Automatic and manual foreground detection
You can import an image, select an available AI model, and click the yellow Start button to generate a matte. Published output formats are PNG and JPG. PNG supports 8-bit and 16-bit output and is the appropriate choice when the result must retain transparency. JPG does not preserve an alpha channel, so exporting a transparent cutout as JPG will produce a solid background rather than genuine transparency. How do you remove and replace a background in Aiarty?
The basic Aiarty Image Matting workflow is: import an image, choose a model, click Start, inspect and refine the mask, open Effect > Background, then export the result. The following steps use the labels documented in Aiarty’s current guide.
1. Install the application
- Download the Windows installer or macOS package from Aiarty.
- On Windows, run the
.exeinstaller. - On macOS, open the
.dmgfile and drag Aiarty Image Matting to Applications. - Accept the license agreement and launch the trial or activated application.
2. Import one image, several images, or a folder
Drag a single image, multiple images, or an entire folder into the interface. Confirm that the source files are supported before beginning a large job. Organizing source folders first makes it easier to locate exported files and compare revised masks with originals.
3. Run AI matting
- Select an image.
- Choose an available AI model.
- Click the yellow Start button.
- Wait for processing to finish before evaluating the edge.
The TensorRT option appears only when the computer meets the relevant NVIDIA requirements. If the option is unavailable, use the supported processing path offered by the application rather than assuming the installation is broken.
4. Check the mask before changing the background
Use the preview and mask or alpha views to inspect hair, fur, thin edges, holes, shadows, reflections, transparent areas, and any missing or retained background. Zoom in for edge work, but zoom back out afterward: an edge that looks clean at extreme magnification may appear unnaturally thin or haloed at the intended output size.
5. Refine missed or unwanted areas
Use the brush or other foreground-addition controls to recover missing subject areas. Use the eraser or related removal controls to clear background remnants. Make small strokes around difficult edges and reassess the whole subject after each correction. Manual refinement is especially important when the subject and background have similar colors or when shadows touch the object.
6. Replace the background
- Open the Effect panel.
- Select Background.
- Choose the color icon for a solid color or gradient.
- Choose the image icon, click Browse, and select a replacement image.
- Adjust the foreground position, scale, or angle.
A replacement image is not the same as generative background creation. Aiarty places the subject over a color, gradient, or image that you provide; the documented workflow does not establish text-prompt scenery generation or automatic reconstruction of missing surroundings.

7. Export the result
Click Single Export for one image. The guide says the export can include a mask image, the processed image with the applied effect, and an image with an alpha channel. Select PNG when you need transparency; select JPG only when a solid background is acceptable.

Output quality depends on source resolution, contrast, compression, lighting, subject complexity, and how much manual refinement is needed. The technical page uses slightly different storage wording in different hardware sections—“≥500GB” in one place and “512GB” in another—so it is safer not to treat either figure as a definitive application storage requirement without clarification from Aiarty. Storage speed and free space can still affect the practicality of large image jobs.
Aiarty’s published guide states a batch capacity of up to 3,000 images and a maximum image side length of 10,000 pixels. Those are vendor-published limits, not a promise that a typical laptop will process 3,000 large files quickly. Actual throughput depends on the CPU or GPU, VRAM, image dimensions, selected model, storage speed, thermal throttling, and applied effects.

Does Aiarty process images privately or completely offline?
Aiarty’s desktop format may suit users who prefer not to upload original images to a browser-based editor, but desktop installation does not prove that every part of the workflow is completely offline. The safest description is that Aiarty is a local-first alternative for image processing. Review the Aiarty privacy policy and the application’s current behavior if confidentiality is critical. Automatic extraction is only the first pass. The following practices reduce common compositing failures:
- Use the best source. Start with the highest-resolution, least-compressed image available. A small JPEG cannot provide edge information that the software never received.
- Inspect fine edges at full size. Hair, fur, mesh, lace, and transparent objects can look acceptable in a thumbnail but fail in a large listing image or advertisement.
- Test contrasting backgrounds. View the alpha result against both light and dark colors to reveal halos and leftover pixels.
- Separate subject from shadow decisions. A cast shadow may belong to the original scene rather than the subject. Keep it only when it makes sense in the replacement composition.
- Match the new scene manually. Adjust scale and position, then consider color temperature, lighting direction, perspective, depth of field, contact shadows, and reflections in a separate editor.
- Remember that RAW support is not RAW development. Aiarty can accept many RAW formats, but exposure, white balance, lens correction, and color decisions may still belong in a dedicated RAW workflow.
- Review overlaps and negative space. Check holes between limbs, handles, straps, foliage, and objects that touch each other.
Background replacement does not automatically create realistic lighting. A technically clean cutout can still look pasted into the new scene if the subject’s shadows, color, perspective, and scale do not agree with the replacement image.
