The Aiper Scuba V3 is a cordless in-ground pool robot that cleans the floor, walls, and waterline, with vision-guided debris targeting and fine filtration as its main selling points. Independent reviewers reported effective pickup, including a 96% synthetic-debris cleanliness result in WIRED’s test, but its roughly three-hour cleaning window, five-hour recharge, waterline retrieval wait, and premium positioning are meaningful trade-offs. It is best suited to owners who value targeted cleaning and can work around those limits—not anyone expecting surface skimming or uninterrupted all-day operation.

What the Aiper Scuba V3 does

The Scuba V3 is a cordless robotic cleaner for in-ground pools. Aiper says it cleans the pool floor, walls, and waterline; its EU listing specifies pools up to 150 m² and compatibility with concrete, fiberglass, vinyl, and tile. That coverage and surface compatibility are manufacturer specifications, so confirm the regional product details and your pool’s geometry before buying. Aiper’s EU product listing

Unlike a surface skimmer, the V3 works underwater. Bob Vila’s reviewer lists the lack of surface skimming as a drawback, so leaves floating on the water will still need a separate solution. Bob Vila’s review

Does its AI-guided cleaning actually help?

Aiper advertises AI Patrol, Cognitive AI Navium, VisionPath adaptive path planning, and JetAssist horizontal waterline cleaning. The company also lists dual brushes and maximum suction/flow of 4,800 GPH. These are product claims, not proof that every pool will be cleaned more thoroughly or quickly than with another robot. • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

There is some encouraging independent evidence for debris targeting. In a month-long test in a screened-in Florida pool, Bob Vila’s Paul Rankin reported that the robot identified visible debris and navigated toward it, with strong results on algae and fine debris. WIRED’s Chris Null said it found small pebbles placed in the pool. Those are individual reviewers’ observations, not controlled comparisons across cleaners or a guarantee for every pool. Bob Vila · WIRED

How well does it clean?

WIRED reported a 96% cleanliness rating on synthetic debris in its test. In test runs lasting 170–190 minutes, Null said the robot cleared visible organic debris, though a few leaves remained in difficult corners. He also observed it scrubbing the walls and waterline during those runs. This is one reviewer’s result under that reviewer’s conditions, not an independent certification or a promised outcome for other pools. WIRED’s review

Rankin’s separate month-long test found strong targeting and pickup of fine debris and algae in his Florida pool. The two reviews point to capable debris collection, but neither establishes how consistently the V3 performs across pool shapes, debris loads, or multiple units. Bob Vila’s review

Runtime, charging, and cleaning modes

Aiper’s EU listing gives maximum runtimes of 180 minutes in standard mode and 210 minutes in ECO, with a five-hour charge time. WIRED reported a 10,400 mAh battery and test runs of 170–190 minutes. Actual operating time can vary with conditions and mode; treat the maker’s runtime figures as maximums, not a guarantee that a full-size or heavily soiled pool will be finished on one charge. The EU listing names floor, wall, waterline, auto, scheduled, AI Patrol, AI Navium, and ECO modes. WIRED found AI scheduling did not work properly in its test, and reported that on-demand modes ran until the battery was nearly depleted, without a separate runtime adjustment. Scheduling reliability is therefore a real consideration if you expect to set the robot and leave it to run on a routine. Available modes and controls may vary by region or software version; check the manual for your market. Aiper EU listing · WIRED

Waterline retrieval and day-to-day handling

When cleaning ends, the V3’s waterline return can make retrieval easier, but it is not an instant pickup cue. WIRED says it waits about 10 minutes at the waterline before sinking again, so you need to retrieve it during that window. Bob Vila likewise found the retrieval approach helpful because the robot sheds some water weight first. The practical benefit depends on being nearby when the cycle finishes. WIRED · Bob Vila

Filtration, basket capacity, and upkeep

Aiper specifies a replaceable 3 μm MicroMesh layer and a 3.5 L top-load debris basket on its EU listing. The fine mesh is intended to capture small particles, while the basket provides capacity for collected debris; neither specification alone establishes how often you will need to empty or replace parts in your pool. WIRED reports that Aiper recommends replacing the removable ultrafine mesh after every 30 runs. That recommendation makes replacement filters a recurring maintenance cost to check before purchase. The exact compatible U.S. replacement SKU and its current price are not established here, so verify compatibility and availability with Aiper for your region. WIRED

Pool fit and conditions to verify

Aiper’s EU listing gives a maximum pool size of 150 m² and working conditions of 10–40°C water temperature, 0.3–3 m depth, pH 7.0–7.8, and chlorine below 4 ppm. These are regional manufacturer specifications; do not assume they apply unchanged to a U.S. or other market. Consult the manual and warranty that apply where you live. Aiper EU listing

  • Check that your pool’s surface and layout are within the compatibility guidance for your region.
  • Consider whether the manufacturer-listed coverage fits the pool’s area and shape, including corners where WIRED observed some leaves left behind.
  • Plan for a cleaning cycle of up to about three hours and a recharge listed at five hours.
  • Decide whether you can retrieve the robot during its reported waterline wait rather than expecting to collect it at any time.
  • Account for the lack of surface skimming and the ongoing cost of replacement mesh.

Privacy and price considerations

Aiper’s U.S. product page states that image storage and upload are zero. That is the manufacturer’s description; it is not an independent privacy audit. Review the applicable product documentation and app permissions if data handling is a deciding factor. Aiper U.S. product page

Both independent reviews characterize the V3 as a premium-priced cleaner, but current pricing varies and is not established by the evidence cited here. Who should buy the Aiper Scuba V3?

A good fit if

  • You want a cordless robot that handles the floor, walls, and waterline.
  • Targeted pickup and fine filtration matter more to you than surface skimming.
  • Your pool fits the applicable regional specifications, and a multi-hour cycle followed by a long recharge works for your routine.
  • You are willing to monitor the waterline return and verify replacement-filter costs.

Look elsewhere if

  • You need a cleaner that skims floating debris.
  • You want longer sessions, fast turnarounds between charges, or dependable unattended scheduling based on the available independent test evidence.
  • You cannot retrieve the robot within its reported waterline waiting period or want minimal post-cycle handling.

Overall, the Scuba V3’s strongest case is its combination of debris targeting, floor-to-waterline coverage, and fine filtration. The reviews suggest it can clean effectively, but the limited runtime, recharge wait, retrieval timing, scheduling concern, and upkeep make it a considered purchase rather than an uncomplicated recommendation.
