Blizzard employees have denied that the World of Warcraft: Forever promotional videos were made with generative AI. The company’s digital marketing manager described the accusation as “a big hell nah,” while a World of Warcraft social-media manager said Blizzard does not use AI in any social content. Those are statements from Blizzard staff, not the result of an independent technical audit of the videos.

What the accusation was about

Online commenters questioned whether Blizzard’s World of Warcraft: Forever social-media advertisements used generative AI. The dispute concerns the production of promotional videos and social posts—not the game’s source code, its development tools, or every form of technology Blizzard may use elsewhere.

GamesRadar reported the controversy on October 15, 2026, citing an X post from Blizzard’s digital marketing manager published on October 14. The report said Blizzard was preparing for the game’s public release, which was described as approaching the following month.

What Blizzard employees said

The marketing manager’s denial

Blizzard’s digital marketing manager wrote that comments had raised questions about AI use in the videos and responded: “That’s a big hell nah.” The manager said real team members write the scripts, obtain and edit footage, and work with voice actors, adding that they had been in recording booths with the voice-over actors every week.

That statement presents a human-led process for the specific activities named: writing, footage acquisition, editing and voice recording. It does not identify every software tool used in post-production, nor does it provide a technical examination of individual video frames or audio tracks.

The social-media manager’s broader statement

A World of Warcraft social-media manager followed up with a wider claim: “We don’t use AI on ANY social content we make. Big hell nah indeed.” This extends the denial beyond the disputed Forever videos to Blizzard’s social content generally, but it remains an employee statement rather than independently verified evidence.

What is established—and what is not

Question What the available reporting establishes
Did Blizzard deny using generative AI in the videos? Yes. Two Blizzard social and marketing employees publicly denied it on October 14, 2026.
How did Blizzard describe production? The marketing manager said team members wrote scripts, obtained and edited footage, and recorded with voice actors.
Was the denial limited to the videos? The marketing manager addressed the videos; the social-media manager said Blizzard does not use AI in any social content.
Was there an independent forensic review? GamesRadar’s report does not describe a third-party audit, technical analysis or AI-detection examination of the assets.

That distinction matters. A company’s categorical denial is evidence of what its representatives claim, but it is not the same as independently proving how every visual, edit, script or voice track was produced. AI-detection tools also cannot, by themselves, establish a definitive production history without corroborating source files, version records or testimony from people directly involved.

Why the wording matters for viewers

“AI-generated” can refer to several different things: a generated script, synthetic artwork or video, an altered voice, automated editing, or limited assistance inside a conventional production tool. Blizzard’s response specifically describes people writing, sourcing and editing footage, and working with voice actors. It does not separately document each disputed creative element in every advertisement.

For viewers trying to assess the claim, the most useful questions are narrow and evidence-based:

  • Which exact video or scene is alleged to contain generated material?
  • Is the allegation about the script, visuals, editing, voice, or more than one element?
  • Does the person making the claim have direct knowledge of the production?
  • Are original project files, behind-the-scenes records or source footage available?
  • Has an independent specialist examined the assets and explained the method and limits of that examination?

Without answers to those questions, the public record supports reporting the accusation and Blizzard’s denial, but not declaring that the videos are definitively AI-made or definitively free of any AI-assisted tool.

What readers can conclude right now

The clearest answer to “Did Blizzard use AI in the WoW: Forever videos?” is: Blizzard says no. Its employees offered a direct denial and described a production process involving human writers, editors and voice actors. As of the October 15, 2026 report, however, there is no independently reported forensic review establishing how every element of the videos was made.

That leaves the status of the allegation unresolved beyond the company’s account. Further reporting would need to identify the specific disputed assets, present evidence with clear provenance and distinguish among scriptwriting, visuals, editing and voice work rather than treating “AI use” as a single, all-or-nothing category.
