AI in logistics is not one system doing everything. These 10 deployments apply prediction, route planning, computer vision, and automated identification to specific bottlenecks—from warehouse picking and fleet mileage to railcar registration and demand forecasts. The reported outcomes vary in strength: some come from vendor case studies or deployment directories, not independent audits, so the source and scope matter as much as the percentage.
What are the 10 real AI deployments in logistics?
The examples below span warehouses, road distribution, rail terminals, and network planning. “Reported result” means the cited publisher’s claim, not an independently verified effect.

| DHL | Demand forecasting | 30–40% forecast-error reduction | AI for Supply Chain directory attribution; underlying cited report not reviewed |
How is AI used to plan warehouse and fleet routes?
FM Logistic and Google Cloud: constructing warehouse picking tours
In a Polish warehouse with more than 17,700 picking locations, FM Logistic and Google Cloud describe using an AlphaEvolve approach to generate routes through the facility. FM’s team evaluated generated algorithms against a representative set of 60 tours, described as more than an hour of workforce data. The process first filters route candidates quickly, then uses more precise distance simulation and flexible route construction. Google Cloud says the pilot is now running in production. The account does not state a measured productivity gain, so the deployment is evidence of production use, not a quantified improvement.

PepsiCo and Adiona: optimizing distribution plans
Adiona says its early deployment for PepsiCo reduced fleet distance travelled by 19%. The vendor describes ingesting data from SAP, EDI feeds, and CSV exports and generating route plans without replacing existing systems. It says plans could be produced within four to eight weeks of initial data handover. That time frame describes the case’s initial planning capability, not a guarantee for other organizations. Adiona also describes a subsequent program intended to test integration at PepsiCo scale, which is a different maturity step from the early deployment result.
#1 Best Overall

Rossmann and Graphmasters: planning from regional warehouse networks
A Straits Institute index entry dated June 16, 2025, says nearly every regional warehouse Rossmann operates in Germany adopted route-planning logistics built with Graphmasters on its Nunav platform. The index describes traffic data feeding real-time predictions and route forecasts for order volumes. This supports describing a broad reported deployment, but the index summary does not establish a quantified performance result.
UPS ORION: route optimization in delivery operations
The AI for Supply Chain directory lists UPS ORION as a route-optimization deployment and points to annual savings and route-mileage claims in other reporting. Because the underlying cited reports were not reviewed for this account, no specific savings or mileage figure is included. The example establishes route optimization as an operational use case, not the size of its effect.

How does AI affect warehouse productivity and safety?
CJ Logistics and OneTrack: connecting warehouse activity to operations data
OneTrack describes deploying its AiOn platform across CJ Logistics’ warehouse network. The vendor says the system connects operational data with evidence from computer-vision sensors, then surfaces information through dashboards and agents. Its case page reports the productivity and time-gap figures in the table across more than 40 warehouses. Those are OneTrack’s case-study claims; the page does not establish independent measurement or explain a common baseline across all sites.
ID Logistics and OneTrack: monitoring safety
OneTrack attributes the reported decline in safety incidents at ID Logistics to computer-vision-based operational visibility and coaching. The percentage is the vendor’s reported case outcome; it should not be treated as an independently audited causal estimate.

States Logistics and OneTrack: safety and incident investigation
OneTrack also reports fewer safety incidents and faster investigations at States Logistics. These are vendor case-study outcomes. They describe different measures—incident frequency and investigation time—and should not be combined into one general safety-effect claim.
Where does AI identify freight or forecast demand?
Terminal 6 in Santa Fe: reading railcar codes
The Straits Institute index says AllRead deep-learning software automatically reads railcar codes as wagons arrive at the grain terminal, replacing manual registration. The entry, dated May 8, 2025, places the system in the context of the terminal’s daily rail and cargo activity. This is a directory summary rather than a separately checked original account, so it does not support claims about recognition accuracy, processing speed, or labor savings.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
DHL: forecasting demand
The AI for Supply Chain directory lists a DHL deployment with the forecast-error reduction shown in the table. The underlying linked report was not reviewed, so the number remains a directory-attributed claim rather than a verified DHL result. Forecasting is distinct from route optimization: a forecast estimates future demand, while route planning decides how to serve it.
What do the empty-trip figures at PSA International establish?
The AI for Supply Chain directory reports that AI route optimization at PSA International’s Singapore ports reduced empty truck trips from about 35% to 17–18%. The original cited source was not reviewed, so this is a directory-reported figure, not an independently confirmed result. It illustrates a specific network-efficiency target—avoiding unproductive return or repositioning movements—but does not by itself establish the effect of the same method at other ports or fleets.
Best Value

What data infrastructure do logistics companies need for AI?
These cases suggest that integration and operational fit can matter as much as the model. Adiona’s PepsiCo account describes combining SAP data, EDI feeds, and CSV exports while leaving existing systems in place. FM Logistic’s account describes evaluating route algorithms against representative tours rather than relying only on a theoretical route calculation. OneTrack’s description combines operational records with computer-vision sensor evidence. Each is a different data problem; the examples do not establish that a single platform or data format is required.
Adiona CEO and co-founder Richard Savoie writes, “A logistics AI that can only work with clean, standardized, API-ready data from a single source is not a logistics AI that works in the real world.” This is a vendor’s perspective, but it highlights a practical deployment consideration: real operations often distribute relevant information across systems and formats.
How should logistics teams evaluate an AI deployment?
Headline percentages are not directly comparable when they measure different things, cover different sites, or come from different kinds of sources. Before treating a result as a business case, establish what was measured and how the system fits the operation.
- Name the bottleneck: distinguish forecasting, route planning, identification, safety monitoring, and productivity measurement. A result in one task does not prove value in another.
- Check the deployment stage: a pilot, an early rollout, and a multi-site production deployment answer different questions about scale and reliability.
- Understand the baseline: ask what period, sites, routes, workers, or shipments were included, and how the before-and-after comparison was calculated.
- Identify who reports the outcome: vendor case studies and deployment directories can identify promising examples, but they are not equivalent to an independent audit.
- Test integration against real operating data: identify source systems, formats, data gaps, update frequency, and how plans or alerts enter day-to-day workflows.
- Assign experienced operators to the pilot: Adiona’s Savoie advises, “Assign your best operators to the pilot, not your most available ones.” The point is that implementation depends on informed operational feedback, not just software configuration.
None of these individual deployments establishes a broadly applicable, independently verified statistic for the overall impact of AI across logistics. The useful comparison is by task, operating environment, deployment maturity, measurement method, integration burden, and publisher—not by ranking unlike percentages.
