To hard reset an Alcatel One Touch flip phone, first identify its exact model: the Smartflip 4052R and MyFlip A405DL use different reset procedures. A factory reset erases data, so back up anything you can still access and try a restart first. The steps below cover those two models and the Alcatel Go Flip 4044; do not assume one key combination works on every Alcatel flip phone.
Identify your Alcatel flip phone before resetting it
Check the model number on the phone’s label or original box. If the phone starts and you can navigate its menus, look for an About or device-information screen in Settings. The procedures below are model-specific: the AT&T Smartflip 4052R uses a KaiOS Recovery sequence, while the MyFlip A405DL manual describes a startup menu with language selection. If your model is not listed, use its own manual or carrier support instructions rather than trying another model’s button sequence.
Try a restart before a factory reset
A restart or power cycle is not a factory reset and does not erase the phone’s saved data. If the phone is still navigable, restart or power-cycle it before using the data-erasing procedure. For an unresponsive AT&T Smartflip 4052R, AT&T documents a forced restart by holding the Power/Back/Hang Up key for 10 seconds; this is not a factory reset. On the MyFlip A405DL, the manual says to hold Power for more than eight seconds to attempt a restart.
Back up data you want to keep
Factory reset erases personal data and settings saved on the phone. Copy or otherwise back up any information you can still access before proceeding. AT&T warns that the Smartflip reset permanently erases personal data, preferences, settings, and content saved on the phone. The MyFlip manual likewise warns that personal settings and saved data will be erased.

Reset an AT&T Alcatel Smartflip 4052R
If you can use the Settings menu
- From the home screen, press OK to open the apps tray.
- Select Settings, then move to the Device tab.
- Select Device Information, then choose Factory Reset.
- Confirm by selecting Reset.
AT&T says this restores the phone to factory settings and permanently erases personal data, preferences, settings, and content saved on the device. See AT&T’s Smartflip 4052R reset instructions.
If you cannot use the menu
- Switch the phone off.
- Hold Power/Back/Hang Up and Volume Up together for about five seconds, until KaiOS Recovery appears.
- Use Volume Down to highlight Wipe data/factory reset, then press Power/Back/Hang Up to select it.
- Select Yes and confirm.
- When the recovery screen returns, select Reboot system now and confirm.
These recovery steps are documented for the AT&T Smartflip 4052R specifically; do not assume they apply to other Alcatel models.

Reset an Alcatel MyFlip A405DL that will not start
- Hold Power and Volume Up together until the startup screen appears.
- In the menus that follow, briefly press Power to select the language.
- Select Factory reset and confirm as prompted.
The MyFlip A405DL manual says this operation erases personal settings and saved data. Its startup-menu route differs from the Smartflip 4052R recovery sequence. Consult the Alcatel MYFLIP A405DL User Manual if you need the model’s full instructions.
Alcatel Go Flip 4044: use its own reset instructions
A manual mirror for the Go Flip 4044 lists Settings > Device > Device information > Reset Phone as its factory-default path. Because this is secondary-source documentation, verify the labels against the exact handset’s manual or carrier support page before resetting. Do not substitute the 4052R or A405DL procedure.
