The iPhone 17 Pro with Apple A19 Pro leads the Pixel 10 Pro with Google Tensor G5 in the reported CPU, graphics, and video-export tests. Tom’s Guide’s 2025 comparison found higher Geekbench 6 scores and nearly twice the frame rate in 3DMark Wild Life Unlimited for the iPhone. These are results from two complete phones, not a controlled test of the processors in isolation; they do not establish which chip is better for every app, battery-life scenario, or AI workload.

At a glance: A19 Pro vs Tensor G5

The clearest direct comparison available is a 2025 review of the iPhone 17 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro. It reports an A19 Pro advantage in every listed performance test, but the results reflect each phone’s hardware and software as well as its chip.

Test or specification iPhone 17 Pro Pixel 10 Pro How to interpret it
Processor Apple A19 Pro Google Tensor G5 Processors as identified for the tested phones by Tom’s Guide, 2025.
Geekbench 6 single-core 3,834 2,335 Tom’s Guide, 2025. The iPhone result is about 64% higher, calculated from the reported scores.
Geekbench 6 multi-core 9,988 6,375 Tom’s Guide, 2025. The iPhone result is about 57% higher, calculated from the reported scores.
3DMark Wild Life Unlimited 158.37 fps 79.29 fps Tom’s Guide, 2025. The iPhone result is about twice the Pixel result in this test.
Premiere Rush export 0:22 2:19 Tom’s Guide, 2025. This is the review’s reported export time, not a general measure of all video-editing workloads.
Published CPU/GPU configuration 6-core CPU, 6-core GPU Not stated in the official Google specification source available for this comparison Apple’s published A19 Pro specification; no matching official Google Tensor G5 architecture specification is established here.

Which is faster: A19 Pro or Tensor G5?

For the tested phones and workloads, A19 Pro is faster in the cited comparison. Its lead appears in both Geekbench 6 CPU tests, the 3DMark graphics test, and the Premiere Rush export. The scores are useful for comparing these specific devices under one reviewer’s test setup; they are not universal chip scores.

A separate, live PassMark comparison reports A19 Pro ahead by around 45% in single-threaded CPU Mark and around 24% in multi-threaded CPU Mark, based on a combined pool of 827 submitted benchmarks represented when the result was accessed in 2026. PassMark says submissions update daily, so the aggregate can change. CPU Mark is a different benchmark from Geekbench 6, and its result should not be merged with the Tom’s Guide figures as if they came from one controlled test.

What Apple has officially published about A19 Pro

Apple announced the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max on September 9, 2025, and identifies A19 Pro as the processor in both. Apple specifies a 6-core CPU and 6-core GPU, with Neural Accelerators built into the GPU cores and a 16-core Neural Engine. These are Apple’s own published specifications, not a like-for-like specification comparison with Tensor G5.

Apple also says A19 Pro can deliver up to 40% better sustained performance than the prior generation when paired with the iPhone 17 Pro vapor chamber. This is a vendor claim about a specific prior-generation comparison and the phone’s thermal system; it is not an independent A19 Pro-versus-Tensor G5 result.

What the benchmark results do—and do not—measure

CPU performance

Geekbench 6 reports separate single-core and multi-core scores. In Tom’s Guide’s 2025 results, the iPhone 17 Pro scores 3,834 single-core and 9,988 multi-core, compared with 2,335 and 6,375 for the Pixel 10 Pro. Single-core results can help characterize tasks that rely heavily on one core; multi-core results describe performance across multiple cores in that benchmark. Neither score predicts every real-world task on its own.

Geekbench’s live iOS chart also lists a 3,168 single-core score for an iPhone 17 Pro Max with A19 Pro in the result surfaced in 2026. That is a different device and chart context from Tom’s Guide’s iPhone 17 Pro test. The chart changes as submissions arrive, so this figure should not be treated as a fixed or directly interchangeable result.

Graphics and games

Tom’s Guide reports 158.37 frames per second for the iPhone 17 Pro and 79.29 fps for the Pixel 10 Pro in 3DMark Wild Life Unlimited. This favors the iPhone in that graphics test. It does not guarantee a game will run at those frame rates: game engines, graphics settings, software updates, display limits, heat, and sustained power behavior can all affect play.

Video export

In the review’s Premiere Rush export, the iPhone 17 Pro took 0:22 and the Pixel 10 Pro took 2:19. That is a substantial difference for this particular export task. It does not establish the same gap in other editing apps, with different footage or export settings, or in a broader creator workflow.

Sustained speed, efficiency, and AI

Short benchmark scores do not settle how quickly either phone performs after extended heavy use, how much battery a workload consumes, or which phone lasts longer between charges. Apple’s sustained-performance statement includes its vapor chamber and a comparison with the preceding generation, but the cited material does not provide a matched long-duration A19 Pro-versus-Tensor G5 test.

Apple’s Neural Accelerators and Neural Engine are hardware descriptions, not a head-to-head AI benchmark. The cited comparison does not establish which phone is faster or more capable across AI tasks, nor does it provide a comparable battery-efficiency result. App support and software implementation matter alongside the processor.

Why a phone comparison is not a chip-only test

A19 Pro and Tensor G5 are integrated into their respective phones rather than sold as standalone consumer processors. The reported results compare an iPhone 17 Pro with a Pixel 10 Pro. Cooling, memory, power limits, operating-system behavior, and the benchmark’s conditions can influence a phone’s result, so it would be inaccurate to describe the numbers as measurements of bare chips under identical conditions.

The evidence supports a practical conclusion about the tested models: the iPhone 17 Pro won the listed performance tests. It does not settle all-day efficiency, performance in every app, long-session thermals, or the relative quality of each phone’s software features.

Which phone should you choose?

Choose based on measured performance if speed is the priority

If your decision is mainly about the workloads in the cited review—Geekbench 6 CPU tasks, 3DMark Wild Life Unlimited, or the tested Premiere Rush export—the iPhone 17 Pro has the stronger reported results.

Do not use these scores as a substitute for your other priorities

If battery life, camera behavior, preferred apps, software features, or long-term support matter more, these benchmarks do not answer those questions. Compare the phones on those specific needs rather than assuming a higher processor score decides the overall choice.
