No. Apple says AirPods Pro are not designed for showering and advises against placing them under running water, including a shower or faucet. Their water-resistance rating is model-specific, does not make them waterproof, and does not override that guidance.
Why water resistance does not make showering safe
Apple’s support guidance says AirPods Pro are not designed for use in water sports such as swimming or for showering. It also warns: “Don’t place your AirPods under running water, such as a shower or faucet.” The ratings below describe specific models; they are not permission to wear them in the shower. Apple’s water- and sweat-resistance guidance also says resistance is not permanent and can diminish with ordinary wear.
AirPods Pro water-resistance ratings by model
Apple lists the following ratings under IEC standard 60529. The charging-case version matters, especially for AirPods Pro 2.

These are Apple-published ratings in its current support guidance accessed in 2026. A rating does not guarantee that an individual pair will survive liquid exposure, and Apple says water resistance cannot be rechecked or resealed. See Apple’s model-specific qualifications and care instructions.

What to do if AirPods Pro get wet
- Wipe them gently. Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Do not rinse them under a tap.
- Let them dry fully. Wait at least two hours before using them or placing them in the charging case.
- Avoid forced drying. Apple says not to use heat or compressed air.
- Keep personal-care products away. Soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, perfume, solvents, detergent, acids or acidic foods, insect repellent, sunscreen, oil, and hair dye can affect water seals and acoustic membranes.
If a liquid that can irritate your skin gets on the AirPods, follow Apple’s separate AirPods Pro cleaning instructions.
Will a particular shower exposure damage them?
Apple does not quantify the chance of damage from a particular shower exposure or guarantee that a pair will remain undamaged. The practical guidance is therefore to keep AirPods Pro out of the shower rather than rely on the rating or assume a brief exposure is harmless.
