There isn’t enough verified information to name five air purifiers currently sold in India for under ₹10,000. Of the three documented models below, only Honeywell’s Air Touch V1 has a manufacturer-listed price below the cap, and that listing showed it as sold out. Its price and availability—and whether the other two models fit the budget—need to be checked before purchase. Use the specifications as a shortlist for comparison, not as a current ranked top five.
What AQI tells you—and what a home purifier cannot do
The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) describes India’s National Air Quality Index (AQI) as a public communication tool based on pollutant measurements. Its categories are: 0–50 Good, with minimal impact; 51–100 Satisfactory, with minor breathing discomfort for sensitive people; 101–200 Moderate, with breathing discomfort possible for people with lung disease, asthma or heart disease; 201–300 Poor, with discomfort possible for most people after prolonged exposure; 301–400 Very Poor, with respiratory illness possible after prolonged exposure; and 401–500 Severe, with effects possible even in healthy people and serious impacts for people with existing disease. Readings can vary by location, so a citywide average does not describe every neighborhood. A purifier’s in-room sensor, if present, is also not the same measurement as an outdoor monitoring station or a city’s AQI. A household purifier can clean air in a room; it does not improve outdoor or citywide AQI.
How to choose a purifier for your room
Compare capacity and ownership requirements rather than choosing by the number of filtration stages or app features. Manufacturers’ room-coverage figures are not directly interchangeable: check the stated area and the basis for it, then compare it with the room where the unit will operate.

- CADR and room size: Compare the clean air delivery rate (CADR) with the room’s area and how quickly you need the air cleaned. A larger CADR can be useful when faster cleaning is a priority, but it is not, by itself, proof of real-world results in every room.
- Filtration details: Check which filters are specified and whether the manufacturer names a grade. Do not assume that similar-sounding stage counts mean equivalent filtration.
- Replacement filters: Confirm that the exact model’s compatible filter is available to buy. Check its recurring cost and follow the manufacturer’s cleaning and replacement directions rather than assuming one interval applies to every purifier.
- Everyday operation: Consider stated noise, power use, and how many hours a day you expect to run the unit.
- Purchase support: Verify current stock, price, warranty, service coverage, and filter availability for the precise model and seller.
Three documented models to compare—not a verified top five
The following specifications come from manufacturer pages reviewed in 2026. They are manufacturer claims, not independent performance-test results. Prices and availability are not established for every model, so check them with the seller before treating any option as under ₹10,000.

The V1 is the only model in this comparison with a manufacturer-listed sub-₹10,000 price, but its sold-out listing makes that insufficient to confirm a current purchase. The Xiaomi and Philips figures can help you compare stated capacity, but their fit under the budget remains unverified. The listed coverage figures use different units, and Philips explicitly identifies a standard behind its suitable-area claim; do not treat the numbers as a like-for-like room test.

Health and safety: use a purifier as one part of exposure management
The Ministry of Health advisory says to follow the manufacturer’s instructions, seek expert advice if needed on suitability, placement, technology and cleaning capacity, and clean or replace filters as directed. It specifically advises: “Avoid using an air purifier that works by generating ozone, as it increases pollution inside rooms.” Read the Ministry of Health air-pollution advisory.

The advisory urges people with chronic pulmonary or cardiovascular conditions to take extra care to avoid exposure and follow their doctor’s instructions. It also says a properly fitted disposable N95 or N99 may help for short exposure when used according to instructions; paper masks, handkerchiefs, scarves and cloth are not effective.

- Check the seller’s live listing for the exact model, current price, stock and warranty terms.
- Match the stated room suitability and CADR to the room where you will use the purifier.
- Search for a replacement filter by exact model compatibility, and confirm that it is available at a price you can sustain.
- Review the manufacturer’s cleaning and replacement instructions, as well as noise and power details relevant to your planned operating hours.
- Use official local AQI readings for outdoor conditions; do not treat a purifier’s in-room reading as a substitute for them.
