The Kmart Anko 9L Twin Air Fryer AFD2906 earned a 67% Expert Rating in CHOICE’s 2023 test, with results that varied by food: roast pork and chicken wings cooked excellently, while frozen chips and crumbed chicken disappointed. CHOICE now lists the exact model as discontinued. Kmart’s current listing for a similarly named 9L Twin Air Fryer has different specifications and does not identify itself as the AFD2906, so it should not be treated as the same appliance.
How well did the AFD2906 cook?
CHOICE’s 2023 test gave the AFD2906 a 67% Expert Rating. In a media release updated 23 August 2023, CHOICE kitchen expert Fiona Mair described mixed results: roast pork and chicken wings cooked excellently, while frozen chips and crumbed chicken disappointed. Mair said CHOICE recommended considering other twin air fryers for people wanting to cook two different foods at once. This is CHOICE’s assessment, not a measure of overall consumer opinion.
CHOICE’s public product page does not disclose its detailed food-category results, so the overall rating should not be mistaken for a precise score for any one dish. The published results suggest the appliance may suit some meat dishes better than frozen or crumbed foods, but they do not establish how every recipe or batch will turn out.
What are the two pans and controls like?
The official AFD2906 manual describes two pans, a control panel, preset programs, and adjustable cooking time and temperature. CHOICE lists 9L as the appliance’s claimed capacity; that figure is not an independent measurement of usable cooking volume. The manual says not to put more than 2 kg of food in either basket.

The manual lists presets for chips, chops, prawns, baking, drumsticks, steaks, fish, pizza, bacon, heating, and defrost. For normal cooking, it describes temperature adjustment from 80°C to 200°C; defrost uses a lower range. Presets are starting points rather than guarantees: the manual notes that food quantity and size can require adjustments to time and temperature. It also recommends turning some ingredients and using smaller batches for smaller foods to encourage more even cooking.
The manual cautions against extremely greasy foods such as sausages. Its cooking times and quantities are guidance, not fixed results, and actual cooking depends on the food and batch.

Is the AFD2906 the same as Kmart’s current 9L twin air fryer?
CHOICE marks the exact AFD2906 as discontinued. Kmart Australia has a live page for a product called “9L Twin Air Fryer,” but that page does not identify the model as AFD2906. The listed specifications differ, and the available pages do not establish whether the current product is a later model, revision, or otherwise related appliance.

If you find an AFD2906 second-hand or through a remaining-stock seller, verify the model number on the appliance itself and confirm the seller’s condition, returns, and warranty terms. A similarly named 9L product is not enough to establish that it is the reviewed model.
What should you know before using or cleaning it?
Before the first cook
The manual says to remove all packaging, wipe the appliance body with a damp cloth, wash the accessories in soapy water, and dry everything. Do not immerse the main unit or fill the appliance with oil, frying fat, or another liquid.

During cooking
- Use a stable, dry, heat-resistant surface and follow the manual’s clearance guidance from walls and heat-sensitive materials.
- Keep the air inlet and outlet uncovered.
- Use the pan handles and oven mitts when handling hot parts. Steam may escape when you open a pan.
- If substantial smoke escapes, stop using the appliance and unplug it.
Cleaning and repairs
Unplug the unit and let it cool before cleaning. The manual says the pans and drip tray are dishwasher safe and recommends a non-abrasive sponge; check the manual supplied with your appliance if its accessories or manual version differ. Never immerse the appliance body. The manual says repairs should be carried out by a qualified electrical person and warns against replacing components with parts not designed specifically for the AFD2906.

CHOICE lists a one-year warranty for the AFD2906, and the official manual includes a 12-month warranty statement. The current Kmart listing’s warranty information belongs to the product on that page and does not verify coverage for an AFD2906. CHOICE says it did not check whether the AFD2906 is PFAS- or PTFE-free, so its coating should not be described as free of those substances.

Who might consider an AFD2906?
The AFD2906’s strongest published results were for roast pork and chicken wings, while its reported frozen-chip and crumbed-chicken results were disappointing. Whether that trade-off works for you depends on the foods you cook most often. Since CHOICE lists the model as discontinued, anyone considering a used or remaining-stock unit should verify the exact model and condition rather than assume a current 9L listing is equivalent.
For another twin air fryer, compare independent results across the foods you actually prepare, usable capacity rather than just claimed total capacity, counter dimensions, control flexibility when cooking two foods, cleaning requirements, warranty support, and confirmed availability. CHOICE’s 2023 advice also highlights counter space, capacity, controls, and energy efficiency as useful considerations.
