Yes—a homebrew project called PSBox Cloud Gaming lets some homebrew-enabled PS5 consoles access Xbox Cloud Gaming. The project reports streams up to 1080p at 60 frames per second, with the PS5 able to upscale the picture to a 4K output using AMD FSR 1 or Anime4K. That is an upscaled 1080p stream, not native 4K cloud video. It is an unofficial client, and compatibility depends on the console’s firmware and homebrew setup.
What PSBox Cloud Gaming does
PSBox Cloud Gaming is a native homebrew client for Microsoft’s cloud gaming service, not an official PlayStation or Xbox app. Games run on Microsoft’s service and are streamed to the PS5; the console does not run Xbox games locally. The project says it can browse the cloud catalog and use a DualSense controller. The project README says it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Microsoft or Sony.
The client also lists Xbox Remote Play, which streams from an Xbox the player owns. That is a separate feature from Xbox Cloud Gaming: one uses Microsoft’s cloud service, while the other streams from the player’s own console. The README also lists support for up to four DualSense controllers and automatic reconnection after a brief network drop; these are project-reported features, not independently verified compatibility results.
What “upscale to 4K” means
The project reports a stream of up to 1080p at 60 frames per second. Its 4K option enlarges that incoming image on the PS5 GPU using AMD FSR 1 or Anime4K. The output may fill a 4K display, but upscaling cannot make the source a native 4K stream or restore detail that was not present in the 1080p image. The 1080p60 figure is a project specification reported by the project and Tom’s Hardware, not a controlled independent performance benchmark.
What you need—and what compatibility means
- A PS5 that can run homebrew and directory-style apps, plus a compatible loader. The project gives ShadowMountPlus as an example.
- A Microsoft account. The project says Game Pass Ultimate is required for most of the catalog; its README also lists free-to-play games and a “Your games” area.
- A network connection suitable for streaming. The project lists reconnection after brief drops, but that does not guarantee uninterrupted play or a particular image quality.
Jailbreak eligibility and PSBox app compatibility are not the same thing. The developer said the app had been tested on one PS5 running firmware 13.60, explicitly inviting feedback from other users. That is a narrow test scope, not evidence that the client works across PS5 models or firmware versions. Ars Technica reported on September 30, 2026 that the Relapse exploit worked on firmware up to 13.6 and that firmware 14.00.00 had been released in mid-September. That scene-level reporting does not establish PSBox compatibility on every console covered by the exploit, or that a console on newer firmware can be jailbroken. Check current project and exploit documentation for your exact console and firmware; do not assume updating or downgrading will help.

Installation overview
The repository’s installation instructions may change as the project evolves. At the time documented, the maintainer’s flow was:
- Download
PPSA99810.zipfrom the project’s latest release. - Extract the
PPSA99810directory to/data/homebrew/. - Use a compatible loader to mount the directory as an app.
- Open PSBox and follow the device code shown on the TV to link a Microsoft account.
For current package details, updates, and compatibility notes, use the project repository rather than treating these steps as permanent. The README says updates can be applied in the app or by replacing the folder manually. It also warns users not to share account.json, which stores sign-in information.

Early reports point to picture and controller issues
Early user reports included macroblocking, pink visual artifacts, and missing DualSense vibration. In the developer discussion, one user described picture glitches and macroblocking alongside a lack of vibration. The developer suggested lost network packets as a possible cause of the video problem and said a future version should address it; that was a proposed explanation and intention, not a verified root cause or proof the issue has since been fixed. What to keep in mind before using it
- It is unofficial. Sony and Microsoft do not publish this client as an official app.
- Service access can change. The project warns that Microsoft may change or block the service interfaces the client relies on.
- Compatibility is specific to your setup. The developer’s stated test covered one PS5 on firmware 13.60; exploit coverage alone does not confirm that the app will work on a particular console.
- Streaming quality depends on more than the output resolution. A 4K display mode does not mean a native 4K source, and network conditions can affect the stream.
