Aave’s proposed rollover destination, Pendle’s PT-USDG-25FEB2027, had a 2.79% implied yield in LlamaRisk’s October 7, 2026 market snapshot. That was below the cited Aave V3 X Layer borrowing APRs for USDT0, USDC and USDG, but above the GHO borrowing APR. On those on-chain yields alone, borrowing the first three assets to loop into the PT meant negative carry. The figures are dated, variable rates—not a current or guaranteed return.
What Aave is proposing
TokenLogic’s September 30, 2026 Direct-to-AIP proposal would add Pendle’s PT-USDG-25FEB2027 to Aave V3 on X Layer. The PT is a principal token backed by USDG and matures on February 25, 2027. It is proposed as the destination for holders of PT-USDG-29OCT2026, which matures on October 29, 2026.
The idea is to let a user move from the expiring PT to the new maturity while retaining a stablecoin borrowing position. TokenLogic says OKX plans to build a separate flash-loan integration for that transaction; the Aave proposal covers the listing and E-Mode configuration, not delivery of the integration. The governance post describes feedback, incorporating risk-provider input and escalation to AIP voting as next steps. It does not establish that the listing or rollover flow is live.

LlamaRisk’s October 8 assessment reports the following rates observed on October 7, 2026, for Aave V3 on X Layer. The spread column is the borrowing APR minus the PT’s 2.79% implied yield; it is a simple comparison, not a user-specific return calculation.

The PT’s 2.79% implied yield and each borrowing APR are market observations from October 7, not October 12 or October 13 quotes. LlamaRisk notes that borrowing rates are variable and the PT’s implied yield can change as pool liquidity builds, so these spreads can move. Its assessment also reports a 3.3% yield for underlying USDG from Pendle; that is a separate measure, not the PT’s implied yield used in the comparison above.
What negative carry does—and does not—tell you
The on-chain comparison
For a loop funded with USDT0, USDC or USDG, the cited borrowing APR exceeded the PT yield. Ignoring other costs and changes in rates, the position therefore had negative carry from those two yields alone. GHO was the exception among the four assets LlamaRisk listed: its cited borrowing rate was lower than the PT yield.

External incentives are a separate dependency
LlamaRisk said OKX Exchange Earn incentives kept the loop profitable for participating users at the time of its assessment. Those rewards are outside Aave, and the assessment does not establish that every user qualified or that the incentives would continue. They should not be treated as part of the PT’s yield or as a guaranteed offset to borrowing costs.

The snapshot does not provide a universal realized-return calculation incorporating every fee, transaction, liquidation, eligibility condition or user-specific position detail. The yield spread alone cannot establish what any particular user earned or would earn.

Rollover mechanics and risk parameters
Migration and E-Mode
TokenLogic initially proposed putting both PT maturities in E-Mode #7 so users could roll over without closing their stablecoin borrowing position. LlamaRisk’s October 8 recommendation instead calls for a new E-Mode #9 for the February 2027 PT and recommends including both the old and new PT there, which could allow existing positions to migrate without closing. The risk provider’s stated concern is that the October category’s 94.66% liquidation threshold is higher than its recommended 93.48% for the new maturity. These are proposal and risk-review positions, not confirmation of final governance settings.

LlamaRisk describes the new PT as collateral-only, not an asset users can borrow from Aave. Its oracle values the PT as a zero-coupon claim that rises toward par as maturity approaches, using a capped USDG/USD Chainlink feed. The proposal and risk assessment give different discount-rate parameters; they should not be combined into one set of settings.

Liquidity and maturity context
LlamaRisk reported approximately $1.02 million of available liquidity in the February PT pool on October 7, 2026. The pool was deployed on September 25, and liquidity increased substantially on October 6. Because the implied yield can move as liquidity accumulates, the observed 2.79% should be read as a dated snapshot rather than a fixed rate through maturity.
