To get weather on a Samsung Galaxy phone, add the built-in Weather widget from the Home screen’s Widgets menu, then select the city or region you want it to show. For live weather based on where you are, turn on Location and allow the Weather app to use it; for a predictable display, choose a saved city instead.
Add the Weather widget to your Home screen
- Touch and hold an empty area of the Home screen.
- Tap Widgets.
- Find and select Weather.
- Choose a widget style, then tap Add.
- Select the city or region you want displayed.
Tap the widget to open the Weather experience. Samsung notes that screens and menu paths can vary by model and software version. See Samsung Gulf’s Weather widget instructions and Samsung India’s location guide.
Choose the location the widget shows
Use your current location
Current-location weather is convenient when you travel, but it depends on device Location services being on and the Weather app having location permission. Check both if the phone cannot show local conditions. Menu labels vary; look in Settings for Location and the Weather app’s permissions.
Use a saved city
If you want the widget to stay on one place, add that city in the Weather experience rather than relying on the phone’s location. To change the city already shown, long-press the widget, open its settings, tap Change beside the selected location, choose another saved city, and save. You can add multiple locations and choose which saved one appears on the Home screen; exact controls can differ by release or region.

A fixed saved city is more predictable and avoids using the phone’s current position for this display. Current location is more useful when you want conditions to follow you.
Fix a wrong or stale weather display
Check these causes in order before treating the issue as a phone fault:

- Confirm internet access. Make sure Wi-Fi or mobile data is on and a web page loads. Network or data-transfer problems can affect widgets and apps.
- Check Location and permission. Turn on device Location and confirm the Weather app is allowed to access it if you expect current-location results.
- Verify the selected city. Open Weather and check which location is selected. A widget may be showing a saved city rather than your current position.
- Install available updates. Update the phone software and Weather or related system apps. Samsung’s guidance also suggests checking Galaxy Store or Google Play for app updates.
- Refresh the widget. If its information remains old, remove the widget and add it again. Restarting the phone is another troubleshooting step.
- Check time-zone settings. If the location or timing still appears wrong, review the phone’s time-zone settings.
Samsung’s Russia support page identifies AccuWeather as the data service for the preinstalled Galaxy Weather app and widget. That statement is specific to that regional support page; it should not be taken as confirmation that the provider is identical in every market or software version. Enable movement-based automatic refresh
Samsung documents an Auto refresh on the go setting for Galaxy Weather widgets on devices running Android 13 (One UI 5) or later. Open the widget menu, tap Settings, and enable the option. Samsung says a visible refresh icon means the feature is off; after it is enabled, the icon disappears and the widget updates when movement is detected. This setting is not documented as available on every Galaxy phone or software version. See Samsung Saudi Arabia’s auto-refresh instructions.

Weather on a Galaxy Watch is configured separately
If you are checking a paired watch, its weather settings are managed through the Galaxy Wearable app—not through the phone widget settings.
