To add a payment method on an iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then Payment & Shipping. Sign in if prompted, choose Add Payment Method, enter your payment and billing details, and tap Done. The same route applies on Apple Vision Pro. You can also update the Apple Account payment method from a Mac, Windows PC, or the web.
Add a payment method on iPhone, iPad, or Apple Vision Pro
- Open Settings and tap your name.
- Tap Payment & Shipping. Sign in to your Apple Account if asked.
- Tap Add Payment Method and enter the payment and billing details.
- Check that the name and billing address match the information your financial institution has on file, then tap Done.
Use a Mac, Windows PC, or the web
These options manage the payment method associated with your Apple Account. Menu wording can vary slightly by software version, so follow the account and payment labels displayed on your device.

What to check if Apple rejects the payment method
- Verify billing details: Make sure your name and billing address match the records held by your bank or other financial institution.
- Check regional availability: The methods Apple accepts depend on the country or region set for your Apple Account, and the available list can change. Consult Apple’s country- and region-specific payment method information.
- Complete any verification: Some methods require verification through your financial institution’s app, a text message, or another method. If verification does not work, contact the institution.
If your payment method is accepted where you live but your Apple Account is set to another country or region, changing the account region may be relevant. It is not a quick workaround: Apple says you may need to spend your remaining account balance, cancel subscriptions that prevent the change and wait for them to end, and wait for memberships, pre-orders, rentals, passes, or refunds to finish. A valid payment method for the new region may also be required. Review Apple’s country or region change requirements before proceeding.

Apple Account billing is different from Apple Pay
Adding a method through Payment & Shipping changes the payment details associated with your Apple Account for App Store and other Apple media purchases or subscriptions. It does not add a card to Apple Pay. Apple treats these as separate payment-management tasks; see its guidance on changing or updating your Apple Account payment method if you need to edit or replace existing details.
