A purported sketch of a smaller, Lapras-like Pokémon has circulated online, but it is not a confirmed new evolution. A July 2026 report says the cropped image was shared by Pokémon news account Centro LEAKS; neither Game Freak nor The Pokémon Company has authenticated it. The official Pokédex entry still says Lapras does not evolve.
What does the image reportedly show?
According to OtakuKart’s report, the image appears to depict a smaller creature resembling Lapras, with a less developed shell. The report describes only a partially cropped portion, so it does not establish what the complete design looks like.
The report says the sketch circulated through Centro LEAKS. That identifies an account associated with its circulation, not the original artist, owner, or source of the image.
Is Lapras getting a new evolution?
There is no official confirmation that Lapras has gained an evolution. The Pokémon Philippines Pokédex entry lists Lapras as No. 0131, a Water- and Ice-type Pokémon, and states: “This Pokémon does not evolve.” It also displays Lapras Gigantamax as a style; that does not change the entry’s evolution status.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The official entry establishes Lapras’s current Pokédex status, but it does not authenticate or explain the circulated drawing. The sketch should therefore be described as purported or unverified concept art—not as a newly released evolution.
Was the sketch really made 30 years ago?
That has not been established. OtakuKart published its report on July 25, 2026, and updated it on July 30, 2026. Although its headline refers to “30 years,” the report does not verify that the artwork dates to the 1990s. It leaves open whether it could be an abandoned idea from that decade or a more recent prototype.

Without an authenticated source or date, the image’s age and provenance remain unresolved. The “30 years” framing should not be treated as evidence of when it was drawn.

Could the design appear in a future Pokémon game?
The report provides no evidence that the sketch will appear in a future game. Its connection to upcoming titles is speculation, not an announcement or confirmation from The Pokémon Company or Game Freak. Until either company identifies the artwork or announces the design, its status remains unverified.
