Possibly—but only in a narrow way. A distinctive Wi-Fi network name such as one containing 🍑 may make precomputed password-hash lookup tables less useful. That is an inference from guidance about how the network name is used, not evidence that a peach emoji has been tested or that it stops hackers. Your Wi-Fi’s security depends much more on its authentication settings and passphrase.
How a Wi-Fi name can affect password security
A Wi-Fi network name is its SSID (service set identifier). UK Government workplace guidance says the SSID is used as the salt when hashing a pre-shared key (PSK), the network passphrase used for authentication. The guidance warns that a blank, common SSID can be vulnerable to rainbow-table attacks and recommends an SSID comprising random characters. UK Government, Sharing workplace wireless networks
In practical terms, a distinctive SSID may make precomputed lookup tables less useful to an attacker. But the official recommendation is for random characters; it does not specifically endorse emojis, and it does not show that 🍑 provides a measurable security benefit. A network name is visible to people nearby and is not a secret. Hiding the SSID is not a substitute for security settings.

What the peach emoji adds—and what it does not
Unicode lists 🍑 as “peach,” code point U+1F351. That tells you which character it is, not how much protection it provides. Unicode Consortium, Unicode Technical Standard #51: Unicode Emoji, version 18.0

- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
Adding the emoji could make a network name less common than a blank or default name, but distinctiveness alone does not prove that a network is secure. Unicode also notes general security considerations involving confusable strings and inconsistent handling of Unicode. Its report does not identify peach-emoji SSIDs as a Wi-Fi vulnerability or establish that using one weakens a network. Unicode Consortium, Unicode Technical Report #36: Unicode Security Considerations
What to prioritize for safer Wi-Fi
Use strong authentication and a long passphrase
For the workplace context it covers, UK Government guidance recommends WPA2-Personal with AES and a PSK of at least 24 random characters. That is workplace guidance, not a universal household-router requirement; follow the strongest security mode your router and devices support. A distinctive SSID cannot compensate for weak authentication or an easy-to-guess passphrase.

- Dual-band Wi-Fi with 5 GHz speeds up to 867 Mbps and 2.4 GHz speeds up to 300 Mbps, delivering 1200 Mbps of total bandwidth¹. Dual-band routers do not support 6 GHz. Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- Covers up to 1,000 sq. ft. with four external antennas for stable wireless connections and optimal coverage.
- Supports IGMP Proxy/Snooping, Bridge and Tag VLAN to optimize IPTV streaming
- Access Point Mode - Supports AP Mode to transform your wired connection into wireless network, an ideal wireless router for home
- Advanced Security with WPA3 - The latest Wi-Fi security protocol, WPA3, brings new capabilities to improve cybersecurity in personal networks
Choose a distinctive name, but do not treat it as a password
Avoid leaving the SSID blank or relying on a common default name if your router lets you choose one. You can include 🍑 if you like, but regard it as a naming choice that may add distinctiveness—not as a security feature you can rely on. Do not use an emoji in place of a strong Wi-Fi passphrase.
Check that your devices can connect
Router and client support for Unicode SSIDs is not established by the cited sources, so test the network name with every device you expect to use. If any device cannot find or join the network reliably, choose a name made from characters all your devices handle correctly.

- NIGHTHAWK WIFI 6 ROUTER FOR YOUR WHOLE HOME: Delivers fast, reliable WiFi across every room of your apartment or small home for streaming, gaming, video calls, and smart home devices, all running at the same time without slowing each other down.
- WORKS WITH YOUR EXISTING INTERNET SERVICE: Pairs with your existing modem or gateway via ethernet. Compatible with most cable, fiber, DSL, and satellite providers. Some gateways and modem router combos may require bridge mode. No coax needed.
- SET UP AND MANAGE YOUR NETWORK WITH THE NIGHTHAWK APP: Download the free Nighthawk app on iOS or Android for guided setup. Manage WiFi, run speed tests, pause devices, and set up guest networks from anywhere. Active internet required.
- READY FOR THE DEVICES YOU ALREADY OWN: Your phones, laptops, and TVs work right out of the box. WiFi 6 delivers speeds up to 1.8 Gbps across 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. Backward compatible with WiFi 5 and earlier.
- COVERAGE IN EVERY ROOM: Covers up to 1,500 sq. ft. for up to 20 connected devices. Walls, floors, and interference can reduce range. Larger or multi-story homes may benefit from a NETGEAR Orbi mesh WiFi system.
What a Wi-Fi password study does—and does not—show
A 2025 preprint by Yong Zhi Lim, Hazmei Bin Abdul Rahman, and Biplab Sikdar analyzed 3,352 Wi-Fi password hashes collected in Singapore. The authors report that 16 percent of that sample showed the specified predictable or minimum-length password behaviors. Those figures describe that particular sample; they are not a prevalence estimate for all Wi-Fi users and do not measure whether emoji in an SSID improves security.
