Which Lithuanian unicorn does the headline most likely mean?
Vinted is the strongest fit in the available public evidence. The company says it began in Lithuania in 2008 as a way for friends to find new homes for unwanted clothes, is headquartered in Vilnius, and became Lithuania’s first unicorn in 2019. This is evidence of AI being used to support employee workflows—not evidence, by itself, of an AI product sold to marketplace users. Nor does the description provide measured productivity gains, cost savings, revenue effects, or other quantified outcomes. The distinction matters: a company can build internal AI capabilities without those capabilities being the cause of its growth.
What Vinted has disclosed about its data infrastructure
A Vinted Engineering post published on 24 April 2023 described the group engineering function as including data infrastructure, site reliability engineering, IT, engineering experience, and security and privacy teams. Its architecture snapshot named a redundant European data-centre setup, public-cloud services, Kubernetes compute, a Vitess database platform, observability tooling, and an in-house data warehouse then being migrated to a public-cloud dataverse solution.
