To upgrade Essence Extraction in Aion 2, reach Essence Extraction Mastery 50, unlock the Specialty Skill quest, and gather one Splendent Ruby. Elyos turn it in to Korius in Verteron; Asmodians turn it in to Alzirr in Altgard. The Ruby is reported to begin spawning only after the quest is unlocked, so accept the quest before searching.
What the upgrade requires
The Elyos and Asmodian quest records both list one Splendent Ruby as the objective and Essence Extraction Mastery 50 as the requirement. They separately display quest level 10 and recommended character level 45; those fields do not replace the Mastery requirement. Completing either faction’s quest awards Essence Extraction Upgrade: Professional as a guaranteed reward. The quest database pages identify their version as AION 2 Global 2.0.5.0 and were updated October 5, 2026. Elyos quest record · Asmodian quest record

Where Elyos can search
The Elyos quest record lists four Ruby areas: Ellun River Midstream, Verteron Fortress Ruins, Destroyed Abyss Gate, and Kraka Footpath. The quest record gives the broad area list.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Verteron Fortress Ruins: VGC suggests searching west of Zumion Village.
- South of Garden of the Illusion God Observatory: Destructoid suggests this as another area to check.
The two guides point to different Elyos sub-areas, so use them as route suggestions rather than guaranteed spawn coordinates. VGC’s guide was published October 5, 2026; Destructoid’s guide was published October 2 and updated October 4, 2026.

Where Asmodians can search
The Asmodian quest record lists Dredgion Crash Site, Calderon Canyon, Tranein Highland, Silent Hill, and Nameless Cemetery. See the Asmodian quest record for the full list.
- Near Quai Campsite: VGC recommends checking cliffs and rocks just north of the campsite.
- Calderon Canyon: Destructoid suggests cliffs in the western and southern parts of the canyon.
These tips narrow the search but do not establish a guaranteed node location. Start in a listed region and check the suggested terrain.

How to find and gather the Ruby
- Unlock the Specialty Skill quest. VGC reports that Splendent Ruby nodes start spawning only after the upgrade quest is unlocked.
- Turn on gem markers. In the Essence Extraction skill menu, enable gem markers if the option is available; VGC says this makes Ruby nodes easier to spot on the minimap.
- Search your faction’s listed regions. Check the locations above and inspect the suggested cliffs, ruins, or other terrain. Destructoid characterizes Splendent Ruby as a rare drop from Ruby veins.
- Gather until you have one Splendent Ruby, then return to the quest NPC. The guides do not establish a drop rate, number of attempts, or guaranteed node coordinates.
VGC reports that the item is account-bound. Its guide and Destructoid’s location guide describe where to look, but neither provides a verified drop-rate figure. VGC guide · Destructoid guide
