A newly circulating The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time glitch can make the Spirit Temple’s Twinrova return as an invisible, low-health opponent roughly seven minutes and 30 seconds after she appears to be defeated. Beating that rematch can produce another Heart Container, and the sequence may be repeated before Link leaves the arena.
The “28 years” framing refers to the game’s 1998 release and reports circulating in 2026. It should be understood as a rediscovery or renewed circulation, not proof that nobody had seen the behavior before: demonstrations of the same effect reportedly appeared in videos more than a decade ago.

What the Twinrova glitch actually does
The behavior is tied to the finishing blow in Twinrova’s Spirit Temple arena. If Link’s final sword slash connects while a fire or ice attack reflected by the Mirror Shield is still traveling toward Twinrova, the game can register the defeat while the reflected attack remains active.
Twinrova then disappears as though the fight has ended. Instead of leaving immediately, wait in the arena for approximately seven minutes and 30 seconds. A sound indicates that Twinrova has returned. This version is invisible and has low health, so it can be defeated quickly once you know where to attack.
#1 Best Overall
- This is the world edition. It has different packaging but is fully authentic and works on US region 3DS systems.
- The Legend of Zelda veterans can look forward to the Master Quest - a second quest with revamped puzzles and redesigned dungeons.
- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is a masterful improvement on one of the landmark releases in video game history.
- “E10+”, w/Animated Blood, Fantasy Violence, Suggestive Themes
A successful invisible rematch can create another Heart Container. The reported cycle can be repeated by waiting for another return before exiting the room, turning what should be a one-time reward into a potential Heart Container farming loop.
How to trigger the invisible rematch
- Reach Twinrova. The setup takes place in the Spirit Temple boss arena in Ocarina of Time.
- Reflect a fire or ice attack. Use the Mirror Shield to send Twinrova’s elemental attack back toward her.
- Time the final sword hit. Land the finishing sword slash while the reflected fire or ice projectile is still traveling from the shield to Twinrova. Reports also describe using a particularly strong attack, such as a charged shot reflected through the Mirror Shield, to produce the same timing condition.
- Stay in the room. After Twinrova vanishes, do not leave the arena. Wait about seven minutes and 30 seconds.
- Listen for the return cue. A sound signals that an invisible Twinrova has reappeared with low health.
- Defeat the invisible boss. Attack the position where the rematch is occurring. The low-health state means the second defeat should require far less work than the regular battle.
- Collect the reward and repeat if desired. Another Heart Container can appear. Remain in the arena if you want to test whether the return-and-reward cycle repeats on your version.
Why reports call it “two boss fights”
The evidence directly describes one ordinary Twinrova encounter followed by a second, invisible Twinrova encounter. It does not show two different named bosses being redesigned, and it does not establish that another boss elsewhere in the game has the same behavior.
That distinction matters. The glitch changes the practical outcome of the Twinrova battle by adding an unexpected rematch and reward, but “two major boss fights” is headline shorthand for two versions of the same boss encounter, not a confirmed overhaul of two separate bosses.
Why the discovery is news again after 28 years
Ocarina of Time launched in 1998, and its large glitch-hunting and speedrunning communities have examined the game for decades. The renewed attention is therefore notable, but the available reporting also points to older demonstrations. Zelda Universe notes that videos showing the behavior existed more than ten years ago, while 2026 coverage brought the trick back into wider circulation.
The more accurate description is “rediscovered” or “resurfaced after 28 years.” Calling it a first-ever discovery would overstate what the existing record supports.
Can this farm Heart Containers?
According to the reported behavior, yes, potentially. Each successful invisible Twinrova defeat can produce another Heart Container, and the cycle can be repeated before leaving the room. The practical value depends on whether your copy preserves the bug and whether you are willing to wait roughly seven and a half minutes for each return.
Rank #3
- Play the original Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
- Or the Master Quest edition with many bonus features
This is not a fast method: even a successful attempt has a long idle period, and the finishing-hit timing is demanding. Treat it as an exploit to test rather than a guaranteed replacement for the game’s normal Heart Container locations.

No complete compatibility table has been established by the reports describing this glitch. They do not settle whether the behavior works on every Nintendo 64 revision, regional release, re-release or emulated version.
| Factor | What is established | What still needs checking |
|---|---|---|
| Original Nintendo 64 hardware | The glitch is described in connection with the original game. | Specific regional cartridges and revision numbers are not identified. |
| Re-releases and emulation | Compatibility is not stated. | Whether a particular port, subscription release or emulator preserves the timing bug. |
| Finishing-hit precision | The sword strike must overlap the reflected elemental attack’s travel. | The most reliable timing and attack setup for each release. |
| Wait tolerance | The reported delay is approximately seven minutes and 30 seconds. | Whether timing varies by version or emulation speed. |
If you test it, record the game edition, region, platform and any emulator settings. Those details are essential for determining whether a failed attempt is a timing mistake or a version difference.
Common reasons the trick fails
- The sword hit lands too early or too late: Twinrova may die before the reflected projectile is still in flight, preventing the state that triggers the rematch.
- You leave the arena: The reported cycle requires waiting in the boss room after the apparent victory.
- You assume the return is visible: The rematch is described as invisible, so rely on the audio cue and attack the appropriate location rather than expecting a visible model.
- Your release changed the bug: A port, regional revision or emulator may not reproduce Nintendo 64 behavior. No universal compatibility claim has been established.
- You stop waiting too soon: The return is not immediate; the reported interval is about seven minutes and 30 seconds.
What this means for players
The glitch does not rewrite Twinrova’s mechanics permanently or prove that two separate bosses were changed. It exposes an unusual state in which the game accepts the defeat, removes the boss, then later spawns an invisible low-health rematch that can award another Heart Container. For players with a compatible copy, the key requirements are precise finishing-hit timing, patience in the arena and a willingness to verify the behavior on their specific version.
