If you have an active Vodafone UK number and need a replacement SIM, sign in to My Vodafone and follow the SIM activation steps. If you cannot receive the verification text or log in, use Vodafone’s SIM activation form. But if Vodafone has disconnected your Pay as you go number, its UK guidance says the number cannot be reactivated; you’ll need to order a new SIM, and the guidance does not promise that you can keep the old number.
First, identify which Vodafone SIM problem you have
“Reactivate my SIM” can mean two different things. A replacement SIM is used to restore an existing, active number after a SIM is lost, stolen, damaged, the wrong size, or replaced during an upgrade. A disconnected Pay as you go number is a different case: Vodafone UK says it cannot be reactivated.

How to activate a Vodafone replacement SIM online
Use My Vodafone if you can verify your account
- Make sure you have a Vodafone replacement SIM for the number you want to keep. Vodafone lists lost or stolen, damaged, and wrong-size SIMs among the reasons to get a replacement.
- Sign in to My Vodafone and follow the replacement SIM activation process. Vodafone describes this as its best activation route and says the process uses text verification and two-factor authentication.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the activation. Insert the replacement SIM into your phone and restart the handset if service does not appear.
- Allow time for the change to take effect. Vodafone says activation can take up to 24 hours, though it is usually quicker.
Use Vodafone’s form if you cannot sign in or receive the text
If your original SIM is lost, damaged, or otherwise unable to receive the verification text, Vodafone provides an alternative SIM activation form with security questions. Use the form linked from Vodafone’s new SIM help page rather than trying to verify through a number you cannot access.

Physical SIM or eSIM
Vodafone says a compatible eSIM can replace a physical SIM without waiting for delivery. Compatibility and the available activation flow depend on your device and account; follow the options shown in Vodafone’s account or help pages. The online replacement process still concerns restoring an eligible existing number, not recovering a number Vodafone has disconnected.
What to do if your Pay as you go number was disconnected
Vodafone UK states that a disconnected Pay as you go number cannot be reactivated and directs customers to order a new SIM. Do not assume that activating a new SIM will restore the old number: Vodafone’s guidance does not say that it will.
To help keep a Pay as you go number active, Vodafone says to make a chargeable use—such as a call or text—at least once every 180 days. It says it sends a reminder after 90 days without use. These are Vodafone UK’s published policy figures, not a universal Vodafone rule, and the live policy may change. See Vodafone’s Pay as you go help page for its current guidance.

If the replacement SIM still has no service
Start by distinguishing an incomplete replacement-SIM activation from a number that has already been disconnected. A replacement SIM may take up to 24 hours to activate; that waiting period does not make a disconnected number recoverable.
- Check Vodafone’s email or messages for an activation update or instructions.
- Remove and reinsert the SIM, then restart the phone.
- Check Vodafone’s local network status for an outage or service issue in your area.
- If the phone is locked to another network, resolve the handset lock separately; SIM activation does not unlock a phone.
- If the phone was lost or stolen, check whether a device block or account bar still needs to be cleared. Vodafone’s lost or stolen help page covers recovery steps.
- If service has not returned after 24 hours, contact Vodafone for account-specific help.
A PUK or network unlock code addresses a different problem and is not a way to reactivate a disconnected number.
