For most households, the right Airtel plan depends on whether you value lower monthly cost, 100 Mbps speed or bundled entertainment. Airtel’s current national broadband ladder runs from ₹499 + GST for up to 40 Mbps to ₹999 + GST for up to 100 Mbps with the richest displayed streaming benefits. Every advertised tier includes unlimited data and voice, but the final price, benefits, installation offer and availability must be confirmed with your installation pincode at checkout.

Which Airtel broadband plan is best?
Best for the lowest monthly rental: ₹499
Airtel describes the ₹499 fiber plan as unlimited data at up to 40 Mbps. That is enough for browsing, remote meetings, several ordinary video streams and connected-home use when the household does not need the extra speed or paid entertainment subscriptions. Google One and Adobe Express are the displayed benefits.

Best 40 Mbps entertainment option: ₹699
The ₹699 tier keeps the advertised speed at up to 40 Mbps but adds the displayed TV-channel allowance and entertainment services, including JioHotstar, ZEE5 Premium and Airtel Xstream. Choose it when those subscriptions and channels have more value to your household than a jump to 100 Mbps.
Best speed upgrade: ₹799
For an extra step in rental, the ₹799 plan advertises up to 100 Mbps while retaining unlimited data and voice. It is the straightforward choice for larger households, frequent large downloads, higher-quality streaming or several simultaneous users who do not need a large OTT bundle.
Best 100 Mbps plan with TV and OTT: ₹899
The ₹899 option combines the up-to-100-Mbps tier with the displayed ₹350-worth TV channels and OTT bundle. Compare the services you would otherwise pay for separately before choosing it over ₹799.

Best for the broadest displayed streaming mix: ₹999
The ₹999 card is also advertised at up to 100 Mbps, but its displayed benefits include Netflix Basic, Apple TV, Google One and JioHotstar Super, plus additional services. It makes sense only when the included subscriptions match your viewing habits; the higher rental does not buy a higher advertised speed than ₹799 or ₹899.
What speeds should you expect?
Airtel’s published 2025 quality-of-service material lists 40 Mbps as the offered typical speed for the ₹499 tariff and 100 Mbps for the ₹799 tariff. These are operator-reported offered or measurement fields, not a promise that every device in every room will measure that throughput. Wi-Fi distance, walls, interference, device capability and wired-versus-wireless testing all affect the result.
Airtel also describes Nokia FastMile 5G fixed-wireless outdoor gateways and Wi-Fi 6 access points for locations where fiber deployment is difficult. That does not mean every address receives fixed wireless: your pincode check determines the technology and plans available.

Are Airtel plans really unlimited?
All five national cards display unlimited data and unlimited voice. Treat that as the advertised allowance for the selected plan, then read the checkout terms for your address. Airtel’s national widget adds GST at checkout, and local pages can show a different lineup or benefit set. A pincode confirmation is therefore essential before relying on a particular “unlimited” offer or OTT inclusion.

Do not assume that every plan includes free equipment and installation under every payment option. Airtel’s ₹499 information says free router and installation apply on six- and 12-month plans. The dedicated ₹799 flow ties router and installation benefits to qualifying advance-rental terms. The exact duration, deposit, one-time charges and equipment supplied should be confirmed during ordering.
How to check availability and order
- Open Airtel’s broadband plan selector and enter the complete installation address and pincode.
- Compare the plans displayed for that location, including the rental after GST, speed, data and voice terms, channels and OTT services.
- Open the detailed ₹499 or ₹799 purchase flow if you are considering either tier; those flows request contact details, address and pincode and arrange an Airtel callback.
- Review the advance-rental condition for router and installation, along with any one-time or refundable charges, before submitting the order.
- Keep the confirmation showing the selected plan and included benefits. Check that the installed connection and customer account match it.
TRAI’s tariff lookup also requires selecting a state or service area, so a national card should not be treated as proof that the same offer is sold everywhere.

Comparing OTT bundles without overpaying
Compare the subscriptions you actually use, not the number of logos on a card. Airtel Xstream Premium separately advertises 24 OTT services for ₹279 per month and 18 services for ₹99 per month; eligibility requires an active Airtel prepaid, postpaid, DTH or broadband connection. The Xstream page does not establish that every listed service is included with every broadband tier, so verify the entitlement attached to your chosen plan.
- Choose ₹499 or ₹799 when speed and connectivity matter more than bundled content.
- Choose ₹699 or ₹899 when the displayed TV-channel allowance and entertainment services replace subscriptions you would otherwise buy.
- Choose ₹999 only after checking that Netflix Basic, Apple TV, JioHotstar Super and the other displayed services are available in your location and useful to your household.
Wi-Fi coverage and replacing the supplied router
A wired connection can reach the advertised line speed while a distant wireless device cannot. First place Airtel’s router in an open, central position and test near the router over a wired connection if possible. For a large or multi-floor home, an optional Wi-Fi 6 router or mesh system may improve coverage.

Common pitfalls
- Comparing pre-tax rentals: every headline price is shown with “+ GST”; use the checkout total for budgeting.
- Assuming national availability: enter the installation pincode because local pages can change the plan lineup and benefits.
- Reading “up to” as a guaranteed room-by-room speed: separate the tariff’s offered speed from the throughput measured on Wi-Fi.
- Assuming free installation: verify the required six- or 12-month, or other qualifying, advance-rental term.
- Counting every OTT logo as included: check the entitlement attached to your exact plan rather than the separate Xstream catalogue.
