW3226Q’s flat geometry is easier to align with straight-edged windows and multi-monitor layouts. The RGB stripe structure is designed with text clarity in mind; buyers who are especially sensitive to color fringing may prefer it over older or differently arranged OLED subpixels, though perceived results depend on operating-system scaling and viewing distance.

Before choosing, check four practical differences between models: maximum refresh rate, HDR brightness behavior on large bright scenes, available gamma and calibration controls, and the included stand. Port bandwidth and burn-in coverage can change the long-term value as much as a small refresh-rate advantage.
Price, warranty and value
The monitor launched at $699 and Dell’s current US catalog lists it at $699.99, keeping the AW3226Q in an unusually aggressive position for a 32-inch 4K OLED. Tom’s Hardware’s assessment was that it delivers a bright, colorful and razor-sharp image aside from the gamma-adjustment limitation, with premium build quality and good value.
A three-year OLED pixel burn-in warranty was reported in the launch coverage. Confirm the terms for your region and the exact purchase channel, since warranty coverage and service procedures can vary by market.
