The available sources do not identify the fish or verify the camera-recorded event described in the headline. A black swallower is a documented example of a fish found with a larger fish in its stomach, but that preserved specimen is not evidence that the species appeared in the footage. So it is not possible to establish whether scientists filmed this specific fish swallowing prey, or whether the headline refers to a different documented example.

To assess a video attribution, look for the original publisher or expedition record and check whether it names the species, identifies the prey, and explains when and where the recording was made. A clip alone may show a feeding event without establishing those details.
How can a deep-sea fish swallow such large prey?
NOAA Ocean Exploration explains that some deep-sea fish have large mouths, unhinged jaws, and expandable stomachs. These features can help them take large prey when food is available. This is general context about adaptations; it does not confirm the identity, anatomy, or behavior of the fish in the headline’s purported footage.
