Google Slides with Gemini, PowerPoint with Copilot, and Claude Design all offer ways to create AI-assisted presentations, but their documented features do not establish a universal winner. The practical choice depends on where you work, whether you need to start from reference files or a template, and where you want to edit or export the finished deck.

These are product capabilities, not comparable quality scores. Google describes its workflow in its July 22, 2026 announcement and Slides help page. Microsoft details Copilot creation in its PowerPoint creation guide and Copilot FAQ. Anthropic describes Claude Design in its launch announcement and help page; its September 2026 update describes Claude Slides.
How to choose for your workflow
Choose Gemini if your work already lives in Google Slides
Gemini’s documented process combines optional reference files with a reviewable plan, then produces an editable presentation in Slides. That can suit work where you want to keep creation and follow-up editing in Google’s presentation environment. Confirm that your account has the feature before planning around it.
Choose Copilot if you need a PowerPoint-centered process
Copilot can build from a prompt or a presentation template, with an outline review step before slide generation. This path is most relevant when the intended deliverable is a PowerPoint file and your organization has enabled the needed features. Microsoft notes that availability can depend on the subscription and organization settings.

Choose Claude Design or Claude Slides when export flexibility matters
Claude Design supports several export formats, while Claude Slides is a dedicated deck-creation entry point. Decide where the deck must be edited before starting: Anthropic documents Google Slides export only through the standalone design experience at claude.ai/design, while Claude Slides exports to PowerPoint and PDF. Microsoft also documents Claude as a model option in some PowerPoint Copilot editing experiences; access is subject to commercial Copilot subscription, regional and subscription availability, and enterprise administrator settings. Check access before comparing results
A fair choice starts with the features your account can actually use. Check plan eligibility, region, language, device, and—if using a managed work account—administrator settings. Product availability changes over time, so consult the current official help pages rather than assuming a feature shown in an announcement is enabled for every account.

How to compare deck quality fairly
Official feature descriptions do not show which tool makes the most professional deck. To reach a defensible conclusion for your needs, run the tools under comparable conditions rather than treating a vendor description as a quality test.

- Use the same assignment. Give each tool the same prompt, design brief, requested deck length, and audience.
- Supply equivalent material. Provide the same source files and any template or style guidance each tool can accept. Note differences in how each workflow handles those inputs.
- Keep the number of runs consistent. Record how many generations you allow for each tool and whether you use its planning or outline review step.
- Set a review rubric before generation. Score factual accuracy, source traceability, structure, visual consistency, editability, and the manual cleanup needed. Treat subjective visual judgments as your preference, not an objective measurement.
- Record the setup. Note the date, plan tier, relevant feature availability, number of runs, and edits made. Otherwise, results may reflect different access or editing effort rather than the tools themselves.
Review the deck before presenting it
AI-generated slides still need human review. Microsoft explicitly advises reviewing and editing generated content; apply the same discipline to any tool. Check claims against the original material, verify figures and calculations, inspect chart labels and scales, and confirm that citations point to sources that support the statements. Also check for missing context, repeated points, awkward line breaks, and images that do not fit the subject.
