These are the capabilities stated on Akizip’s Flathub listing. The repository discusses wider format support available through 7-Zip, but that does not establish that every format is writable through every Akizip build. If you need to create or modify an archive in a format outside the first row, check the app’s current listing and behavior rather than assuming the engine’s full capabilities are exposed.
How to install Akizip

Its listed changes included support for selecting multiple items, fixes for move operations (including moving files into the current directory), a warning when creating an archive whose name starts with a dot, and a restriction on .. in move destination paths. These are listing details at that time, not a guarantee about later releases.

Flathub also displayed 3,809 downloads per month when accessed on October 7, 2026. The page does not state how that figure is measured; it should not be treated as a verified count of individual users or as a lasting popularity measure.
What to know about source builds and sandboxing
Akizip’s repository describes the Flatpak as sandboxed by default with minimal permissions. That is a description of its packaging setup, not an independent security audit or a guarantee that every use is risk-free.

The upstream README lists Meson, Ninja, GTK 4 development headers, libadwaita development headers, PyGObject, and gettext as source-build requirements. It also documents a path caveat: the configured executable location is /app/bin/7zz, which exists inside the Flatpak sandbox. Running the app on the host outside that environment requires a 7zz binary at that path or a change to the configured constant. Akizip is a relevant option if you want a GNOME-oriented graphical workflow for inspecting archives and creating or extracting 7z, ZIP, or TAR files. Its listed support for opening RAR and several compressed formats is useful when you need to inspect or extract from them, but Flathub labels those formats read-only.
